A graph neural network technique for the prediction of cerebral stroke using an unbalanced medical dataset

Cerebral stroke is a major health problem, and if not recognized and treated immediately, it can result in considerable morbidity and fatality. Predicting the possibility of a stroke can help with intervention, resulting in improved patient outcomes. However, constructing reliable stroke prediction algorithms can be difficult, especially when working with unbalanced medical data. Timely detection of the various warning signs of a stroke can significantly reduce its severity. To deal with unbalanced data, this research proposed the hybridization of two techniques Noise Reduction and oversampling technique (Noise Reduction-Border Line- Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (NR-BL-SMOTE) which only oversamples or strengthens the borderline minority class. It aims at eliminating noise from minority groups while preventing the making of noisy samples and BL-SMOTE is used to create synthetic data to balance the dataset. After that, feature extraction is done to extract features from the cerebral stroke prediction dataset using fine-tuned VGG19 architecture to improve the performance of the proposed model. The fine-tuned model uses an already trained network and re-trains the part of that by the new data set. Finally, classification is done using a graph neural network (GNN) to classify the prediction of normal or cerebral stroke (ischemic and hemorrhagic). Further, to optimize the accuracy of the classification performance;Improved Golden Jackal Optimization (IGJO) is done by repeating their iterations on the GNN hidden layer until we get the final optimal value. The proposed model will be simulated using the PYTHON tool. Then in the simulation results, the proposed approach achieves more powerful classification accuracy than established technologies, demonstrating its efficiency in stroke prediction and classification. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

A reliable and secure video steganography method based on 4d-logistic mapping

Data security is becoming more and more crucial due to developments in communication and information technology, particularly when it comes to video transmission. This research provides a unique approach that combines 4D Logistic Mapping (4DLM) with MASK cryptography technology to improve video data security. The five steps of the suggested approach are as follows: gathering video, extracting frames, compressing data using the LZW technique, encrypting it using MASK, and embedding it using 4DLM. To protect the video frames, MASK encryption uses a single matrix and four arrays, advancing through matrix initialization, key scheduling, and substitution/diffusion. 4DLM is used after encryption to improve the system's overall security and effectiveness. This model's major goal is to keep performance high while safeguarding video data from unwanted access. Data confidentiality is significantly improved by the suggested strategy, as shown by simulations performed with the Python program. For the example video sequences, the Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) was close to 99%, which indicates better performance than current methods. MASK and 4D Logistic Mapping together provide a powerful answer for today's data security issues by providing an effective and safe method of video data protection. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Predicting heart disease based on an intelligent healthcare monitoring system using HPM-NIA

Before a heart attack happens, treating cardiac patients effectively depends on precise heart disease prediction. A heart disease prediction system for the determination of whether the patient has a heart disease condition or not is to be developed. The paper employs a diverse array of models within the heart disease prediction system, each serving a specific purpose to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Data pre-processing techniques, including normalization, standardization, and missing value removal, ensure the quality and consistency of the dataset. Feature extraction methods such as mean, median, standard deviations, and higher-order statistical features contribute to extracting informative features crucial for prediction. The Multi-Objective Forest Particle Swarm Optimization (MOFPSO) algorithm (hybrid version of Forest Optimization (FO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO)) is introduced for efficient feature selection, balancing predictive accuracy and model complexity. Finally, the prediction model, Naïve Bayes trained with Meliorated Ant Colony Optimization algorithm (NB-MACO), is implemented for its simplicity and effectiveness in handling medical datasets. This integration fine-tunes the Naïve Bayes classifier’s hyperparameters, optimizing its performance and resulting in an accuracy of 91.974%. An optimized multi-scale convolutional autoencoder for efficient abnormal event detection using rgb, depth and optical flow data

In this study, we propose a novel framework for detecting abnormal events in surveillance videos, a critical yet challenging task in security applications. This research introduces a robust and efficient solution for video anomaly detection, offering substantial improvements in surveillance systems' ability to detect abnormal events, thereby contributing to enhanced security measures in public spaces. The proposed framework utilizes a Multiscale Convolutional Autoencoder (MSCAE) that processes inputs from RGB, depth, and optical flow video clips, enhancing the detection accuracy in complex scenes characterized by varying object scales, aspect ratios, and occlusions. To address the challenge of noise and preserve edges in video data, we implement a two-pass bilateral smooth filtering method, which is effective for noise-invariant, edge-preserving image smoothing. For object detection within these complex scenes, an enhanced Faster R-CNN model is employed. This model's performance is further refined through transfer learning on a dataset specifically composed of abnormal event videos. We also introduce significant improvements to the region proposal network (RPN) of the Faster R-CNN, particularly in non-maximum suppression (NMS) and anchor generation techniques, to better detect anomalies in diverse and complex environments. Furthermore, the MSCAE is integrated with Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural networks to classify the detected anomalies, creating an end-to-end solution for video anomaly detection. Hyperparameter optimization for our deep learning models is performed using the Chameleon Swarm algorithm, ensuring optimal model performance. Our framework was rigorously tested on the CUHK Avenue dataset, where it achieved a remarkable 99.5% accuracy, significantly outperforming existing methods and demonstrating the effectiveness of our approach. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Optimized deep autoencoder and BiLSTM for intrusion detection in IoTs-Fog computing

Our world is rapidly evolving toward the Internet of Things (IoT), that connects all gadgets to digital services and simplifies our lives. As IoT devices expand, network vulnerabilities may rise, leading to more network threats. An intrusion detection system (IDS) with low latency and high accuracy is essential in this dynamic IoT environment to identify threats. Many IDSs utilize deep learning (DL) methods, but adjusting parameters for different environments can be challenging. This work proposes an improved hybrid Deep autoencoder (DAE) and Bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) for fog item installation to protect vital networks from prompt and efficient malicious threat detection. Determining the hyperparameters of complicated DL networks is tough. Low accuracy, efficiency, and performance in high-dimensional models afflict existing approaches. Therefore, the Sparrow Search Optimization algorithm (SSOA) is adopted to enhance model hyperparameters. Employing IoT-based data, we assess the effectiveness of our suggested model. The outcome of the experiment obtained by analyzing the suggested IDS utilizing CICIDS2017 and BoT-IoT datasets attested to their supremacy over modern systems that are currently available in terms of precision, accuracy, FAR, error rate, and detection rate (DR). To learn more about how well our model works, added two additional metrics: Cohen's Kappa coefficients and Mathew correlation. The proposed optimization model demonstrated its ability to work well with various platforms, adapt to changing requirements, and handle larger workloads. In addition, it is possible to enhance the intrusion detection rate by minimizing both the error rate and computational time. Drug–target interactions prediction based on similarity graph features extraction and deep learning

Identifying drug–target interactions (DTIs) is a critical step in both drug repositioning. The labor-intensive, time-consuming, and costly nature of classic DTI laboratory studies makes it imperative to create efficient computer algorithms to forecast possible DTIs. However, current computational approaches that predict potential drug–target interactions (DTIs) suffer from some limitations, like finding the best similarity measures or negative samples, and thus require substantial performance improvement. This study proposes an integrated approach based on feature representation and deep learning to predict DTIs. We extract the relevant features of drugs and proteins from heterogeneous networks using graph mining techniques. The proposed approach constructs a heterogeneous graph from the known drug–protein interactions, protein–protein, and drug–drug similarities. Then applying two feature extraction techniques to extract the features, then utilizing these features in training a deep learning model to predict the potential DTIs. also, a novel algorithm is proposed to find the negative samples based on the drug and protein similarity matrices. Four Benchmark datasets are used to evaluate the proposed approach. Our approach achieves the highest AUC (area under the ROC curve) across all datasets (0.98) with around 2% increases over the existing methods. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed approach outperforms the baseline methods in predicting DTI, and our negative sample-identifying algorithm could be established as a competitive solution. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

This research concentrates on author profiling using transfer learning models for classifying age and gender. The investigation encompassed a diverse set of transfer learning techniques, including Roberta, BERT, alBERT, Distil BERT, Distil Roberta, ELECTRA, and XLNet. Through meticulous evaluation using metrics such as the Matthews Correlation Coefficient, Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and F1 Score, the study examined the efficacy of these models. The curated dataset was divided for gender and age tasks, resulting in robust gender prediction with the XLNet model and age prediction with the BERT model. Notably, the XLNet model achieved the highest MCC (0.7946), Accuracy (0.8957), Precision (0.8992), Recall (0.8957), and F1 Score (0.8958) values in gender classification, while the BERT model excelled in age prediction with an MCC of (0.7338), Accuracy of (0.8220), Precision of (0.8324), Recall of (0.8220), and F1 Score of (0.8243). Visualized outcomes provide valuable insights into the model’s performance nuances, paving the way for their practical implementation. Enhancing User Experience in AI-Powered Human-computer Communication with Vocal Emotions Identification Using a Novel Deep Learning Method

Voice, motion, and mimicry are naturalistic control modalities that have replaced text or display-driven control in human-computer communication (HCC). Specifically, the vocals contain a lot of knowledge, revealing details about the speaker’s goals and desires, as well as their internal condition. Certain vocal characteristics reveal the speaker’s mood, intention, and motivation, while word study assists the speaker’s demand to be understood. Voice emotion recognition has become an essential component of modern HCC networks. Integrating findings from the various disciplines involved in identifying vocal emotions is also challenging. Many sound analysis techniques were developed in the past. Learning about the development of artificial intelligence (AI), and especially Deep Learning (DL) technology, research incorporating real data is becoming increasingly common these days. Thus, this research presents a novel selfish herd optimization-tuned long/short-term memory (SHO-LSTM) strategy to identify vocal emotions in human communication. The RAVDESS public dataset is used to train the suggested SHO-LSTM technique. Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC) and wiener filter (WF) techniques are used, respectively, to remove noise and extract features from the data. LSTM and SHO are applied to the extracted data to optimize the LSTM network’s parameters for effective emotion recognition. Python software was used to execute our proposed framework. In the finding assessment phase, Numerous metrics are used to evaluate the proposed model’s detection capability, Such as F1-score (95%), precision (95%), recall (96%), and accuracy (97%). The suggested approach is tested on a Python platform, and the SHO-LSTM’s outcomes are contrasted with those of other previously conducted research. Based on comparative assessments, our suggested approach outperforms the current approaches in vocal emotion recognition.

Water resource management and disaster response have become some of the most challenging tasks, especially when disasters pose a threat, as delays could lead to more impacts. The centralized system used for water dynamics and disaster control usually presents itself as a scalability problem since more clients present a problem, the system's latency is high, and the system is always prone to a single-point failure. The previous approach lacks flexibility and does not synchronously guarantee the integration of several subjects in real time, especially during unpredictable disaster conditions. The proposed FL-MAPPO model surpasses current methods by facilitating decentralized, privacy-protecting decision-making minimizing latency and single-point failures. In contrast to LSTM, Bi-LSTM, and DRNN, which are based on centralized data processing, FL-MAPPO provides real-time adaptability and effective resource management. Experimental results validate that it has lower MSE, higher R² scores, and quicker response times, making it better suited for flood prediction and disaster response. To this end, this study advances a solution through a Decentralized Learning-Driven Multi-Agent Autonomous System (DL-MAAS). The new feature is a Decentralized Cooperation environment in which intelligent and self-managing agents learn utilizing Reinforcement Learning (RL) and Federated Learning (FL) algorithms for enhancing smart water management and real-time disaster relief. IoT devices are adopted for sensing and data acquisition, adaptive learning for decision-making, and optimization of energy use among the agents in the system through metaheuristic algorithms. The research methodology for implementing the proposed solution involves the design of a multi-layered architecture, including data acquisition, decentralized learning, and real-time execution.
