Several instances of pneumonia with no clear etiology were recorded in Wuhan,China,on December 31,*** world health organization(WHO)called it COVID-19 that stands for“Coronavirus Disease 2019,”which is the second version of the previously known severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)Coronavirus and identified in short as(SARSCoV-2).There have been regular restrictions to avoid the infection spread in all countries,including Saudi *** prediction of new cases of infections is crucial for authorities to get ready for early handling of the virus ***:Analysis and forecasting of epidemic patterns in new SARSCoV-2 positive patients are presented in this research using metaheuristic optimization and long short-term memory(LSTM).The optimization method employed for optimizing the parameters of LSTM is Al-Biruni Earth Radius(BER)***:To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology,a dataset is collected based on the recorded cases in Saudi Arabia between March 7^(th),2020 and July 13^(th),*** addition,six regression models were included in the conducted experiments to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed *** achieved results show that the proposed approach could reduce the mean square error(MSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and R^(2)by 5.92%,3.66%,and 39.44%,respectively,when compared with the six base *** the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to measure the significance of the proposed ***:The achieved results confirm the effectiveness,superiority,and significance of the proposed approach in predicting the infection cases of COVID-19.

In Japan, population decline and the depopulation of local regions have become social issues. Various municipalities are working to discover and promote the unique attractions of their regions. Identifying the local resources can help foster attachment to the region, potentially reducing population outflow and increasing the number of new residents. In this paper, we propose a location-based system to discover local resources and their associated stories to foster attachment to the local community. To evaluate whether this system effectively identifies local attractions and cultivates attachment to the community, we organized a town walking event in collaboration with local municipalities and members of local community groups in the event area.

Data poisoning attacks, where adversaries manipulate training data to degrade model performance, are an emerging threat as machine learning becomes widely deployed in sensitive applications. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of data poisoning including attack techniques, adversary incentives, impacts on security and reliability, detection methods, defenses, and key research gaps. We examine label flipping, instance injection, backdoors, and other attack categories that enable malicious outcomes ranging from IP theft to accidents in autonomous systems. Promising detection approaches include statistical tests, robust learning, and forensics. However, significant challenges remain in translating academic defenses like adversarial training and sanitization into practical tools ready for operational use. With safety and trustworthiness at stake, more research on benchmarking evaluations, adaptive attacks, fundamental tradeoffs, and real-world deployment of defenses is urgently needed. Understanding vulnerabilities and developing resilient machine learning pipelines will only grow in importance as data integrity is fundamental to developing safe artificial intelligence. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2023.

The purpose of the work is to develop and study methods and algorithms for intelligent classification systems for digital medical images. A method for automatic classification of medical images was developed using neural networks and transparency masks obtained by preliminary image segmentation. This allows you to generate descriptors only for those pixels that are selected by the transparency mask. Also algorithmic and software for classifying medical images has been developed. Experimental testing was carried out on ultrasound images of the pancreas. Differential diagnostics was carried out on control samples. The classes "oncology"and "pancreatitis"were divided. The diagnostic sensitivity by class turned out to be at least 0.8, while the diagnostic specificity is at least 0.85. © 2024 IEEE.

This study leverages the capabilities of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models in forecasting global Monkeypox infections, thereby demonstrating the significant potential of advanced machine learning techniques in epidemiological forecasting. Our LSTM model effectively navigates the challenges posed by non-stationary time-series data, a common issue in epidemiological studies. It successfully captures the underlying patterns in the data, producing reliable forecasts. The model’s performance was evaluated using several metrics, including RMSE, MSE, MAE, and R 2 , all of which pointed to its robust and satisfactory predictive capabilities. Our findings underscore the significant role LSTM models can play in informing the development of timely and effective disease control and prevention strategies. They thereby contribute to enhancing public health responses to emerging infectious diseases such as Monkeypox. However, despite the promising results, the study highlights the ongoing challenge of enhancing the interpretability of LSTM models, an area that warrants further research. As a future direction, efforts should focus on refining LSTM models to bolster their interpretability, ensuring their broader adoption and utility in public health practice.

Applications of internet-of-things(IoT)are increasingly being used in many facets of our daily life,which results in an enormous volume of *** computing and fog computing,two of the most common technologies used in IoT applications,have led to major security *** are on the rise as a result of the usage of these technologies since present security measures are *** artificial intelligence(AI)based security solutions,such as intrusion detection systems(IDS),have been proposed in recent *** technologies that require data preprocessing and machine learning algorithm-performance augmentation require the use of feature selection(FS)techniques to increase classification accuracy by minimizing the number of features *** the other hand,metaheuristic optimization algorithms have been widely used in feature selection in recent *** this paper,we proposed a hybrid optimization algorithm for feature selection in *** proposed algorithm is based on grey wolf(GW),and dipper throated optimization(DTO)algorithms and is referred to as *** proposed algorithm has a better balance between the exploration and exploitation steps of the optimization process and thus could achieve better *** the employed IoT-IDS dataset,the performance of the proposed GWDTO algorithm was assessed using a set of evaluation metrics and compared to other optimization approaches in 2678 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.2 the literature to validate its *** addition,a statistical analysis is performed to assess the stability and effectiveness of the proposed *** results confirmed the superiority of the proposed approach in boosting the classification accuracy of the intrusion in IoT-based networks.

With the increasing number of IoT devices, there is a growing need for bandwidth to support their communication. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of available bandwidth due to preallocated bands for various services. To address this issue, Cognitive Internet of Things (CR-IoT) enables devices to optimize their efficiency and enhance their communication capabilities by intelligently accessing available bandwidth. This is achieved through the use of soft sensing metrics, where devices continuously monitor the RF environment and transmit data opportunistically in overlay mode if a free channel is detected, or in underlay mode if not. In this paper, a soft sensing metric based hybrid transmission framework is proposed for CR-IoT devices to meet the data rate requirement for the smart city applications. The efficacy of this approach is demonstrated through simulation results. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2023.

The equations of motion for linear structures considered as continuous systems are generally non-homogeneous linear partial differential equations. Their solution is functions of time and spatial variables. The traditional analysis approach involves solving the eigenvalue problem. This yields the eigenvalues and eigenvectors, which can be used to construct the general solution of the differential equations. This approach has been widely used in mechanics and has proven effective in solving many engineering problems. In recent years, machine learning methods, particularly neural networks, have also been used to solve differential equations. These methods can learn the equation's solution directly from data without the need for explicit analytical expressions. This makes them particularly useful for complex problems that may need analytical solutions or for problems where obtaining analytical solutions takes time and effort. This paper compares the performance of these two approaches for a specific problem of the vibration of the Euler-Bernoulli beam on a Winkler-type elastic foundation subjected to a moving load. The machine learning approach learns the solution directly from data generated by solving the differential equation using a Neural Architecture Search (NAS) with Automatic Differentiation (AD) method (NASAD). The paper provides insights into the relative strengths and weaknesses of each method and highlights the potential of machine learning to solve complex problems with high accuracy and low computational sources. © 2023 COMPDYN Proceedings. Morphological synthesis is a key aspect of natural language processing that focuses on the generation of word forms from their base components - roots, stems, prefixes, affixes, and inflectional morphemes. It plays a crucial role in understanding and generating various grammatical forms of words in different languages. This process is essential for tasks such as machine translation, speech synthesis, text generation, and information retrieval. In agglutinative languages, words are formed by stringing together affixes that each represent a single grammatical function. Each morpheme retains its distinct meaning and function, making synthesis relatively predictable. In this article, using Kyrgyz as an example, we have examined the rules governing the attachment of affixes to words and assessed whether these affixes are correctly attached or if there are issues with morphological synthesis. This is, of course, a very topical issue. Because the first step in the problems of artificial intelligence is to pay attention to the features and ways of language creation.
