A Robust Pilot Decontamination Scheme in Massive MIMO Systems: Integrating Rateless Orthogonal STBC, Weighted Graph Coloring, and Channel Estimation

Even though Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems are one of the greatest innovations in wireless cellular network technology, they still face many challenges as we progress to 6G, hindering their ability to achieve the best throughput. In cellular networks, channel estimations are made using pilot sequences. Deploying these orthogonal time-frequency limited resources leads to pilot contamination, causing incorrect channel estimation due to mixed signals from neighboring cells and vice versa. Previous research has proven that this significantly decreases system performance. To reduce the impact and improve the output of Multiuser MIMO systems, this paper proposes a hybrid model combining Rateless Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes (ROSTBC), Weighted Graph Coloring Pilot Allocation (WGCPA), and Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE). While ROSTBC has the ability to adapt to channel conditions, allowing the system to perform well despite pilot contamination, WGCPA and MLE address the problems of pilot contamination and the accuracy of channel estimation, respectively. The results showed that this hybrid scheme has proven to perform better compared to previously proposed schemes, providing a valuable contribution to reliable Massive MIMO wireless communication. © 2013 IEEE.

I have studied how artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) is applied in a sustainable system called "Eugenie"for my work, project, and thesis. In this project, I get to discuss Eugenie's role in ensuring the sustainability of large environmental business organizations. I also get to discuss how it aids operation managers in making predictions about when their machines will break down days, weeks, and months in advance, allowing them to schedule maintenance cycles more effectively. In other words, Eugenie provides plant operators with data so they can prioritize repairs. Eugenie executes this process by utilizing real-time data from numerous sensors attached to large machinery and equipment in the process industry, metals and mining, oil and gas, and smart cities industries. Two products make up this program;the first is named RAY-FINN and the second is called PAPILLON. Eugenie assists businesses in a variety of ways, including:•Aids in the attainment of operational excellence by process organizations•Always raise overall profitability.•Contributes to a greener and safer future. © 2023 IEEE.

Modern organizations face rising levels of cyber risks, making cybersecurity a top priority for safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining operational continuity. Recent studies find human factors as the most critical contributors to cyber risks. These human-related risks include user misuse, user mistakes, and user malice. A large proportion of cyber risks arise when hackers use social engineering or phishing techniques to manipulate employees into disclosing confidential information. While some employees knowingly engage in these actions, some incidents occur accidentally due to a lack of awareness about cybersecurity protocols. As a result, governments around the world are enacting data protection legislation aimed at enhancing employees' cyber risk. This study explores the perception of US employees on the effectiveness of data protection legislation in countering cyber threats. It surveyed 30 randomly selected employees from various industries. The results showed that employees perceive data protection legislation as effective in mitigating employeerelated cyber risks. © 2024 IEEE.

Globally, 210 nations have been affected by the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), which has been classified as a pandemic. The modern health system, as well as the economic, educational, and social sides of society, have all been severely impacted. While the rate of transmission keeps increasing, several cooperative strategies between stakeholders to create cutting-edge methods of screening and detecting COVID-19 instances among people at a comparable rate have been noticed. Also, the importance of computational models connected to the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution in accomplishing the desired feat has been emphasized. Unfortunately, there is a gap in the precision of COVID-19 case detection, prediction, and contact tracking. For patients with COVID-19 in isolation units, teleultrasound (TUS), particularly with the support of fifth generation (5G) wireless transmission technology, can offer rapid monitoring, quick clinical progress assessment, and assistance with guiding interventional procedures. Also, it helps conserve medical resources like equipment and supplies while lowering the risk of infection among medical personnel. The review of computer models presented in this work can be used to improve the effectiveness of COVID-19 pandemic case detection and prediction. We concentrate on adoptable big data, AI, and nature-inspired computing solutions for the current pandemic. According to the review, models inspired by nature have shown strong performance in feature selection for medical problems. In pandemic-related cases like COVID-19, contact tracing using big data analytics should also be investigated. © 2023 IEEE.

Wireless sensor networks and green networking have been major research areas in the field of communication technology for the past few decades. In particular, the development of 6G communication systems has brought renewed focus on these areas, as the demands for higher data rates, more diverse applications, and lower energy consumption continue to increase. The use of wireless sensor networks in 6G communication systems has been widely explored in the literature, and has shown great potential for a wide range of applications, including environmental monitoring, industrial process control, and healthcare. However, a key challenge in the deployment of these networks is ensuring their energy efficiency, as the demands on the network will be much higher than in previous generations. To address this challenge, researchers have proposed various green networking techniques, such as energy harvesting and low-power communication protocols, which have been shown to significantly reduce the energy consumption of the sensors. In addition to improving the energy efficiency of wireless sensor networks, researchers have also studied their reliability, scalability, and adaptability. These properties are important in 6G communication systems, as the demands on the network are expected to be much higher than in previous generations. Researchers have proposed various methods to improve the reliability, scalability, and adaptability of wireless sensor networks, including the use of error-correction codes, redundant communication channels, and machine learning algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

The basic goal of the IoT is to permit the online connection and communication of everyday physical objects like appliances, vehicles, and other gadgets. This paves the way for effortless and automated data collection and exchange, as well as interaction between the objects themselves and with humans. The Internet of Everything (IoE) is an expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) that aims to maximize and improve human life by connecting and making the most of all available resources (humans, information, and technology). The transportation, healthcare, agricultural, energy, and manufacturing sectors are all examples. The IoIT aims to incorporate AI and ML within the IoT's interconnected network of physical items. These objects can then independently behave in response to the information they have gathered and the instructions they have been given. This has the potential to lead to smarter, more efficient systems that can react to new information and human input in real time. The Internet of Things, the Internet of Everything, and the Industrial Internet of Things all have the same overarching goal: to pave the way for the development of more efficient and intelligent systems and processes that can enhance a wide range of human endeavors. However, in order to make sure that these technologies are used in a responsible and ethical way, it will be necessary to carefully analyze their consequences and the issues they provide. © 2023 IEEE.

Skin diseases are health issues that can be experienced by pets and potentially be transmitted from wild animals. However, current prediction systems predominantly rely on complex calculations that necessitate high computational power, making them challenging to deploy on mobile applications. Therefore, this study aims to optimize a skin disease detection system based on convolutional neural networks (CNN) using datasets from both wild and domestic cats. The quantized globalization model is a modified ResNet50 converted with TensorFlow Lite. This 8-bit quantization is necessary to develop a lightweight deep learning model that could operate on low-computational power units, such as smartphone or 8-bit edge computing devices. This study utilized a dataset comprising 343 images, categorized into six classes: five classes of diseases (abscesses, mange, ringworm, skin cancer, dermatitis) and one class for healthy skin. Next, the dataset was augmented to increase data variation and quantity. Subsequently, the dataset was trained on the ResNet-50 model and then converted to TensorFlow Lite with 8-bit integer data type. Finally, the quantized globalization model was validated using a separate 20% of the dataset. The validation results yielded an accuracy score of 0.930, a precision of 0.908, a recall of 0.902, and an F1-score of 0.903. Additionally, there was a significant 74.7% reduction in model size compared to the non-quantized version, demonstrating the efficiency and effectiveness of the quantization process in maintaining performance while substantially decreasing the computational resource requirements. © 2024 IEEE.

Anomaly detection from medical images is badly needed for automated diagnosis. For example, medical images obtained with several modalities, such as magnetic resonance (MR) and confocal microscopy, need to be classified for anomaly detection. The MR images may contain tumors that need to be detected with anomaly detection techniques. In MR imaging, brain tumors are represented as areas composed of abnormal cells that need to be detected. On the other hand, confocal microscopy can be used for retinal imaging. Hence, there is a need to apply classification techniques for diagnosing diseases of the eye, such as Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), which leads to exudates in different regions of the retina. The detection of exudates is necessary for the diagnosis of DR. In this paper, two models are presented for the classification of MR and retinal images. Much research has been done in this area, but it did not achieve high accuracy of classification in an acceptable time. In addition, the previous models did not consider both types of image modalities considered in this paper. The suggested models are Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (Conv-LSTM). They are used to classify normal and abnormal cases of both brain tumor and DR diseases. The CNN model is composed of six convolutional layers and six max-pooling layers. A soft-max activation function takes the classification decision. The proposed Conv-LSTM model is composed of three stages: pre-processing, feature extraction, and classification. The deep learning model performance is better than those of traditional networks. The CNN gives an accuracy of 94.26% for DR classification and 95.8% for brain tumor classification, while the Conv-LSTM gives the maximum accuracy of 96.41% for DR classification and 97.4% for brain tumor classification. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Gait stability indices are used for the quantitative assessment of individual fall risk. The margin of stability (MoS) is a popular gait stability index. This index computes the fall risks in the anterior and mediolateral directions;however, the relationships between the anterior and mediolateral MoSs have not been studied. We analyzed the MoS values in these two directions and several gait parameters using canonical correlation analysis, and obtained the linear relationships between these two groups. The gait kinematic data of 300 strides of 60 elderlies from an open database were used for this analysis. Our analysis verified that the MoS values in the anterior and mediolateral directions exhibited a weak relationship. The anterior posture became stable as the anterior gait speed decreased or the cadence increased. Furthermore, gait motions with greater step widths exhibited higher mediolateral MoS values, indicating greater stability. These findings indicate that the anterior and mediolateral postural stabilities are independently related to different gait parameters, which can aid in understanding stable walking strategies. © 2022 IEEE.
