The covid-19 pandemic and Economic Policy Uncertainty resulting from the shutdown of production, withdrawal of investments, enforcement of lockdowns and quarantines globally, have been directly affecting stock markets worldwide. This study is thus an attempt to analyse the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on stock market behaviour in major affected economies. Moreover, the time frame was extended by using current data which investigate the impact of the virus during the boom and the blast phase in the country's most hit by the pandemic crisis such as China, Italy, UK and US. The frequency of the data is daily, and it dates from 3 January 2020 up to 10 February 2021. The considered time framework will give a deep insight into how stock markets behave in the case of an exogenous shock. The Dickey-Fuller Augmented Unit Root Test indicates that all the variables are stationary at first difference, which is one of the main conditions to have robust result, and the ARCH-LM test for the heteroskedasticity of the residuals, which show that all the probability values are significant, rejecting the null hypothesis of no ARCH effect. Based on the results of GARCH (1,1), we conclude that the change in stock markets volatility is positive and significant in China, Italy, UK and USA. This suggests that the impacts of COVID-19 outbreak and economic policy uncertainty on Stock Markets are a significant and Homogeneous across the studied countries, and the shock on FTSE Italia All Share has the longest time to vanish which makes it the riskiest to invest during this period, while the shock on SP500 USA has the shortest time to disappear meaning that it is safest Stock Market in this study. These findings have significant implications for policymakers, institutional and individual investors and Financial Markets analysts.

Collaborative work, with the need to keep HTML/XML code up-to-date, is now becoming vital particularly in the Web Development field. In order to fully support collaborative work and resolve related problems the need has arisen for an optimum solution to the automated editing of a number of parallel copies originating from a single original HTML/XML code document with the additional requirement to subsequently merge the copies into a single updated document. A number of algorithms have been used in the past for the purpose, such as: Diff3, XmlDiff, DeltaXML & 3DM, but HTML/XML code complexity related issues have now called for an algorithm that is more specifically designed for the purpose. In this paper a new algorithmic approach to merging HTML/XML code documents is presented that is based on the "Three-way Merge" approach and the "Node-per-Node" comparison between ordered trees. For the creation of the actual merging function operating at the heart of the algorithm, a particular methodology was followed in which only the two "Current Versions" are required for the generation of the updated document, and no involvement of the "Original Document" is necessary. This is an important improvement over the currently existing algorithms because eliminates the well-known "Idempotent" problem in merging two HTML/XML documents. In addition, the algorithmic approach presented here allows for the identification and treatment of all the conflicts that arise during a HTML/XML code merging in an ordered and clearly specified manner. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

How File-access Patterns Inuence the Degree of I/O Interference between Cluster Applications

On large-scale clusters, tens to hundreds of applications can simultaneously access a parallel le system, leading to contention and, in its wake, to degraded application performance. In this article, we analyze the inuence of le-access patterns on the degree of interference. As it is by experience most intrusive, we focus our attention on write-write contention. We observe considerable dierences among the interference potentials of several typical write patterns. In particular, we found that if one parallel program writes large output les while another one writes small checkpointing les, then the latter is slowed down when the checkpointing les are small enough and the former is vice versa. Moreover, applications with a few processes writing large output les already can signicantly hinder applications with many processes from checkpointing small les. Such eects can seriously impact the runtime of real applications|up to a factor of ve in one instance. Our insights and measurement techniques oer an opportunity to automatically classify the interference potential between applications and to adjust scheduling decisions accordingly. © The Authors 2019. Wheat is the most important source of food on earth and vital for food safety. It contains 75–80% carbohydrates, 9–18% protein, fiber, many vitamins (especially B vitamins), calcium, iron, and many macronutrients and micronutrients. According to data from the International Grain Council (IGC), wheat has continued to be the most important food grain source for humans in the world. Therefore, determining wheat production behavior has a very important role in food security. In this study, we have modeled and forecasted the production of wheat for 6 years from 2020 to 2025 using ARIMA and Holt’s linear trend models in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Nepal, and Pakistan, which are all countries in the South Asian region. Since there is an expectation of a decrease in wheat production in some of these countries, this study can provide these countries with the information they need to take appropriate decisions to prevent the occurrence of food problems in the future and to help deal with food security. Moreover, this projection helps with policy implications and planning.

Faster R-CNN Deep Learning Model for Pedestrian Detection from Drone Images

Pedestrian detection from a drone-based images has many potential applications such as searching for missing persons, surveillance of illegal immigrants, and monitoring of critical infrastructure. However, it is considered as a very challenge computer vision problem due to the variations in camera point of view, distance from pedestrian, changes in illuminations and weather conditions, variation in the surrounding objects, as well as present of human-like objects. Recently, deep learning-based models are getting more attention, and they have proven a great success in many object detection problems such as the detection of faces, breast masses, and vehicles. As such, this work aims to develop a deep learning-based model that will be applied for the problem of pedestrian detection from a drone-based images. Particularly, faster region-based convolutional neural network (Faster R-CNN) will be used to search for the present of a pedestrian inside the captured drone-based images. To assess the performances, a total of 1500 images were collected by S30W drone and these images were captured at different places, with various views and weather conditions, and at daytime and night-time. Results show that Faster R-CNN was able to achieve a promising result with 98% precision, 99% recall, and 98% F1 measure. Further analysis has been conducted by comparing the outcomes of Faster R-CNN with YOLO deep model on UAV123 publicly available dataset. The reported results indicated that both detection models almost reported very similar results. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Quantity of water is a major concern, but the quality is of more urgent concern due to heavy metal pollution. In this study, the focus was to develop adsorbents (tannin resin (TR) and iron-doped tannin resin (Fe-TR)) from invasive Acacia mearnsii for Pb²⁺ and Ni²⁺ in solution. The developed TR and Fe-TR were prepared directly by crosslinking and iron-grafting;respectively with thermal stable at ≤ 350 °C. Surface functionality analysis revealed the presence of chelating groups at ≈ 1688 and 3661 cm⁻¹. The crystallite sizes of the adsorbents were smaller compared to tannin;however, the % carbon and nitrogen were significantly higher. Also, the Brunauer–Emmet–Teller study revealed that iron-grafting of tannin after crosslinking increases the surface area, pore volume and pore size. Furthermore, the surface morphology of adsorbents indicated a well-defined structure with the formation of a whitish deposit and rough lump-like after ion uptake. Both adsorbents showed a type II isotherm with adsorption capacities of 40.650 mg/g and 13.763 mg/g for Pb²⁺and 120.63 mg/g and 110.74 for Ni²⁺ ion by TR and Fe-TR;respectively. The absorbate-adsorbent interactions were observed to be endothermic with negative and positive Gibb's free energy values for the adsorption of Pb²⁺ and Ni²⁺;respectively. The adsorption kinetics of Ni²⁺ is governed by several models;however, Pb²⁺ interaction is regulated by Pseudo-second-order model. Furthermore, the data generated offered the possibility of both chemisorption and physisorption processes;highlighting the flexibility and multifunctionality of tannin traps for the erasure of ion impurities in wastewater. © 2021 The Author(s)

In this work, we generalize the Balasubramanian-Bax-Franklin-Glynn (BB/FG) permanent formula to account for row multiplicities during the permanent evaluation and reduce the complexity of permanent evaluation in scenarios where such multiplicities occur. This is achieved by incorporating n-ary Gray code ordering of the addends during the evaluation. We implemented the designed algorithm on FPGA-based data-flow engines and utilized the developed accessory to speed up boson sampling simulations up to 40 photons, by drawing samples from a 60 mode interferometer at an averaged rate of ∼ 80 seconds per sample utilizing 4 FPGA chips. We also show that the performance of our BS simulator is in line with the theoretical estimation of Clifford & Clifford [1] providing a way to define a single parameter to characterize the performance of the BS simulator in a portable way. An overview of existing urban software mobile applications of the transport and economic direction is given. A model of a functional rationalizer of consumer behavior is being built. The software model of the functional rationalizer of consumer behavior (SM FRCB) was developed for the first time. PMFRCB allows the user to expand the number of his preferred needs (occupations, activities) during the daily cycle through intelligent recommendations. Also, SM FRCB allows you to optimize needs (activities, activities) at the cost and rate of their use. The SM FRCB is made in Python_3 using the libraries matplotlib, collections, numpy, pyplot, mplot3d. The analysis of consumer behavior before and after using the functional rationalizer model is carried out. The graphical results of a structural analysis of the costs of old and new consumer behavior, analysis of consumer behavior within the boundaries of the theory of possibilities and the model of transport behavior of a resident before and after applying the functional rationalizer model are presented. The prospects of further improving the SM FRCB are considered. © 2020 IEEE.

Prevention of Japanese encephalitis with different control strategies considering environmental effects: A mathematical study

Japanese encephalitis (JE), a public health problem for the entire world, is caused by a virus called Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) which is spread by mosquitoes. According to WHO’s report, nearly 68000 clinical cases of JE are reported globally each year and approximately 13600 to 20400 are deaths. Here, a mathematical model of JE is formulated considering different control measures such as vaccination, treatment, insecticide and efforts to reduce environmental discharges. An explicit expression of basic reproduction number is formulated and the stability of disease-free and endemic equilibrium of the system is analyzed. In this paper, we have formulated an optimal control problem and analyzed different strategies considering the minimum cost for applying such strategies. We have investigated the results of fixed control for endemic equilibrium both numerically and graphically. We have solved the optimal problem numerically when control parameters are time-dependent by applying Runge-Kutta 4th order forward and backward method and presented graphically. In our present work, we discussed the best cost-effective control strategy to prevent Japanese encephalitis when we consider environmental discharges have a positive impact on the breeding of mosquitoes and the growth of the pig population.
