Images are widely used in social networks, necessitating efficient and secure transmission, especially in bandwidth-constrained environments. This article aims to develop a color image encryption algorithm that enhances security while optimizing computational efficiency. A novel parallel color image encryption algorithm based on the 2-D logistic-Rulkov neuron map (2D-LRNM) is proposed. In this approach, the three channels of the color image are first separated. Cross-channel information interaction is introduced to form three new channels, which are then processed in parallel. During the encryption process of each channel, a block-wise parallel encryption mechanism is applied, ensuring simultaneous encryption of each block. This block-wise strategy effectively leverages parallel computing resources and balances the task load. To meet the demand for a large number of keystreams during encryption, the 2D-LRNM is introduced. It combines the simplicity and chaotic properties of the Logistic map with the multitimescale dynamics and neurodynamic behaviors of the Rulkov map. By overcoming the dimensional limitations inherent in the single Logistic map, this approach extends the system to a 2-D framework, significantly increasing the complexity of chaotic behavior and improving its unpredictability. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed encryption algorithm achieves high security and reduces computation time by approximately 83.3%. © 2014 IEEE.

In recent years, the proliferation of smart devices and associated technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), has witnessed a substantial growth. However, the limited processing power and storage capacity of smart devices make them vulnerable to cyberattacks, rendering traditional security and cryptography techniques inadequate. To address these challenges, blockchain (BC) technology has emerged as a promising solution. This study introduces an efficient framework for the Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT), presenting a novel cryptosystem for color medical images using BC technology in conjunction with the IoT, Secure Hash Algorithm 256-bit (SHA256), shuffling, and bitwise XOR operations. The encryption scheme is specifically designed for an IIoT grid network computing system, relying on diffusion and confusion principles. In this paper, the proposed cryptosystem strength is evaluated against differential attacks with several comprehensive metrics. Simulation results and theoretical analysis demonstrate the cryptosystem effectiveness, showcasing its ability to provide high levels of security and immunity to data leakage. The proposed cryptosystem offers a versatile range of technical solutions and strategies that are adaptable to various scenarios. The evaluation metrics, with approximate values of 99.61% for Number of Pixels Change Rate (NPCR), 33.46% for Unified Average Changed Intensity (UACI), and 8 for information entropy, closely align with the desired ideal outcomes. Consequently, this paper contributes to the advancement of secure and private systems for medical image encryption based on BC technology, potentially mitigating the risks associated with cyberattacks on smart medical devices. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

The term Internet of Things (IoT) is used to refer as embedded devices or objects with internet access, allowing them to communicate globally, interacting with people and networks. IoT security issues are directly related to the widespread use of its systems. This paper examines the security technologies employed in IoT and their respective features and applications. Additionally, it addresses the various security concerns associated with IoT-based systems and services, highlighting their occurrence within the three-layer framework of IoT. These days, as IoT introduces advanced application architectures that minimizes human intervention by integrating businesses in some way to address digital computer processes by communicating within a given network. Moreover, it will be discussed the key technologies associated with Advanced Encryption Standards (AES) and the changes brought in market value and usage of services that has been taken place b since the IoT incorporated. © 2024 IEEE.

Humanity has suffered catastrophically due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the most reliable diagnoses of COVID-19 is RT-PCR (reverse-transcription polymer chain reaction) testing. This method, however, has its limitations. It is time consuming and requires scalability. This research work carries out a preliminary prognosis of COVID-19, which is scalable and less time consuming. The research carried out a competitive analysis of four machine-learning models namely, Multilayer Perceptron, Convolutional Neural Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks with Long Short-Term Memory, and VGG-19 with Support Vector Machines. Out of these models, Multilayer Perceptron outperformed with higher specificity of 94.5% and accuracy of 96.8%. The results show that Multilayer Perceptron was able to distinguish between positive and negative COVID-19 coughs by a robust feature embedding technique. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Innovative grid technology leverages information and Communication technology (ICT) to enhance energy efficiency and mitigate losses. This paper introduces a 'novel three-tier hierarchical framework for smart homes within the Internet of Things (IoT)' ecosystem, addressing the current shortage of intelligent solutions that underutilize IoT advantages. Our framework's primary objective is to elevate smart homes to the microgrid level, enabling the seamless integration from the microgrid's renewable distributed energy sources and attaining maximum energy efficiency. In addition to traditional data processing, we propose the application of fog computing in smart homes. Through a rigorous simulation using real smart meter datasets, our study demonstrates that fog computing, mainly when using predictive filtering, may drastically cut down on the amount of data being sent and the load on the home's network. This innovation holds immense potential for revolutionizing energy management and resource allocation in the context of smart homes, thus contributing to a sustainable and efficient future. This research represents a critical step towards harnessing the power of IoT and fog computing in smart grids and homes, offering a promising path towards more intelligent, eco-friendly, and energy-efficient living spaces. © 2024 IEEE.

The twenty-first century has witnessed widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL). These techniques have provided reliable solutions in various areas, including statistics, information theory, and mathematics. Given the prevalence of ML techniques, there exist various adversaries which question the robustness of ML models. Adversaries aim to manipulate models to their advantage, reducing their performance and accuracy. Data poisoning attack is one such adversary in which the attacker manipulates models by introducing specially crafted poisoned data into the training dataset. This paper presents the performance analysis of different machine learning models with and without the influence of data poisoning attack to predict the probability of diabetes and its effect on accuracy and precision. It has been observed that the SVM (RBF) classifier performs best on clean data, while the KNN classifier is highly affected by data poisoning, with a lesser impact on the SVM (Linear kernel) classifier. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
