Learning behavior in legged robots presents a significant challenge due to its inherent instability and complex constraints. Recent research has proposed the use of a large language model (LLM) to generate reward functions in reinforcement learning, thereby replacing the need for manually designed rewards by experts. However, this approach, which relies on textual descriptions to define learning objectives, fails to achieve controllable and precise behavior learning with clear directionality. In this paper, we introduce a new video2reward method, which directly generates reward functions from videos depicting the behaviors to be mimicked and learned. Specifically, we first process videos containing the target behaviors, converting the motion information of individuals in the videos into keypoint trajectories represented as coordinates through a video2text transforming module. These trajectories are then fed into an LLM to generate the reward function, which in turn is used to train the policy. To enhance the quality of the reward function, we develop a video-assisted iterative reward refinement scheme that visually assesses the learned behaviors and provides textual feedback to the LLM. This feedback guides the LLM to continually refine the reward function, ultimately facilitating more efficient behavior learning. Experimental results on tasks involving bipedal and quadrupedal robot motion control demonstrate that our method surpasses the performance of state-of-the-art LLM-based reward generation methods by over 37.6% in terms of human normalized score. More importantly, by switching video inputs, we find our method can rapidly learn diverse motion behaviors such as walking and running. © 2024 The Authors.

Vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs)provide intelligent navigation and efficient route management,resulting in time savings and cost reductions in the transportation ***,the exchange of beacons and messages over public channels among vehicles and roadside units renders these networks vulnerable to numerous attacks and privacy *** address these challenges,several privacy and security preservation protocols based on blockchain and public key cryptography have been proposed ***,most of these schemes are limited by a long execution time and massive communication costs,which make them inefficient for on-board units(OBUs).Additionally,some of them are still susceptible to many *** such,this study presents a novel protocol based on the fusion of elliptic curve cryptography(ECC)and bilinear pairing(BP)*** formal security analysis is accomplished using the Burrows–Abadi–Needham(BAN)logic,demonstrating that our scheme is verifiably *** proposed scheme’s informal security assessment also shows that it provides salient security features,such as non-repudiation,anonymity,and ***,the scheme is shown to be resilient against attacks,such as packet replays,forgeries,message falsifications,and *** the performance perspective,this protocol yields a 37.88%reduction in communication overheads and a 44.44%improvement in the supported security ***,the proposed scheme can be deployed in VANETs to provide robust security at low overheads.

Evolution of Web API Cooperation Network via Exploring Community Structure and Popularity

With the growing popularity of the Internet, Web applications have become increasingly essential in our daily lives. Web application programming interfaces (Web APIs) play a crucial role in facilitating interaction between applications. However, most Web service platforms are suffering from the imbalance of Web services now, many services of good quality but low popularity are difficult to be invoked even once and do not create direct connections with the users. Some graph-based Web service recommendation methods also often present a long-tailed distribution of recommended Web services due to limited Mashup-API invocation relationships. To relieve this problem and promote service recommendation, in this article, we propose a community structure and popularity-based approach by constructing an evolving cooperation network for Web APIs. We leverage the Louvain algorithm in community detection to assign community structure to each Web API and consider both the popularity and community structure in constructing the network. By optimizing the Barabαsi-Albert (BA) evolving network model, we demonstrate that our approach outperforms the BA, Bianconi-Barabαsi (BB), and popularity-similarity optimization (PSO) models in Web service clustering. Based on our proposed evolutionary network model for the evolutionary extension of API cooperation network and used for downstream Web service recommendation tasks, the experimental results also show that our recommended approach outperforms some other baseline models for Web service recommendation. © 2020 IEEE.

This study explores the impact of the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) on predictive accuracy in student performance prediction using both linear (Logistic Regression, LR) and ensemble (Random Forest, RF) models. We compare the performance of these models, using a real-time dataset from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). While previous studies have examined these models separately, this research uniquely investigates the simultaneous application of SMOTE to both. Our results show that LR’s accuracy improves from 91% to 95% with SMOTE, while RF maintains a consistent 98% accuracy. These findings demonstrate that SMOTE significantly enhances the performance of linear models in handling imbalanced data, providing useful insights for curriculum development in higher education. This research contributes to the literature by guiding higher education institutions in selecting the most effective predictive models.

In Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks(WMSNs),nodes capable of retrieving video,audio,images,and small scale sensor data,tend to generate immense traffic of various *** energy-efficient transmission of such a vast amount of heterogeneous multimedia content while simultaneously ensuring the quality of service and optimal energy consumption is ***,we propose a Power-Efficient Wireless Multimedia of Things(PE-WMoT),a robust and energy-efficient cluster-based mechanism to improve the overall lifetime of *** a PE-WMoT,nodes declare themselves Cluster Heads(CHs)based on available *** cluster formation and CH declaration processes are completed,the Sub-Cluster(SC)formation process triggers,in which application base nodes within close vicinity of each other organize themselves under the administration of a Sub-Cluster Head(SCH).The SCH gathers data from member nodes,removes redundancies,and forwards miniaturized data to its respective ***-WMoT adopts a fuzzy-based technique named the analytical hierarchical process,which enables CHs to select an optimal SCH among available SCs.A PE-WMoT also devises a robust scheduling mechanism between CH,SCH,and child nodes to enable collision-free data *** results revealed that a PE-WMoT significantly reduces the number of redundant packet transmissions,improves energy consumption of the network,and effectively increases network throughput.

Learning-Aided Evolutionary Search and Selection for Scaling-up Constrained Multiobjective Optimization

The existing constrained multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (CMOEAs) still have great room for improvement in balancing populations convergence, diversity and feasibility on complex constrained multiobjective optimization problems (CMOPs). Besides, their effectiveness deteriorates dramatically when facing the CMOPs with scaling-up objective space or search space. We are thus motivated to design a learning-aided CMOEA with promising problem-solving ability and scalability for various CMOPs. In the proposed solver, two learning models are respectively trained online on constrained-ignored task and feasibility-first task, which are then used to learn the two improvement-based vectors for enhancing the search by differential evolution. In addition, the union population of parent and child solutions is divided into multiple subsets with a hierarchical clustering based on cosine similarity. A comprehensive indicator, considering objective-based performance and constraint violation degree of a solution, is developed to select the representative solution from each cluster. The effectiveness of the proposed optimizer is verified by solving the CMOPs with various irregular Pareto fronts, the number of objectives ranging from 2 to 15, and the dimensionality of search space scaling up to 1000. The software engineering field has long focused on creating high-quality software despite limited *** defects before the testing stage of software development can enable quality assurance engineers to con-centrate on problematic modules rather than all the *** approach can enhance the quality of the final product while lowering development *** defective modules early on can allow for early corrections and ensure the timely delivery of a high-quality product that satisfies customers and instills greater confidence in the development *** process is known as software defect prediction,and it can improve end-product quality while reducing the cost of testing and *** study proposes a software defect prediction system that utilizes data fusion,feature selection,and ensemble machine learning fusion techniques.A novel filter-based metric selection technique is proposed in the framework to select the optimum features.A three-step nested approach is presented for predicting defective modules to achieve high *** the first step,three supervised machine learning techniques,including Decision Tree,Support Vector Machines,and Naïve Bayes,are used to detect faulty *** second step involves integrating the predictive accuracy of these classification techniques through three ensemble machine-learning methods:Bagging,Voting,and ***,in the third step,a fuzzy logic technique is employed to integrate the predictive accuracy of the ensemble machine learning *** experiments are performed on a fused software defect dataset to ensure that the developed fused ensemble model can perform effectively on diverse *** NASA datasets are integrated to create the fused dataset:MW1,PC1,PC3,PC4,and *** to the results,the proposed system exhibited superior performance to other advanced techniques for predicting software defects,achieving a remarkable accuracy rate of 92.08%.

Nowadays, people developed various convolutional neural network (CNN) based models for computer vision. Some famous models, such as GoogLeNet, Residual Network (ResNet), Visual Geometry Group (VGG), and You Only Look Once (YOLO), have different architecture and performances. Determining which model to use may be a troublesome problem for those just starting to study image classification. To solve this problem, we introduce the GoogLeNet, ResNet-18, and VGG-16 models, comparing their architecture, features, and performance. Then we give our suggestions based on the test results to help beginners choose a suitable model. We conducted experiments to train and test GoogLeNet, ResNet-18, and VGG-16 on the Cifar-100 datasets with the same hyperparameters. Based on the test results (test accuracy, average test loss, training loss), we analyze the figures for trends, key points, increase rate, and other features. Then we combine the architecture of each model to make our conclusions. The experimental results show that ResNet-18 can be a good choice when training the model with the Cifar-100 datasets because it performs well after training and has a low time complexity. ResNet-18 also has the fastest convergence speed. GoogLeNet would be the second choice because it functions similarly to ResNet-18 and is even better. However, training GoogLeNet is a time-consuming task. VGG is not recommended in this experiment because it has the worst performance and similar training complexity compared with ResNet-18. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Scrum is one of the most prominent agile development frameworks as it delivers the project in many sprints in an incremental manner. Sprint delivery capability is a crucial concept in the scrum projects as it assesses whether sprint can capable of delivering its issues on its length. It is difficult to consider forecasting sprint delivery capability in large scrum projects as multiple sprints are processed simultaneously and agile dynamics. Machine Learning (ML) models were applied in the existing studies to forecast sprint delivery but, had limitations in finding non-linear and hidden patterns. To address these problems, this research exploited the untapped ensemble learning approach to bridge the gap to improve the prediction of sprint delivery capability in different project progression levels. The study gathered the data from one of the large open-source scrum projects, JIRA which included 1873 iterations and 10853 issues in table format spanning at 30%, 50%, and 80% project progression levels. Data preprocessing enabled to refinement of the data for analysis. The author enhanced the feature aggregation by using both statistical and automatic feature learning to derive the new features from the issue table and combine them with the iteration table. The key features affecting sprint delivery capability were identified using hybrid feature selection approach. The study developed the untapped ensemble models by choosing the different combinations of ML, Deep Learning (DL), and ensemble algorithms using appropriate ensemble methods and combination rules. The author examined the models and concluded that Categorical Boost (CatBoost) gained the highest accuracy of 96.8% at the 80% project progression level. This prediction assists in improving sprint planning, delivering the software on time, and getting more insights about sprint performance.

Artificial intelligence(AI)and machine learning(ML)help in making predictions and businesses to make key decisions that are beneficial for *** the case of the online shopping business,it’s very important to find trends in the data and get knowledge of features that helps drive the success of the *** this research,a dataset of 12,330 records of customers has been analyzedwho visited an online shoppingwebsite over a period of one *** main objective of this research is to find features that are relevant in terms of correctly predicting the purchasing decisions made by visiting customers and build ML models which could make correct predictions on unseen data in the *** permutation feature importance approach has been used to get the importance of features according to the output variable(Revenue).Five ML models i.e.,decision tree(DT),random forest(RF),extra tree(ET)classifier,Neural networks(NN),and Logistic regression(LR)have been used to make predictions on the unseen data in the *** performance of each model has been discussed in detail using performance measurement techniques such as accuracy score,precision,recall,F1 score,and ROC-AUC *** model is the bestmodel among all five chosen based on accuracy score of 90%and F1 score of 79%followed by extra tree ***,our study indicates that RF model can be used by online retailing businesses for predicting consumer buying *** research also reveals the importance of page value as a key feature for capturing online purchasing *** may give a clue to future businesses who can focus on this specific feature and can find key factors behind page value success which in turn will help the online shopping business.
