pH level plays a vital role in the maintenance of human metabolic activity. pH levels of different bodily fluids i.e. blood, serum, urine etc are important parameters in diagnosing any condition, as unbalanced pH levels can interrupt all cellular activities and corrodes body tissues. In this paper a concept of implementing pH parameters in HL7v3 that is XML based is presented. The study includes a design of a temperature compensated digital pH meter interfaced through serial port with computer, XML schema is used to centralize the computerized data so as the patients and medical specialists around the world can access pH values of different bodily fluids through a unique identification (UID) code that assist them in diagnosing or treatment of a patient more effectively.

Semantic web comes out with the vision of making human readable information to be machine processable. Ontology, the core of semantic web, with concept instantiations serves as a domain knowledge base while semantic web query language provides retrieval of that information. In this paper, we presented a system that populates hotel related information in the ontology and a natural language querying platform to retrieve the information from a common interface for decision making. A simple user experiment shows that the system is time effective and helpful in making decisions with minimum queries as compared to browsing even with selected sites.

ZnO-Sn thin films were prepared and deposited on p-type silicon substrate using sol-gel method, followed by spin coating technique. The solution consists of zinc acetate dihydrate, tin chloride, 2-methoxyethanol and monoethanolamine which acted as a precursor, dopant, solvent and stabilizer respectively. Effect of different Sn/ZnO molar ratios on the crystallinity and surface morphology of thin films were studied in this research. The molar ratios of Sn/ZnO were maintained to 1%, 3% and 5%. The ZnO-Sn thin films were heated on hotplate at 300 °C for 20 min and then sintered at 500 °C for 2 hrs. The effect of different molar ratios of Sn/ZnO on the surface morphologies and crystalline structure properties of ZnO-Sn thin films were examined using atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD). XRD patterns showed that all doped films have (101) as the preferred orientation. The optical properties showed that the film with Sn/ZnO molar ratio of 3% having the optical transmittance of more than 80%, which was more than other doped films of our experiment. The FTER spectrum shows that at Sn/ZnO molar ratio of 5%, the intensity of ZnO peak is very weak and that may be due to the incorporation of Sn with the ZnO structure.

Three new algorithms based on minimization of autocorrelation of transmitted symbols and the SLM approach which are computationally less demanding have been proposed. In the first algorithm, autocorrelation of complex data sequence is minimized to a value of 1 that results in reduction of PAPR. Second algorithm generates multiple random sequences from the sequence generated in the first algorithm with same value of autocorrelation i.e. 1. Out of these, the sequence with minimum PAPR is transmitted. Third algorithm is an extension of the second algorithm and requires minimum side information to be transmitted. Multiple sequences are generated by modifying a fixed number of complex numbers in an OFDM data sequence using only one factor. The multiple sequences represent the same data sequence and the one giving minimum PAPR is transmitted. Simulation results for a 256 subcarrier OFDM system show that significant reduction in PAPR is achieved using the proposed algorithms.
