Data selection can be used in conjunction with adaptive filtering algorithms to avoid unnecessary weight updating and thereby reduce computational overhead. This paper presents a novel correntropy-based data selection method as an alternative to conventional data selection mechanisms based on squared error values. We developed a variable correntropy sensing algorithm to maximize the instantaneous correntropy function for the Gaussian kernel function to mitigate the impact of impulse noise and other forms of noise that can be disregarded in data selection. The proposed data selection mechanism can be implemented with any adaptive filtering algorithm. In simulations, the proposed method (implemented with the least mean squared algorithm) outperformed comparable error-based data selection schemes in terms of hit rate and miss rate, and the resulting weight updating ratio was close to the expected weight updating ratio. © 2023 IEEE. Fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) is a useful cryptographic primitive. It makes a third-party manipulate data in the ciphertext space and therefore is a key technology for privacy-preserving outsourcing services. Theoretically, FHE can evaluate any circuits. However, the implementation is not trivial. The reason it lacks lots of basic operations like conditional check and branch control. In this paper, we focus on extended Euclidean algorithm operation over FHE. We introduce the problems we encounter and show how we solve these issues. We implement our design and evaluate its performance on a real computer. Task oriented chatbots are a sub-topic related to chatbots, where chatbots will perform certain tasks with specific goals. One part of creating a task-oriented chatbot is doing intent classification. Intent classification is a task of text classification. As in general text classification, the required dataset requires a label to carry out the classification process. To speed up and help the utterance analysis process, there is already a method, namely clustering, and Density-based clustering is a part of clustering that can determine cluster patterns based on arbitrary data, with DBScan as one of its algorithms. This research used 10000 client utterance data of awhatsapp based e-commerce conversation. SentenceBert also used as a state of art sentence embedding. This research yield silhouette score of 0.327 as the best result from eps of 0.1 and MinPts of 95. However, based on the cluster result, sentences labelled as noise can be further clustered. Text Preprocessing, text augmentation and sentence embedding techniques can be explored to increase the cluster performance. © 2023 IEEE.

The sugar industry is facing challenges in increasing productivity to meet consumer demand. One opportunity for productivity improvement lies in ensuring sugar content. This study proposes a hybrid model to predict sugar content by considering uncertainty factors. A hybrid model combining fuzzy subtractive clustering, and a fuzzy inference system is proposed to predict sugar content. The clustering results using silhouette and fuzzy subtractive clustering successfully identified 6 cluster centres from 2225 datasets collected in a sugar industry in East Java Province. The hybrid inference engine model is designed with fuzzy rules derived from the clustered data. Two inference models are developed: triangular and Gaussian fuzzy numbers. The testing results indicate that the hybrid model with triangular fuzzy numbers shows the smallest error with an R2 value of 0.95. This model is possible to applied in the sugar industry for decision makers in improving productivity with taking attention into uncertain factors influencing sugar content. © 2024 The Authors.

In this study, two deep learning models for automatic tattoo detection were analyzed;a modified Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and pre-trained ResNet-50 model. In order to achieve this, ResNet-50 uses transfer learning with fine-tuning. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and computational efficiency of the system being considered. To augment the dataset included 1000 photos that were equally divided between those showing tattoos and those that did not show tattoos. A k-fold cross-validation approach was employed in training and testing the models. Although custom CNNs are effective, utilizing pre-trained ones like ResNet-50 can offer even better outcomes. Specifically, ResNet-50 attained a higher accuracy (0.86 compared to 0.79), precision (0.85 versus 0.78), recall (0.91 against 0.86), and F1-score (0.91 vis-a-vis 0.86) as compared to custom CNNs. In selecting these models for examination, two main motivations were considered. The first motivation is to see whether transfer learning with a pre-trained ResNet-50 model does well when compared with a customized CNN designed specifically for tattoo detection. Secondly,the intent of this study is to know what advantages can be derived from each approach and their demerits too. Furthermore, it seeks to determine if transfer learning can provide an alternative in contrast to the common CNN techniques with regards to precision and computational efficiency. In this research, two models will be evaluated in order to answer the question of what is better for tattoo detection: transfer learning or designing custom architectures. © 2024 IEEE.

Technological advancements are increasingly evident across various sectors, including automobiles, industry, and healthcare. In precision agriculture, significant progress has been made, with AgroTICs and Smart Agriculture gaining substantial traction in the market. However, a gap remains between cutting-edge technology and family farming, presenting a challenge from both social and applied research perspectives. However, there is still a gap between cutting-edge technology and family farming, which creates a challenge from a social and applied research point of view. In this context, this paper proposes a monitoring model based on Fuzzy Logic and sensor automation applied to estimate the health of a corn crop. The proposed Fuzzy inference system involves calculating an indicator of nutrients as well as the average color and area of corn plants. The nutrient indicator is automatically computed by an ESP32 microcontroller using sensor readings, while the average color and area inputs are manually entered via a mobile application. Additionally, the Fuzzy inference is integrated into the ESP32. The model underwent experimental validation on the health of the plantation, and the results were evaluated in four areas: one was designated for testing, and three were for validation. The model achieved an accuracy of 97.5% in Scenario 3, categorized as 'Very Favorable', and an accuracy of 65% in Scenarios 2 and 4, categorized as 'Unfavorable'. The implications of this research contribute to the advancement of AgroTICs among small producers, with the potential to enhance and automate the monitoring of their harvest production. © 2024 IEEE.

Exams are an important component of any educational program, including online education. In any test, there is a possibility of cheating, so its detection and prevention is important. This study aims to conduct an in-depth study of the online exam monitoring model approach based on facial recognition used to detect cheating. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria designed, 13 selected studies were obtained. From these studies, we conducted further analysis regarding the Face Detection Method, Face Recognition Method, Initial Feature, Behavior Analysis and Evaluation Metrics used in each study so as to provide answers to research questions. the most frequently used Face detection method was Viola-Jones with a presentation of 20%, then CNN and MTCNN with a total presentation of 21%. The most widely used face recognition method in selected studies is CNN and metrics Accuracy is one of the most frequently used evaluations with a percentage of 33%. While the features that are usually used to detect cheating during online exams include facial motion and head pose which occupies the first position. The second is eye movement, then multiple faces gaze estimation and facial expression is in third place. Other features that also play a role in analyzing cheating behavior are mouth detection, facial vector, landmark location, gesture and posture. © 2022 IEEE.

As one of the cancer types with the highest incidence rates, colorectal cancer (CRC) would benefit from treatments with fewer side effects and reduced treatment-resistant potential. One of the options is to harness the anti-CRC potential of natural products. Previous studies have shown that Calamus draco exudate, dragon's blood, has anticancer activity in liver cancer and acute myeloid leukemia, but its bioactivity has not been studied in CRC. Here we conduct a bioinformatics study based on network pharmacology to explore the anti-CRC potential and mechanism of C. draco-derived compounds. The bioinformatics pipeline is composed of compound and target collection, biological network evaluation, and enrichment analysis. We found that there are 43 bioactive compounds from C. draco targeting 91 CRC-related targets, of which most compounds target MEN1, PTGS2, and IDH1. Further analyses show that the targets of C. draco are involved in the cellular response to hypoxia. By inhibiting those targets, C. draco bioactive compounds can potentially hinder angiogenesis and increase treatment response efficacy. © 2024 The Authors.

Automatic essay scoring for discussion forum in online learning based on semantic and keyword similarities

Purpose: The authors constructed an automatic essay scoring (AES) model in a discussion forum where the result was compared with scores given by human evaluators. This research proposes essay scoring, which is conducted through two parameters, semantic and keyword similarities, using a SentenceTransformers pre-trained model that can construct the highest vector embedding. Combining these models is used to optimize the model with increasing accuracy. Design/methodology/approach: The development of the model in the study is divided into seven stages: (1) data collection, (2) pre-processing data, (3) selected pre-trained SentenceTransformers model, (4) semantic similarity (sentence pair), (5) keyword similarity, (6) calculate final score and (7) evaluating model. Findings: The multilingual paraphrase-multilingual-MiniLM-L12-v2 and distilbert-base-multilingual-cased-v1 models got the highest scores from comparisons of 11 pre-trained multilingual models of SentenceTransformers with Indonesian data (Dhini and Girsang, 2023). Both multilingual models were adopted in this study. A combination of two parameters is obtained by comparing the response of the keyword extraction responses with the rubric keywords. Based on the experimental results, proposing a combination can increase the evaluation results by 0.2. Originality/value: This study uses discussion forum data from the general biology course in online learning at the open university for the 2020.2 and 2021.2 semesters. Forum discussion ratings are still manual. In general, public or private organizations or companies have used information-based technology as a support to improve business performance to be more effective and efficient in order to achieve a company's business goals. Given the large contribution of information technology in the application of hotel applications as a supporting information system, it is a vital system that must avoid risks that can hinder and cause harm to the hotel management business processes. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out risk management using the COBIT 5 framework to manage possible risks that may occur based on the APO12 (Manage Risk) domain. From the evaluation results of the data obtained through observation and interviews as well as the calculation of the results of the questionnaire based on 6 APO12 subdomains, the results of the risk management level capability assessment in hotel applications are still at level 3 or have reached the level of established process with the target to be achieved at level 4 resulting in a gap of 1 level. Based on the results obtained, it is necessary to propose recommendations that can be used by hotels in improving the application of information technology risk management so that in the future it can achieve the expected target level so that the APO12 level of capability can increase and become more optimal. © 2023 IEEE.
