Broadcasting is one of the information dissemination primitives where a message is passed from one node (called originator) to all other nodes in the network. With the increasing interest in interconnection networks, an extensive amount of research was dedicated to broadcasting. Two main research goals of this area are finding inexpensive network structures that maintain efficient broadcasting and finding the broadcast time for well-known and widely used network *** the scope of this paper, we will mainly focus on determining the broadcast time and near-optimal broadcasting schemes in networks. Determination of the broadcast time of any node in an arbitrary network is known to be NP-hard. Polynomial time solutions are known only for a few network topologies. There also exist various heuristic and approximation algorithms for different network topologies. In this paper, we will present an efficient heuristic for the broadcast time problem in networks, where the nodes can be partitioned into two groups. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, HTTP Adaptive Streaming (HAS)-based technologies, such as Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH), have become the predominant video delivery paradigm over the Internet. HAS-based content providers frequently employ multiple Content Delivery Network (CDNs) to distribute their content to the end users. Recently, Apple and DASH-IF standardization introduced content steering technique to enable content providers to switch the content source that a player utilizes at start-up or midstream. Due to diverse adaptive video streaming demands for latency-sensitive and/or bandwidth-sensitive streams, satisfying end users with a pleasant Quality of Experience (QoE) poses a new challenge for redesigning the current content steering strategies. This paper leverages the recent popular Quick UDP Internet Connections (QUIC) transport protocol and introduces a CDN- and Protocol-aware content Steering solution for HTTP Adaptive Streaming (CP-Steering). We discuss the details of CP-Steering strategy and then give directions for future work. © 2023 Owner/Author(s).

Over the past 20 years, there has been a surge of diabetes cases in Iraq. Blood tests administered in the absence of professional medical judgment have allowed for the early detection of diabetes, which will fasten disease detection and lower medical costs. This work focuses on the use of a Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) neural network for diabetes classification in Iraq. Some medical tests and body features were used as classification features. The most relevant features were selected using the Binary Dragon Fly Algorithm (BDA) Binary version of the selection method because the features either selected or not. To reduce the number of features that are used in prediction,features without effects will be eliminated. This effects the classification accuracy, which is very important in both the computation time of the method and the cost of medical test that the individual will take during annual check *** work found out that among 11 features, only five features are most relevant to the disease. These features provide a classification accuracy up to 98% among three classes: diabetic, non diabetic and pre-diabetic. © 2023 the Author(s)

The epidemic growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) objects have revolutionized Maritime Transportation Systems (MTS). Though, it becomes challenging for the centralized cloud-centric framework to fulfil the application requirements such as low latency and power utilization. The introduction of the distributed edge-centric framework has recently helped the IoT-enabled MTS to meet these requirements by manipulating the tasks at the edge of the networks. Despite the fact that MTS leverages mobile subscribers by overcoming inherent cloud computing limitations, data security and user privacy requirements in establishing the MTS setup are still non-trivial challenges. In this article, we develop a key agreement solution for mobile users to realize mutual authentication in a single round. Our protocol offers user anonymity to maintain user privacy, and it can prevent physical attacks by physically unclonable functions. Initially, the security analysis is conferred to substantiate our protocol's security persistence or strength. Later, its performance correlation is observed under the assumption of diverse metrics in a predefined empirical setup. The meticulous performance correlation endorses the precedence of our protocol over specified related protocols. © 2000-2011 IEEE.

The aim of this work is to examine the application of FHE-SMPC as a viable security model for protecting the tenant isolation in multi-tenant cloud model. In multi-tenant environments, where various customers use the same cloud system, controlling the data leakage and protecting privacy is a major issue. Actual safeguards fail to meet the needs of data protection during processing, therefore, the introduction of highly elaborate encryption processes must happen. This research work focuses on the use of FHE technique and SMPC such that data can undergo processing while the plaintext remains unknown to any party. A kind of approach is based on the acquisition of synthetic and real data sets, system-level architecture, and cryptographic algorithms using open-source libraries with cloud service providers. The results of such implementation indicate that despite the fact that the FHE-SMPC system has a considerable computational overhead in comparison with classical schemes it is very secure and protected against different types of cryptographic attacks. The problem of scalability is still an open issue, but the complex is quite efficient with various data types that is why it can be used in various cloud applications. This paper offers a pertinent solution for security of data that is housed in multitenant environment and will go along way in creating fertile ground for research and innovation in secure clouding. © 2024 IEEE.

Estimation of wood moisture content (MC) is a fundamental aspect of woodworking, construction, and various other industries that rely on the versatile properties of wood. In this paper, we present mmMC, a novel system that estimates the MC of wood by a single commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) mmWave radar, which provides accurate end-to-end real-time wood moisture measurement results while being non-invasive, portable, and flexible in deployment. The proposed system uses a novel target reflection feature (TRF) to determine the reflectivity of the wood, thereby correlating it with specific MC levels. To robustly and accurately estimate the TRF of the wood from the mmWave signal, a signal processing pipeline is proposed. Specifically, an object detection and signal extraction module is designed to resolve the range of the object and eliminate multipath effects of the original signal. Then, a multiple chirps/antennas signals processing module is proposed to obtain a stable TRF from the extracted signals by using signals from different antennas and chirps. The TRF is associated with the MC of wood by a regression to enable real-time MC estimation. Through extensive real-world experiments, we have demonstrated that the proposed system has high accuracy and reliability. © 2024 IEEE.

In the scope of this paper, we will mainly focus on determining the broadcast time and near-optimal broadcasting schemes in networks. Determination of the broadcast time of a node x in arbitrary network G is known to be NP-hard. Polynomial-time solutions are known only for a few network topologies. There also exist various heuristic and approximation algorithms for different network topologies. In this paper, we will consider a large subset of chordal networks. Standard classification algorithms give biased results when data sets are imbalanced. Genetic Programming, a machine learning algorithm based on the evolution of species in nature, also suffers from the same issue. In this research work, we introduced a logarithmic distance-based multi-objective genetic programming (MOGP) approach for classifying imbalanced data. The proposed approach utilizes the logarithmic value of the distance between predicted and expected values. This logarithmic value for the minority and the majority classes is treated as two separate objectives while learning. In the final generation, the proposed approach generated a Pareto-front of classifiers with a balanced surface representing the majority and the minority class accuracies for binary classification. The primary advantage of the MOGP technique is that it can produce a set of good-performing classifiers in a single experimental execution. Against the MOGP approach, the canonical GP method requires multiple experimental runs and a priori objective-based fitness function. Another benefit of MOGP is that it explicitly includes the learning bias into the algorithms. For evaluation of the proposed approach, we performed extensive experimentation of five imbalanced problems. The proposed approach’s results have proven its superiority over the traditional method, where the minority and majority class accuracies are taken as two separate objectives. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
