Accurately synthesizing talking face videos and capturing fine facial features for individuals with long hair presents a significant challenge. To tackle these challenges in existing methods, we propose a decomposed per-embedding Gaussian fields (DEGSTalk), a 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS)-based talking face synthesis method for generating realistic talking faces with long hairs. Our DEGSTalk employs Deformable Pre-Embedding Gaussian Fields, which dynamically adjust pre-embedding Gaussian primitives using implicit expression coefficients. This enables precise capture of dynamic facial regions and subtle expressions. Additionally, we propose a Dynamic Hair-Preserving Portrait Rendering technique to enhance the realism of long hair motions in the synthesized videos. Results show that DEGSTalk achieves improved realism and synthesis quality compared to existing approaches, particularly in handling complex facial dynamics and hair preservation. Edge computing service deployment and task offloading based on multi-task high-dimensional multi-objective optimization

The Mobile Edge computing (MEC) system located close to the client allows mobile smart devices to offload their computations onto edge servers, enabling them to benefit from low-latency computing services. Both cloud service providers and users seek more comprehensive solutions, necessitating judicious decisions in service deployment and task offloading while balancing multiple objectives. This study investigates service deployment and task offloading challenges in a multi-user environment, framing them as a multi-task high-dimensional multi-objective optimization (MT-HD-MOO) problem within an edge environment. To ensure stable service provisioning, beyond considering latency, energy consumption, and cost as deployment objectives, network reliability is also incorporated. Furthermore, to promote equitable usage of edge servers, load balancing is introduced as a fourth task offloading objective, in addition to latency, energy consumption, and cost. Additionally, this paper designs a MT-HD-MOO algorithm based on a multi-selection strategy to address this model and its solution. By employing diverse selection strategies, an environment selection strategy pool is established to enhance population diversity within the high-dimensional objective space. The study comprehensively analysed public sentiment towards ChatGPT, a language processing AI tool, using approximately 135,000 tweets from an initial dataset of 236,275 entries. After cleaning and pre-processing the data using basic NLP techniques, Machine Learning (ML) models—Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Decision Tree (DT), and Support Vector Machine (SVM)—were applied to classify the tweets into positive, negative, and neutral categories. The LSTM model demonstrated superior performance across all evaluation metrics—accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score—for all tweet categories. Word clouds generated for each category revealed that the most frequent words in positive tweets included ‘student,’ 'education,’ 'research,’ and ‘teacher,’ indicating a strong association of ChatGPT with educational and research contexts. Similarly, ‘AI,’ ‘student,’ 'research,’ ‘course,’ and ‘education’ dominated neutral and negative tweets, highlighting prevalent discussion topics. However, the study had limitations, including dependency on a single dataset, potential loss of contextual information during pre-processing, and a focus on English tweets only. Despite these limitations, the study provides valuable insights into the public’s perception of ChatGPT, underscoring its significant association with education and research and the effectiveness of the LSTM model in classifying tweets. The findings suggest that future research should incorporate diverse data sources and languages better to understand global sentiment towards ChatGPT and similar AI tools.

In modern era where software development is of vital importance, software developers are challenged with conditions like Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) which hinders their ability to work effectively. Furthermore, people with difficulties with using their hands also find it challenging to program in the traditional manner. As a solution, coding with one’s voice has been experimented with, but current solutions lack interactivity and are harder to use and setup leaving much room for improvement in this domain. In this research work, by using input classifier models with accuracies over 90%, intent classifiers with accuracies over 70%, code parsing and various human computer interaction techniques, we developed a conversationally interactive, programming language agnostic, easy to setup and easy to use Voice Coding Assistant. This will potentially help a global audience of programmers to achieve their goals and improve productivity and lead a healthier life. We have named the system thus developed, “Venic”.

In today's world, industries are looking to improve their productivity through effective logistics and supply chain management. The efficiency of the supply chain in dealing with the huge volumes of data plays a key role in the overall performance of businesses. Supply Chain Finance (SCF) aims to improve the robustness and efficiency of companies' supply lines. However, SCF suffers from problems like fraudulent transactions, information inconsistencies, and delays in financial transfers. Decentralized finance (Defi) is a new blockchain paradigm that tackles traditional finance problems. This paper proposes a Defi-based model on a hybrid private-public blockchain for SCF. Our model improves the efficiency of SCF by eliminating costs of using centralized financial institutions, reducing overload costs due to better estimation of the required amount of products, and also decreasing supply delays for the requested products. We also evaluated our model using the SWOT technique for adopting it in the supply chain. © 2021 ACM.

The great majority of manual processes have been automated in the current day. Nonetheless, there is no reliable approach for evaluating UML diagrams for plagiarism and correctness. Unified Modeling Language (UML) provides the basis for UML diagrams. UML Diagrams are typically used to graphically express a system’s stakeholders, activities, objects, and classes to get a deep knowledge of a particular system. UML diagrams are widely used by industry experts as well as beginners. Class diagrams and use case diagrams are the most commonly used diagrams in UML. Though most Computer science-related students get assessed in UML modelling, diagram plagiarism isn’t considered in most exams since it’s a tedious task to perform. The proposed system automates capturing details in UML diagram components and generating a model answer from the given question scenario to compare the diagrams and calculate the plagiarism percentage with the correction percentage.

With the continuous development of IoT, a number of sensors establish on the roadside to monitor traffic conditions in real time. The continuously traffic data generated by these sensors makes traffic management feasible. However, loss of data may occur due to inevitable sensor failure, impeding traffic managers to understand traffic dynamics clearly. In this situation, it is becoming a necessity to predict missing traffic flow accurately for effective traffic management. Furthermore, the traffic sensor data are often distributed and stored by different agencies, which inhibits the multi-party sensor data sharing significantly due to privacy concerns. Therefore, it has become a major obstacle to balance the tradeoff between data sharing and vehicle privacy. In light of these challenges, we propose a privacy-aware and accurate missing traffic flow prediction approach based on time-aware Locality-Sensitive Hashing technique. At last, we deploy a set of experiments based on a real traffic dataset. Experimental reports demonstrate the feasibility of our proposal in terms of traffic flow prediction accuracy and efficiency while guaranteeing sensor data privacy. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Blockchain technology has piqued the interest of businesses of all types, while consistently improving and adapting to business requirements. Several blockchain platforms have emerged, making it challenging to select a suitable one for a specific type of business. This paper presents a classification of over one hundred blockchain platforms. We develop smart contracts for detecting healthcare insurance frauds using the top two blockchain platforms selected based on our proposed decision-making map approach which selects the top suitable platforms for healthcare insurance frauds detection application. Our classification shows that the largest percentage of platforms can be used for all types of application domains, the second biggest percentage for financial services, and a small number is to develop applications in specific domains. Our decision-making map and performance evaluations reveal that Hyperledger Fabric surpassed Neo in all metrics for detecting healthcare insurance frauds.

As a special type of Knowledge Graph (KG), Continual Knowledge Graph Learning (CKGL) plays a pivotal role in various areas such as recommendation systems, search engines, and personalized services, where knowledge dynamically evolves. A challenging problem in CKGL is catastrophic forgetting, where models forget previously learned knowledge upon being trained on new data. To overcome the challenge, this study proposes Flexible Memory Rotation (FMR), a dual-level regularization technique that focuses on both parameter level and structural level. Our idea is inspired by the natural human learning process, which tends to memorize correctly learned knowledge, leverage the learned to acquire new knowledge, and refine incorrectly learned knowledge with newly obtained information. Commonly, existing regularization-based methods fail to mimic this human nature by having a fixed constraint strategy for all model parameters. To this end, the proposed FMR offers flexible constraints based on qualities of learned knowledge evaluated by the Fisher Information Matrix (FIM). Additionally, we identified a limitation of FIM in CKGL, which is the assumption of independence of time steps does not always hold. To overcome this, FMR rotates the parameter space to diagonalize the FIM. This work has four major contributions: 1) develop a novel regularization technique, FMR, a flexible regularization technique, 2) reveal the unexpected failure of FIM in CKGL and provides an easy remedy via parameter space rotation, 3) the comparison experiments on four benchmark datasets designed for CKGL demonstrates improvement over various state-of-the-art (SOTA) CKGL models, and 4) a comprehensive ablation study investigates each component of the proposed model.
