Scintillating materials play vital role in characterization of x-ray intensity sensors according to linearity and operating range. In this study, Cesium iodide (CsI) and Scheelite (CaWO4) coupled x-ray sensors are characterized on the basis of varied x-ray tube voltage, tube current and distance between x-ray source and sensor to conclude towards selection of efficient x-ray intensity sensor. These sensors are employed to measure the unattenuated (primary) x-ray intensity generated by Computed Tomography (CT) machine. Specially developed x-ray Io device monitor is used to conduct test with designed sensors. Various commercially available photodiodes are coupled with Cesium Iodide and Scheelite scintillating materials and connected to readout unit to measure the upcoming x-ray intensity from CT machine on a HyperTerminal Window. Characterization test protocols depict x-ray sensors coupled with Scheelite scintillation material provide more linearity and operating range for as compare to Cesium Iodide coupled one.

To abide by chain of custody proper crime scene reconstruction or image is acquired from the original source that can be admissible to the court. At present existence OTDR based techniques have become a standard practice for measuring chromatic dispersion distribution along an optical fiber transmission link. A constructive measurement technique has been offered in this paper, in which a four wavelength bidirectional optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) has been used to compute the chromatic dispersion allocation beside an optical fiber transmission system. To improve the correction factor a novel formulation has been developed, which leads to an enhanced and defined measurement. The investigational outcomes obtained are in good harmony.

In our present work, we have successfully designed, and developed an FPGA based smart wireless MIMO (Multiple Input & Multiple Output) system capable of controlling multiple industrial process parameters such as temperature, pressure, stress and vibration etc. To achieve this task we have used Xilin x Spartan 3E FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) instead of conventional microcontrollers. By employing FPGA kit to PC via RF transceivers which has a working range of about 100 meters. The developed smart system is capable of performing the control task assigned to it successfully. We have also provided a provision to our proposed system that can be accessed for monitoring and control through the web and GSM as well. Our proposed system can be equally applied to all the hazardous and rugged industrial environments where a conventional system cannot work effectively.

The idea behind this research was to detect the concentrations of iron and manganese in human biological fluid such as blood, by using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS) within 60 volunteers who were divided into 4 categories as, 15 welders, 15 flood victims, 15 fishermen and 15 dyers. Moreover, many surveys on metals analysis reported that the iron, zinc, sodium, potassium calcium, magnesium and manganese are most abundant elements for human biological system and they are greatly required to human body in sufficient amount for better growth and development of different organs. The amount of these metals can be varying in human body through intake of diet and different environmental factors. Even though, many metals are essential for human body but Iron and manganese, are most essential trace metals that are needed by human, for keeping their good physiology and different structures to grow. There might be a chance of iron and manganese deficiency and toxicity as their concentrations in human body increased from certain normal levels like 0.4-1.2mg/l and 0.9-1.1 mg/l for iron and manganese respectively. These deficiencies and toxicities of iron and manganese can cause some serious risks, related to human health and diseases as well [1]. Iron is needed for hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen and it is also needed for normal function of muscles and organs [7] while manganese ensure the healthy bone structure, bone metabolism and helping in essential enzymes for bones growth [11]. The results of iron and manganese determination in human blood, shown remarkable variation within 60 volunteers as per their related categories. This research is not only focused to measure the concentrations of iron and manganese in human blood, but also increasing the awareness among the people, working with no precautions in an unhealthy environment.

This study will summarize the importance of zinc and method for analyzing the zinc concentration in human body. Some metal like sodium, calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, copper & manganese are very important for human body to maintain different physiological processes normally. These metals also play an important role in the structures of proteins and enzyme activities. Zinc is one of the important metals, which have very remarkable impact on immune system of human body such as activities like cell reproduction and healing of wounds need the use of zinc, as it is also involved in reproductive system. It maintains the high sperm count in male and in female, it helps in fetal growth and abortion [1]. This study was carried out as, the detection of zinc concentration in human blood among 75 volunteers categorized as welders, dyers, carpenters, casters and flood victims (15 each), by using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS) technique which give the analytical results of zinc concentration.

In this paper, the proposed methodology calculates the distance between two nodes in Wireless Sensor Network for localization purpose. The methodology is a variant of Time of Arrival (TOA) methodology. The simulations are done in Matlab using Ultra wide band spectrum and Gaussian monocycle pulses. The measured distances are compared with set distances and mean square errors are calculated. Finally, the set distance and measured distances are compared for various transmission frequencies within UWB spectrum.

Advancement in computer system hardware makes it difficult to meet the demands of teaching computer architecture and organization. Visualization of different architectures enhances the learning process among students by using simulators. Rather making a comprehensive simulator that can cater the requirement for the course, freely available simulators can serve the purpose as they can save time resource, ease of use, capacity to learn the concepts to fullest, can be accessed anywhere and anytime by the students. Finding the appropriate simulator for the course is a difficult task. This paper discusses about the simulators that can be used for the course Computer Architecture and Organization which can help instructors in making students able to grasp the knowledge delivered in lectures.

Designing of surgical arm rest carrying smart materials is based upon a new and innovative idea of using novel smart material i.e. magnetorheological fluid (MR Fluid) in surgical arm rests. MR fluid was previously used in automotive industry for providing smooth movements to cars and is best known for its unique solidifying behavior on application of magnetic field. The fluid is practical, price effective and provides easy to use mechanism when applied to arm rest in the form of small solidifying pockets. The smart material based arm rest will provide great help to surgeons in long operations and surgeries which cause an extra amount of pressure on a surgeon's ulnar nerve, increases the numbness in arm, loss of sense and feeling in the performer's arm, reduced steadiness during a surgery, lack of stationary movements and failure of holding capabilities which is a key to any successful surgery. Usage of stainless steel makes the arm rest less corrosive, unsubstantial in weight and reusable. Easy clamping of the arm rest to the railing of operating table makes it portable and unobtrusive in the theatre. Usage of screws, pins and notches are avoided during the designing of arm rest, this is done to reduce the chances of equipment's failure giving it a long lasting and highly reusable approach. The surgical arm rest carrying magnetorheological fluid provides complete freedom of movements to the surgeon with solidification when required using a single button resulting in a safe, secure, cost effective and a steady hand smooth surgery.

The aim of the study was to determine the concentration of copper in serum of human blood by using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS). As far as the global environmental health issues are concerned, there are many factors that are directly or indirectly affect human health and society and the deficiency or toxicity of different metals in human blood is one of them. Some trace metals such as copper, zinc, iron and manganese are essential for maintaining good human health whereas, different heavy metals like mercury, molybdenum and lead can affect human health badly. Copper is one of the metals that have coordination with zinc and iron to maintain their absorption, storage, and metabolism, also strengthen skin and blood vessels [2]. The exposure of copper in environment is commonly due to welding, plumbing and such areas where copper fumes are mostly inhaled [1] that caused copper concentration increased in human blood which may leads to common diseases like anemia, liver damage, anxiety, allergies. In this study we analyzed the effects of copper on human health, by determining its concentration in human blood serum which was done on the flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS) that give the amount of copper present in serum as results. The 45 blood samples were collected from welders, plumbers and flood victims (15 each), so that we were able to know any related cause of disease or risk due to improper concentration of copper.
