With the rising competition among pharmaceutical companies, the current drug supply chain market has become more competitive with high-quality product segments. The rapid growth of internet pharmacies has made it more difficult to standardize drug safety throughout in complex distributed supply chain networks. There is a high chance of introducing counterfeit drugs which are almost the same as the original pharmaceuticals. Due to the lack of transparency the possibility of tampering with drugs in the current manual and web-based pharmaceutical systems is extremely high. Throughout the past recent years, these counterfeit drugs were recognized as the one of major worldwide problems. This situation is worse in developing countries. The unavailability of verifying the legitimacy of drug suppliers and poor mechanisms to trace the drugs were identified as critical points that need to be resolved. SUPPLYDECK comes as a solution for the critical scenario mentioned. This solution addresses the above problems using blockchain technology, as a distributed digital ledger that ensures transparency, traceability, and security. This can show promise for solving some global supply chain management problems using smart contracts and user authentication along with IoT technology and machine learning concepts that are critically examined with this potential application. © 2022 IEEE.

HOTFUZ: Cost-effective higher-order mutation-based fault localization

Fault localization techniques are used to deduce the exact source of a failure from a set of failure indications while debugging software and play a crucial role in improving software quality. Mutation-based fault localization (MBFL) techniques are proposed to localize faults at a finer granularity and with higher accuracy than traditional fault localization techniques. Despite the technique's effectiveness, the immense cost of mutation analysis hinders MBFL's practical application in the industry. Various mutation alternative strategies are utilized to lower the cost of MBFL, but they sacrifice the accuracy of localization results. Higher-order mutation testing was proposed to search for valuable mutants that drive testing harder and reduce the overall test effort. However, higher-order mutants (HOMs) never have been used to address the cost problem of MBFL to the extent of our knowledge. This paper proposes a novel, cost-effective MBFL technique called HOTFUZ, Higher-Order muTation-based FaUlt localiZation, that employs HOMs to reduce the cost while minimizing the accuracy degradation. HOTFUZ combines mutants of a program under test into HOMs to decrease the number of mutants by more than half, depending on the order of HOMs. An experimental study is conducted using 65 real-world faults of CoREBench to assess the proposed approach's cost-effectiveness. The experimental results show that HOTFUZ outperforms the extant mutation alternative strategies by localizing faults more accurately using the same number of mutants executed. HOTFUZ has three main benefits over existing mutant reduction techniques for MBFL: (a) It keeps the advantage of using the whole set of mutation operators;(b) it does not discard generated mutants randomly for the sake of efficiency;and, finally, (c) it significantly decreases the proportion of equivalent mutants. © 2021 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

A drug recommendation system based on response prediction: Integrating gene expression and K-mer fragmentation of drug SMILES using LightGBM

Medical experts and physicians examine the gene expression abnormality in glioblastoma (GBM) cancer patients to identify the drug response. The main objective of this research is to build a machine learning (ML) based model for improve the outcome of cancer medication to save the time and effort of medical practitioners. Developing a drug response recommendation system is our goal that uses the gene expression data of cancer cell lines to predict the response of anticancer drugs in terms of half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50). Genetic data from a GBM cancer patient is used as input into a system to predict and recommend the response of multiple anticancer drugs in a particular cancer sample. In this research, we used K-mer molecular fragmentation to process drug SMILES in a novel way, which enabled us to build a competent model that provides drug response. We used the Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM) regression algorithm and Genomics of Drug Sensitivity of Cancer (GDSC) data for this proposed recommendation system. The results showed that all predicted IC50 values are fall within the range of the real values when examining GBM data. Two drugs, temozolomide and carmustine, were predicted with a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.10 and 0.11 respectively, and 0.41 in unseen test samples. These recommended responses were then verified by expert doctors, who confirmed that the responses to these drugs were very close to the actual response. These recommendation are also effective in slowing the growth of these tumors and improving patients quality of life by monitoring medication effects. © 2025 The Authors

As a developing country, Sri Lanka needs to go along with cutting-edge technologies. In the beginning phase of this digital advertising, multiple advertisements were displayed on the users' feeds, including advertisements despite their preferences. This was a terrible user experience for the users. However, smart advertising based on customer preferences can manage the flow of advertisements on the feed as per the users' preferences. This same technique can be used in handling advertisements while shopping at supermarkets. These advertisements can be directed based on demographic characteristics like face and gender and previous customer transactions. Additionally, providing the nearest supermarket they can reach based on their current location. Queue management is the next most crucial facility that needs to be provided to a supermarket. However, the manual system of queue management is not effective. But with a modernized queue management system, overcrowded supermarkets can be managed effectively. This proposed system also considers providing a chatbot service to manage customer inquiries in a reliable strategy. In this system, we mainly used the Keras model called VGGFace for face detection, the Conventional Neural Network and Keras-based model for gender detection, the TensorFlow model called Single Shot MultiBox Detection MobileNet for queue and crowd detection, the Apriori algorithm base model for predicting the buying pattern, a Keras-based model for Artificial Intelligence chatbot and finally, google map Application Programming Interface for the nearest supermarket finding are models and technology. This system was developed to manage a supermarket properly. © 2022 IEEE.

Exponential growth in the use of cloud computing services makes it difficult to forecast loads of virtual machines (VMs). Accurate virtual machine (VM) workload forecasting is the most critical task in appropriately managing cloud resources such as memory and central processing units while minimizing energy usage. To address this problem, an integrated deep learning model is proposed in this research paper. The model employs two popular neural networks: a bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory Network (BiLSTM) with a convolutional neural networks (CNN). The CNN component pulls high-level attributes from all VM workload data, whereas the BiLSTM component forecasts future VM workload. The experimental results reveal that the suggested model outperforms commonly used workload prediction methods in terms of forecasting accuracy of VMs workloads in cloud computing environments. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Brain damage resulting from stroke and traumatic brain injury is the primary cause of complicated disability and one of the major causes of mortality in most countries, burdening healthcare systems owing to the growth in the number of brain injury victims. Rehabilitation is required to deal with the brain damage. With fewer therapists available, it is very challenging to manage patients and even motivate them to participate actively in their rehabilitation. Patients have frequently complained that many traditional rehabilitation systems are monotonous and uninteresting. The study's objective is to propose a telerehabilitation gaming system framework that can serve as guidance for developing an affordable rehabilitation gaming system that can motivate and engage patients and increase rehabilitation effectiveness. The research methodology is based on synthesizing related research and currently available technologies. The proposed framework includes the therapist and patient attached with vital constructs: tailoring tools, instructional content, game characteristics, tailored games, and performance. It is an internet-based communication structure that connects the Rehabilitation Gaming System to the hospital and other care provider networks. The proposed framework is evaluated by a panel of five experts. The results reveal that all experts believe that the proposed framework can serve as a useful guide for creating gaming interventions that can boost the patient's motivation and engagement and increase the effectiveness of rehabilitation. © 2023 IEEE.

Generating a large volume of diverse questions for educational purposes can be a challenging and time-consuming task for educators. Traditional methods like manually writing questions or using templates often fall short when it comes to variety and relevance. In order to cope with these di ffi culties, we have examined a di ff erent approach adopting Retrieval-Augmented Generation ( RAG). RAG is an enhancement technique that allows retrieving independent documents and combines it with artificial intelligence that is able to qualitatively generate contextually adequate questions. In this research, RAG was employed through the Ample LMS platform in which PDF documents were the source of generating MCQ questions. The results of the research indicate that with this method, the process of formulating the questions is relatively faster and the questions generated are of better and diverse in nature. With RAG, the burden of constructing questions is lessened for teachers and the students are provided with better interactive learning opportunities. This approach presents a better alternative that is flexible and suitable for various educational requirements, demonstrating the e ff ectiveness of AI in the improvement of the learning and teaching processes.

In Fashion, Recommender System represents a growing trend. They enable to offer the customer online fully personalized shopping experience. Many known names on the Fashion market such as Asos (***) or Zalando (***), have already bet on this technology to retain customers, boosting profits. Multiple filtering approaches exist, developed to cope with all the inherent challenges driven by the lack of information and the ephemeral nature of fashion items. However, even if the methods adopted are very varied, the main motive remains the same: reducing the margin of error at all costs to produce the nearest reality prediction. Accuracy, scalability, flexibility, and performance have become the keywords when creating a fully skilled Recommender System. To achieve these objectives, it appears that including in the model user's context information, such as time, location, mood, occasion, weather, or people's influence can be the answer. Not including contextual information is eluding a fundamental element in the decision-making process for the purchase of a particular piece of clothing. In this paper, we decided to apply to the Fashion domain issues the scalable context-aware algorithm to target the customer's tastes better, producing predictions as close to his preferences as possible. This new algorithm named KFCR uses the kernel mapping framework developed by (KMR) to complement context information. We evaluated and compared this new system to the Basic KMR, as well as to other widely used context-aware approaches like preand post-filtering techniques. Once evaluated, the KFCR was more accurate than both non-context-aware and context-aware approaches.
