The current period is marked by the increased application of web servers and the use of web 2.0 for many utilities. As the access to the Web 2.0 by the global users is on ever increase, the hijackers eye on the Web 2.0 for attacks. The principal technology behind the Web 2.0 is the AJAX which now becomes the target of many security attacks. In the current study we have introduced AJAX PRO, a prototype tool for AJAX vulnerability prevention has visualized an enhanced architecture to reflect the AJAX vulnerability and the architecture is applied in randomized trails and the results call for increased applications. ©2008 IEEE.

This paper describes E-TCP, an evolutionary computation approach for TCP. It is designed to avoid heavy congested areas by using an evolutionary path adaptation of the outgoing packets. E-TCP is evaluated through simulations using ns2. E-TCP delivers a significant performance improvement for bulk data transfers. Copyright 2008 ACM.

Rock magnetism and magnetic anisotropy in folded sills and basaltic flows:A case study of volcanics from the Taimyr Peninsula, Northern Russia

Magnetic measurements were performed on apparently deformed igneous rocks of 23 sites from the southeastern part of the Taimyr Peninsula. Rock magnetism and reflected light microscopy analyses reveal that fine-grained titanomagnetites up to pure magnetites mainly carry the majority of magnetic fabrics in the sills, and that the slightly coarser Ti-poor or -medium titanomagnetites carry most mag-netic fabrics in the basaltic flows. Magnetic anisotropies were determined by applying anisotropy of low-field magnetic susceptibility (AMS) on 180 unheated samples and 128 samples that had been pre-viously heated to 600°C during a paleomagnetic study to detect heating effects on the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) properties of volcanic rocks. Laboratory heating significantly affects anisotropy variations of these igneous rocks corresponding to the mineralogical changes during the heat treatment.

In automated diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy, retinal images are used. The retinal images of poor quality need to be enhanced before the extraction of features and abnormalities. Segmentation of retinal images is essential for this purpose. The segmentation is employed to smooth and strengthen images by separating the noisy area from the overall image thus resulting in retinal image enhancement and less processing time. In this paper, we present a novel automated approach for segmentation of colored retinal images, which involves two steps. In the first step, we create binary noise segmentation mask to segment the retinal image. Second step creates final segmentation mask by applying morphological techniques. We used standard retinal image databases Diaretdb0 and Diaretdb1 to test the validation of our segmentation technique. Experimental results indicate our approach is effective and can get higher segmentation accuracy.

The complexity of modern digital circuits has increased enormously particularly due to paradigm shift from system-on-board to designs embracing embedded cores-based system-on-chips (SOCs). The increased complexity has resulted in a huge challenge in setting up their appropriate fault testing environment. Though enormous efforts were directed to rapidly test very large-scale integrated (VLSI) circuit chips with reasonable cost, with advances in technology, new frontiers emerged. This paper aims at developing a method to verify and test circuit architecture under hardware and software codesign environment, targeting specifically embedded cores-based system-on-chips (SOCs). The well-known concept of design-for-testability (DFT) is utilized in the paper based on the use of ModelSim simulation and verification tool to test simulate the entire design. Some partial results on ISCAS 85 combinational benchmark circuit are provided in the paper, besides a comparison of the results with some previous works.

Jane sees 50 compiler errors as a challenge. John sees them as defeat. Psychology research suggests these contrasting reactions may stem from students' self-theories, or their beliefs about themselves. Jane's reaction is characteristic of a growth mindset, the idea that with hard work and persistence, one's intelligence can increase. John's behavior is in line with a fixed mindset, the belief that individuals are born with a certain amount of intelligence and there is little they can do to change it. Numerous studies of self-theories have shown that students with a growth mindset perform better in academic settings;they cope more effectively with challenges, maintain higher grades, and are less susceptible to stereotype threat. In this study we attempted a "saying is believing" intervention to encourage CS1 students to adopt a growth mindset both in general and towards programming. Despite notable success of this type of intervention in a non-CS context, our results offered few statistically significant differences both from pre-survey to post-survey and between control and intervention groups. Further, the statistically significant results we did find differed in direction between institutions (some students exhibited more growth response, others less). We analyzed further evidence to explore possible confounding issues including whether our intervention even registered with students and how students interpreted the questions which we used to assess their self-theories. This paper presents the design and implementation of an open visual object-oriented programming environment (VOOPE). The environment supports a programming approach in which a program is created using extended visual objects (EVOs) - the objects having visual forms and dynamic behaviors. The environment allows creation of EVOs and modification of their behavior to adapt the changing software requirements. Thereby, VOOPE allows incremental software development using the learning capability of EVOs without rebuilding the software.

A novel configuration of a New Erbium Doped Fiber Laser (EDFL) is constructed and analyzed. It utilizes embedded fiber-loop mirrors, tunable filters with a linear laser oscillation. Implementing the Linear Cavity Fiber Loop (LCFL) as a new configuration using three circulators and two Tunable Band-pass Filters (TBF), the output power in the Single Wavelength (SW) laser was improved. The output power of the proposed laser system is more than 18 dBm at 1560nm. The Side Mode Suppression Ratio (SMSR) in the output power in this experiment was also high, greater than 64 dB. It is found that the double filtering technique in the proposed configuration enables the system to achieve higher power and lower Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) noise levels.
