Sketching indoor scenes is helpful in daily activities as it allows for quick visualization and planning of room layouts, furniture arrangements, design ideas, or scene creation for games and entertainment. This motivates our proposal of Sketch2Reality, a system to simplify the creation of immersive 3D indoor scenes from 2D sketch images. Users sketch their desired scene, and our system identifies sketched objects and their positions, then retrieves and populates corresponding 3D models into the generating 3D scene. Users can then modify the scene, rearrange furniture, adjust lighting, and add or remove objects. Integration with Virtual Reality technology allows users to experience and interact with the scene realistically. Our experiments with three groups of users with different experience levels in 3D scene design and creation demonstrate the efficiency and usefulness of our solution. Sketch2Reality empowers users to dynamically bring their ideas to life, combining sketching, AI assistance for 3D generation, and VR for enhanced creativity and design exploration. © 2023 ACM.

The article discusses the challenges of using deep learning in healthcare due to the lack of extensive medical datasets and concerns about confidentiality and privacy. The article then focuses on the analysis of skin lesion images, which are complex and difficult to classify. The article presents a unique CNN model (skin-net) using a progressively private federated learning architecture to potentially address these issues. Recent advancements in medical image analysis using convolutional neural networks and federated learning techniques have shown promising results (96.19 accuracy, 96.37 sensitivity and 96.53 specificity) in accurately classifying skin diseases while maintaining data privacy. Using these methods offers a potentially effective way to examine human skin while improving the model's generalization performance through image augmentation. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper,an advanced and optimized Light Gradient Boosting Machine(LGBM)technique is proposed to identify the intrusive activities in the Internet of Things(IoT)*** followings are the major contributions:i)An optimized LGBM model has been developed for the identification of malicious IoT activities in the IoT network;ii)An efficient evolutionary optimization approach has been adopted for finding the optimal set of hyper-parameters of LGBM for the projected ***,a Genetic Algorithm(GA)with k-way tournament selection and uniform crossover operation is used for efficient exploration of hyper-parameter search space;iii)Finally,the performance of the proposed model is evaluated using state-of-the-art ensemble learning and machine learning-based model to achieve overall generalized performance and *** outcomes reveal that the proposed approach is superior to other considered methods and proves to be a robust approach to intrusion detection in an IoT environment.

Security and privacy are the leading solicitude in cloud computing since users have restricted privilege on the data maintained by distinct service providers at remote locations. The situation becomes more strenuous when a huge amount of data is sensed and produced by wearable devices as it is usually considered more sensitive and heterogeneous. The majority of existing authenticated solutions for such a challenging environment either suffer due to high computation and communication costs or due to the fact that they are susceptible to known cyber threats making them impractical for utilization. Therefore we introduced a cost-effective and secure authenticated scheme for the cloud-assisted remote wearable health monitoring system. Informal security proof is discussed to showcase the security strength of the proposed scheme against known security threats. After that a detailed performance analysis of the proposed scheme with related protocols reveals the fact that it can reduce the computation and communication costs by more than 37% and 40%, respectively. Moreover, our scheme offers some added security features like physical and desynchronization attacks prevention. © 2013 IEEE.

With the rapid proliferation of edge computing-based solutions, many edge computing applications use the cloud for data processing and analysis. However, latency-sensitive applications have low latency requirements and can be very bandwidth hungry, so processing their collected data through cloud servers is not efficient and cost-effective. For example, traffic management and health condition monitoring applications, require real-time data processing at the network edge to respond immediately to unexpected events. These applications are typically executed as workflows with dependent tasks that require careful scheduling to allocate the appropriate resources to the tasks so that the execution is done in a way that satisfies the users' target functions. In this work, we evaluate some traditional scheduling heuristics for the execution of workflow tasks in an edge-computing scenario. Our goal is to compare their performance in terms of execution time and cost and show that these heuristics, previously used in scheduling in the context of cloud environments, can also be used in edge computing scenarios. The results show that the MinMin and PSO scheduling algorithms offer the best results with regard to execution time and cost. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Efficient COVID-19 super pixel segmentation algorithm using MCFO-based SLIC

In computer vision segmentation field, super pixel identity has become an important index in the recently segmentation algorithms especially in medical images. Simple Linear Iterative Clustering (SLIC) algorithm is one of the most popular super pixel methods as it has a great robustness, less sensitive to the image type and benefit to the boundary recall in different kinds of image processing. Recently, COVID-19 severity increased with the lack of an effective treatment or vaccine. As the Corona virus spreads in an unknown manner, th-ere is a strong need for segmenting the lungs infected regions for fast tracking and early detection, no matter how small. This may consider difficult to be achieved with traditional segmentation techniques. From this perspective, this paper presents an efficient modified central force optimization (MCFO)-based SLIC segmentation algorithm to discuss chest CT images for detecting the positive COVID-19 cases. The proposed MCFO-based SLIC segmentation algorithm performance is evaluated and compared with the thresholding segmentation algorithm using different evaluation metrics such as accuracy, boundary recall, F-measure, similarity index, MCC, Dice, and Jaccard. The outcomes demonstrated that the proposed MCFO-based SLIC segmentation algorithm has achieved better detection for the small infected regions in CT lung scans than the thresholding segmentation. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

User Experience (UX) evaluation has a significant importance for any interactive application. Mobile device applications have additional limitations to convey good user experiences (UX) due to the usage and features of mobile devices in ubiquitous computing contexts. There are a lot of automated tools available for evaluating, such applications particularly developed for Android and iOS. Automated UX evaluation provides a number of strengths which are able to overcome the limitations of non-automated (moderated) counterparts. Automated UX evaluation is regarded as unexplored field, especially when it is adopted for the UX evaluation of complex mobile application. Despite these, automated UX evaluation tools are unexplored and should only be used in coupling with traditional UX evaluation techniques. Hence, this study aims to discuss the literature in automated UX evaluation and to highlight the UX measurements that merit further investigation. This paper presents the most fre-quently used automated UX evaluation tools for mobile applications. Therefore, the study analyzes existing automated UX tools and frameworks and identifies which UX attributes and measurements of automated UX evaluation are likely to be of use in future research. Moreover, we discuss the strengths and limitations of automated UX evaluation methods for mobile applications. Finally, the paper provides an overview of automated UX evaluation techniques and tools. This study introduces a long-short-term memory(LSTM)-based neural network model developed for detecting anomaly events in care-independent smart homes,focusing on the critical application of elderly fall *** balances the dataset using the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique(SMOTE),effectively neutralizing bias to address the challenge of unbalanced datasets prevalent in time-series classification *** proposed LSTM model is trained on the enriched dataset,capturing the temporal dependencies essential for anomaly *** model demonstrated a significant improvement in anomaly detection,with an accuracy of 84%.The results,detailed in the comprehensive classification and confusion matrices,showed the model’s proficiency in distinguishing between normal activities and *** study contributes to the advancement of smart home safety,presenting a robust framework for real-time anomaly monitoring.

This research focuses on enhancing the efficiency of Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) systems through the development of an accurate weather prediction model. Leveraging solar energy data, the project aims to forecast key weather parameters such as solar radiation, temperature, and humidity. The objective is to optimize the performance of the AWG device across diverse weather conditions. By integrating advanced weather prediction, the study endeavors to enable proactive adjustments in the AWG operation, ensuring optimal water production. This research contributes to the sustainable utilization of solar energy for atmospheric water generation, addressing water scarcity challenges with a forward-thinking and adaptive approach. © 2024 IEEE.
