In applications of clinical trials, tested hypotheses are often grouped as multiple hierarchically ordered families. To test such structured hypotheses, various gatekeeping strategies have been developed in the literature, such as series gatekeeping, parallel gatekeeping, tree-structured gatekeeping strategies, etc. However, these gatekeeping strategies are often either non-intuitive or less flexible when addressing increasingly complex logical relationships among families of hypotheses. In order to overcome the issue, in this paper, we develop a new family-based graphical approach, which can easily derive and visualize different gatekeeping strategies. In the proposed approach, a directed and weighted graph is used to represent the generated gatekeeping strategy where each node corresponds to a family of hypotheses and two simple updating rules are used for updating the critical value of each family and the transition coefficient between any two families. Theoretically, we show that the proposed graphical approach strongly controls the overall familywise error rate at a pre-specified level. L(0, 1)-labelling of a graph G= (V, E) is a function f from the vertex set V(G) to the set of non-negative integers such that adjacent vertices get number zero apart, and vertices at distance two get distinct numbers. The L(0, 1)-labelling number denoted by λ _{0 , 1} (G) of G is the minimum range of labels over all such labelling. In this article, it is shown that, for a trapezoid graph G with maximum vertex degree Δ , the upper bound of λ _{0 , 1} (G) is Δ - 1. © 2017, Springer (India) Private Ltd.

Effects on prey-predator with different functional responses

In this paper, we investigate the effects on prey of two predators which are also related in terms of prey-predator relationship. Different types of functional responses are con- sidered to formulate the mathematical model for predator and generalist predator of our proposed model. Harvesting effort for the generalist predator is considered and the density-dependent mortality rate for predator and generalist predator is incorporated in our proposed model. Local stability as well as global stability for the system is dis- cussed. We analyze the different bifurcation parameters to evaluate Hopf bifurcation in the neighborhood of interior equilibrium point. Finally, some numerical simulations and graphical figures are provided to verify our analytical results with the help of different sets of parameters.

The SCIP Optimization Suite provides a collection of software packages for mathematical optimization centered around the constraint integer programming framework SCIP. This paper discusses enhancements and extensions contained in version 8.0 of the SCIP Optimization Suite. Major updates in SCIP include improvements in symmetry handling and decomposition algorithms, new cutting planes, a new plugin type for cut selection, and a complete rework of the way nonlinear constraints are handled. Additionally, SCIP 8.0 now supports interfaces for Julia as well as Matlab. Further, UG now includes a unified framework to parallelize all solvers, a utility to analyze computational experiments has been added to GCG, dual solutions can be postsolved by PaPILO, new heuristics and presolving methods were added to SCIP-SDP, and additional problem classes and major performance improvements are available in *** Codes 90C05, 90C10, 90C11, 90C30, 90C90, 65Y05 Copyright © 2021, The Authors. Experimental maternal treatment with dexamethasone during lactation induces neonatal testicular and epididymal oxidative stress;Implications for early postnatal exposure

Maternal treatment with dexamethasone during lactation alters reproductive functions and increases serum corticosterone in the male offspring. Excess corticosterone may induce oxidative stress. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of maternal treatment with dexamethasone during lactation on oxidative stress indices in the testis and epididymis of a male offspring. Twenty lactating dams were divided into 4 groups (n = 5). Group 1 was administered 0.02 ml/100 g/day normal saline subcutaneously at lactation days 1–21. Groups 2, 3, and 4 were administered 100 μg/kg/day dexamethasone (Dex) subcutaneously at lactation days (LD) 1–7, 1–14, and 1–21 respectively. Testis and epididymis malondialdehyde (MDA), catalase and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities were measured as markers of oxidative stress. The mean testis and epididymis MDA were significantly raised (p < 0.05) in the dexamethasone-treated groups when compared with control. This was accompanied with a significant reduction (p < 0.05) in SOD and catalase activities in these tissues in the DexLD 1–21, when compared with control. The mean total protein level of the epididymis was significantly reduced (p < 0.05) in all the dexamethasone treated groups when compared with control. In conclusion, maternal treatment with dexamethasone during the first two weeks of lactation and throughout lactation may lead to increase in oxidative stress in the testis and epididymis of the male offspring of Wistar rats. © 2017 Elsevier B.V.

Scheduling Algorithm to Select Optimal Programme Slots in Television Channels: A Graph Theoretic Approach

In this paper, it is shown that all programmes of all television channels can be modelled as an interval graph. The programme slots are taken as the vertices of the graph and if the time duration of two programme slots have non-empty intersection, the corresponding vertices are considered to be connected by an edge. The number of viewers of a programme is taken as the weight of the vertex. A set of programmes that are mutually exclusive in respect of time scheduling is called a session. We assume that a company sets the objective of selecting the popular programmes in k parallel sessions among different channels so as to make its commercial advertisement reach the maximum number of viewers, that is, a company selects k suitable programme slots simultaneously for advertisement. The aim of the paper is, therefore, to help the companies to select the programme slots, which are mutually exclusive with respect to the time schedule of telecasting time, in such a way that the total number of viewers of the selected programme in k parallel slots rises to the optimum level. It is shown that the solution of this problem is obtained by solving the maximum weight k-colouring problem on an interval graph. An algorithm is designed to solve this just-in-time optimization problem using O(kMn ² ) time, where n and M represent the total number of programmes of all channels and the upper bound of the viewers of all programmes of all channels respectively. The problem considered in this paper is a daily life problem which is modeled by k-colouring problem on interval graph. © 2016, Springer India Pvt. Ltd.

Formation of gas hydroxide of sulfur dioxide at liquid sulfur dioxide injection in a porous medium saturated with methane and water

A mathematical model of injection of liquid sulfur dioxide into a porous medium saturated with water and methane, accompanied by the formation of SO2 gas hydrate on the frontal surface is presented. The dependences of the temperature and the coordinates for the formation front of sulfur dioxide gas hydrate on the pressure of the injection and the initial pressure of the layer are explored. It is established that at sufficiently high injection pressure values and the initial temperature of the layer, as well as the low values of the layer’s initial pressure, the temperature of the porous medium on the boundary of gas hydrate formation of sulfur dioxide may rise above the decomposition’s equilibrium temperature of the gas hydrate of sulfur dioxide. This corresponds to the appearance of a zone in a porous medium saturated with a mixture of water, sulfur dioxide and its gas hydrate, being in a state of phase equilibrium.

The paper presents the construction and analysis of vibration problem of thermoviscoelastic shells under the influence of non-stationary heat and under forced loads. The studied model was based on application of simplest finite element semidiscretization to mixed variational problem of dynamical thermoviscoelasticity. The problem in addition to the mutual influence of temperature field and stress field is also taken into account the viscoelastic properties of the material thin wall body. For assumptions quite suitable for applications we prove the well-posedness forthis model of time harmonic vibrations.

Simulation of viscoelastic flow past circular airfoil by using the modified LS-STAG immersed boundary method

The LS-STAG immersed boundary cut-cell method modification for viscoelastic flow computations is presented. Rate type viscoelastic flow models (linear and quasilinear) are considered. Rate type viscoelastic flow models (linear and quasilinear) are considered. The obtained numerical method is implemented in the LS-STAG software package developed by the author. This software allows to simulate viscous incompressible flows by using the LS-STAG method and it modifications. The LS-STAG-discretization of extra-stress equations for viscoelastic Maxwell, Jeffreys, upper-convected Maxwell, Maxwell-A, Oldroyd-B, Oldroyd-A, Johnson Segalman fluids was developed. Formulae for differential types of convected time derivatives (Oldroyd, Cotter — Rivlin, Jaumann — Zaremba — Noll derivatives) the LS-STAG discretization was obtained. Normal non-newtonian stresses are computed at the centers of base LS-STAG mesh cells and shear non-newtonian stresses are computed at the cell corners. Time-stepping algorithm is based on the first order predictor-corrector scheme. To validate developed numerical method the test problem about viscoelastic Oldroyd-B flow past a circular airfoil was used. Computational experiments were carried out at Weissenberg number in the range from 0 to 4. The computed values of the drag coefficients and the wake length are in good agreement with the experimental data.

Development of the mobile robot can be executed in two different ways. Firstly, this creation of the built-in system, secondly, the use of "ready to use" industrial components. With distribution of the industrial mobile robots in the market there are more and more components which can be used for creation of all control system and sensors of the robot mobile platform. Use of the ready components doesn't demand the hardware development that accelerates time of development and reduces cost. The chassis of the Belarus-132 mini-tractor is used as a platform of robotic system in the research, "creation" of the program for traffic control is required. Results of the practical research on design and model development of a mobile robotic complex are given.
