The emerging behaviors of swarms have fascinated scientists and gathered significant interest in the field of robotics. Traditionally, swarms are viewed as egalitarian, with robots sharing identical roles and capabilities. However, recent findings highlight the importance of hierarchy for deploying robot swarms more effectively in diverse scenarios. Despite nature’s preference for hierarchies, the robotics field has clung to the egalitarian model, partly due to a lack of empirical evidence for the conditions favoring hierarchies. Our research demonstrates that while egalitarian swarms excel in environments proportionate to their collective sensing abilities, they struggle in larger or more complex settings. Hierarchical swarms, conversely, extend their sensing reach efficiently, proving successful in larger, more unstructured environments with fewer resources. We validated these concepts through simulations and physical robot experiments, using a complex radiation cleanup task. This study paves the way for developing adaptable, hierarchical swarm systems applicable in areas like planetary exploration and autonomous vehicles. this paper proposes a conceptual model for assessing user satisfaction in metaverse-based learning, a novel field that utilizes virtual reality technology to create an immersive and interactive learning experience. Despite the growing popularity of metaverse-based learning, there is a lack of research on how to evaluate user satisfaction in this type of learning environment. The proposed model includes four factors: Perceived Trialability, Perceived Observability, User Compatibility, and Perceived Complexity, each of which can be measured using statistical methods. The study aims to address the research gap in evaluating user satisfaction in metaverse-based learning and provides a model for educators and researchers to assess and improve user satisfaction in this innovative learning environment. The findings of this study contribute to the growing body of literature on metaverse-based learning and provide insights into the unique challenges associated with implementing this technology in educational settings. © 2023 IEEE.

Arithmetic operations and expression evaluations are fundamental in computing models. This paper firstly designs arithmetic membranes without priority rules for basic arithmetic operations, and then proposes an algorithm to construct expression P systems based on several of such membranes after designing synchronous and asynchronous transmission strategies among the membranes. For any arithmetic expression, an expression P system can be built to evaluate it effectively. Finally, we discuss different parallelism strategies through which different expression P systems can be built for an arithmetic expression.

Optimization problems widely arise in various science and engineering fields and can be computationally expensive in many real-world applications. Evaluation of the fitness function to assess a candidate solution is the main operation in all optimization procedures which can be heavily compute-intensive. Machine learning-based surrogate models can contribute to learning the specific pattern among the decision variables and objective values to consequently reduce the computation time of fitness evaluation. In this study, we have proposed a novel pairwise surrogate model to identify the superiority between candidate solutions in a pairwise comparison despite the fact that most of the surrogate models try to predict the exact fitness value. The proposed idea can significantly help the optimizer to reach better results in a shorter period of time. It seems comparing two candidate solutions for a greedy selection is much easier than approximating fitness values for both. We demonstrated Graph Neural Network (GNN) for this purpose to be trained on a limited number of pairwise ranks and then utilized to compare a pair of candidate solutions. In order to examine the efficacy of our model, we utilized different well-known single-objective optimization benchmarks in dimensions 10,20, and 30. Moreover, the results of the learning-based evaluation are compared with the results from the real fitness evaluation. The results, assessed in terms of the number of fitness calls and the best-found solution, showed that the proposed method is able to decrease the computing cost of fitness evaluation significantly while we achieve a comparable solution. Our model can be tested with any optimization algorithm which employs a comparison-based mechanism among its candidate solutions. © 2023 IEEE.

Nowadays, the demand for language learning is increasing because people need to communicate with other people belonging to different regions for their business deals, study, etc. During language learning, a lot of pronunciation mistakes occur due to unfamiliarity with a new language and differences in accent. In this paper, we perform speech mistakes analysis using deep feature-based clustering. We proposed two novel methods for speech analysis, one to deal with phonemic errors (confusing phonemes) and the other to deal with the prosodic errors (partially changed pronunciation variation of phones). For accurate and efficient language learning, it is important to learn both phonemic as well as prosodic error corrections. In our first method, we perform speech analysis by combining deep CNN features and clustering algorithm to detect the phonemic errors. We classify the phonemes using K-nearest neighbor, Naïve Bayes, and support vector machine (SVM). We perform experiments on the six most frequently mispronounced confusing pairs of Arabic to handle phonemic errors and achieve an accuracy of 94%. In our second method, we proposed the unsupervised phone variation model (PVM) to detect prosodic errors. In PVM, each phone is extended to represent the different types of pronunciation variation of that phone with different proficiency levels. We use an Arabic dataset of 28 individual phones for speech analysis and provide feedback based on the variation of each phone and achieves an accuracy of 97%. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

The paper discusses the integration and use of generative artificial intelligence technologies in education. Generative AI, such as OpenAI, in particular the GPT model, has fundamentally changed the way humans interact with machines. Advanced technologies in the field of generative AI in education are mostly used to personalize learning experiences by dynamically customizing learning materials according to the needs of learners, thus enabling the improvement of outcomes. This article explores the use of generative AI tools with the aim of assessing how useful students perceive these tools to be. The findings show mixed receptivity from users, highlighting the critical balance in using innovative AI capabilities through AI. © 2024 IEEE.

Recent trends in Network Function Virtualization (NFV) combined with Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G applications have reshaped the network service offering. In particular, Service Function Chains (SFCs) can associate network functions with physical and virtual resources towards providing a complete network service. Concurrently, the management of a continuously expanding network and the fulfillment of the applications' requirements pave the way for autonomic network solutions. Intent Based Networking (IBN) is a novel paradigm that aims to achieve the automatic orchestration of network services and the assurance of their performance. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a novel automated network assurance model, based on Model Predictive Control, to guarantee the Quality of Service (QoS) and security requirements of multi-tenant and IBN-enabled SFCs. In this context, corrective decisions are proactively taken, in the form of incoming intent relocations among the SFCs. The results reveal that our model can assure with high probability the application requirements and minimize QoS violations. © 2023 IEEE.

The process of selecting a leader to avoid instability in distributed system network after leader failure is called Leader Election Algorithm (LEA). This process becomes more complicated when it faces intermittent or complete links disconnected. the network becomes a one-way behavior if both lines of communication between two points are disrupted and thus the network becomes very slow, especially in systems where time is a critical issue, and the process of communication between points becomes much slower if the network leader is next to the fault or close to it, so the criteria will be established to ensures that the system leader in the Bidirectional ring communication network is in a place that allows next leader to communicate with all points as quickly as possible, and this will be during the election *** research presents a solution for leader failure problem in bidirectional ring network. This research takes into account the existence of intermittent or disconnection links between nodes. It will produce three algorithms to determine a new leader in the network with maximum network performance. It uses the least probability of time steps and the number of messages needed to elect the new leader in bidirectional ring network with N communicated nodes. so that the system remains able to work and communicate with its best capacity during this problem with the number of message complexity O(N) in the worst case. The third scenario minimizes the value of proper leader ID IDCurrent/IDCurrent-idStepCount', and maximizes the value of proper leader place N - (N - nStepCount). © 2024 IEEE.

Ensuring the user interface (UI) compatibility of web applications across diverse client-side configurations, including various operating systems and browsers, is a significant challenge due to the extensive range of possible combinations. Traditional tools often struggle to address this complexity, leading to visual inconsistencies and malfunctions. To improve compatibility testing, we propose a meta-model that initiates the process with a checklist covering critical configurations across different browsers. This checklist is then translated into Interaction Flow Modeling Language (IFML) constructs, enabling a model-driven approach to compatibility assessment. By leveraging this checklist-IFML integration, we systematically generate test cases that target compatibility issues more effectively. Our approach is validated through the Laptop-Web Case Study, where we assess compatibility by comparing checklist items with IFML constructs within the case study’s domain model. The results show that our approach enhances the accuracy and efficiency of compatibility testing, addressing a core gap in current methods. This research introduces a structured, model-driven method for compatibility testing, providing a more reliable framework for identifying and mitigating UI compatibility issues in web applications across varying client-side configurations.

In recent years,the telecommunications sector is no longer limited to traditional communications,but has become the backbone for the use of data,content and digital applications by individuals,governments and companies to ensure the continuation of economic and social activity in light of social distancing and total closure inmost countries in the ***,electronic government(e-Government)andmobile government(m-Government)are the results of technological evolution and ***,it is important to investigate the factors that influence the intention to use m-Government services among Jordan’s *** paper proposed a new m-Government acceptance model in Jordan(AMGS);this model combines the Information System(IS)Success Factor Model and Hofstede Cultural Dimensions *** study was conducted by surveying different groups of the Jordanian *** questionnaire was used to collect data from203 *** regression analysis has been conducted to analyze the *** results indicate that the significant predictors of citizen intention to use m-Government services in Jordan are Information Quality,Service Quality,Uncertainty Avoidance,and Indulgence ***,the results also suggest that Power Distance is not a significant predictor of citizen intention to use m-Government services.
