Hyperspectral Image (HSI) cross-scene classification is a challenging task in remote sensing, particularly when real-time processing of Target Domain (TD) HSI is required, and data cannot be reused for training. While deep learning methods have shown promising results, the generalization ability of HSI representations remains limited, mainly due to class label imbalance. This paper introduces a dual-stage learning framework based on transfer learning to enhance classification accuracy in the TD. The framework includes a self-supervised learning stage and a supervised fine-tuning stage. The self-supervised stage focuses on learning robust representations by leveraging inherent structures within HSI data, while the fine-tuning stage uses training labels to extract semantic information. A masked diffusion model predicts masked tokens from unmasked ones, capturing both high-level structures and fine details in HSI data. An efficient spatiospectral Transformer, which removes self-attention from the decoder, is proposed to enhance the self-supervised process. This design allows mask tokens to obtain information from visible tokens without interacting with each other, reducing sequence length and computational costs. By decoding each mask token conditionally independently, only a subset of masked tokens is processed. Extensive experiments on two public HSI datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art techniques.

Adverse drug reactions (ADR) have become a common and serious problem faced by drug users worldwide, posing a significant threat to human life and health safety. How to achieve automatic evaluation of the quality of ADR reports, and how to mine and evaluate the relevance between drugs and adverse drug reactions, has become an urgent problem that needs to be solved at present. In this study, a text classification technology based on deep learning were employed to establish an automated system to evaluate the information quality and relevance of ADR reports, using ADR reports from cooperative medical institutions and case studies in the literature as samples. The ERNIE+DCGNN model was used to train the ADR relevance evaluation model, and its effects were compared with other mainstream models. Comparative experimental results demonstrated that the ADR relevance evaluation model constructed in this paper had better experimental results.

Out-of-distribution (OOD) detection is vital for the safe application of intelligent systems in real-world scenarios. This paper proposes an enhancement to OOD detection by leveraging the consistency in cognition between two models, both pretrained on in-distribution (ID) data. Specifically, for a given test sample, we first apply Principal Component Analysis (PCA)-based projection on the feature vectors from each model. These obtained feature vectors (with correlation between dimensions decoupled by PCA projection) are then aligned using a multiple linear mapping, which is fitted using the least squares method on the training data. We hypothesize that the regression error for OOD data will be larger than that for ID data, making it a useful metric for OOD detection. Our experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method. When combined with existing robust baselines, our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance in OOD detection.

Colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) as a novel 2D biomedical image modality based on visible light provides a higher perspective of the potential gastrointestinal lesions like polyps within the small and large intestines than the conventional colonoscopy. As the quality of images acquired via CCE imagery is low, so the artificial intelligence methods are proposed to help detect and localize polyps within an acceptable level of efficiency and performance. In this paper, a new deep neural network architecture known as AID-U-Net is proposed. AID-U-Net consists of two distinct types of paths: a) Two main contracting/expansive paths, and b) Two sub-contracting/expansive paths. The playing role of the main paths is to localize polyps as the target objectives in high resolution and multi-scale manner, while the two sub paths are responsible for preserving and conveying the information of low resolution and low-scale target objects. Furthermore, the proposed network architecture provides simplicity so that the model can be deployed for real time processing. AID-U-Net with an implementation of a VGG19 backbone shows better performance to detect polyps in CCE images in comparison with the other state-of-the-art U-Net models like conventional U-Net, U-Net++, and U-Net3+ with different pre-trained backbones like ImageNet, VGG19, ResNeXt50, Resnet50, InceptionV3 and InceptionResNetV2.

Deep learning-based Autonomous Driving (AD) semantic segmentation (SSeg) models often exhibit poor generalization due to data heterogeneity in an ever domain-shifting environment. While Federated Learning (FL) could improve the generalization of an AD SSeg model (known as FedAD system), conventional models often struggle with under-fitting as the amount of accumulated training data progressively increases. To address this issue, instead of conventional small models, employing Large Vision Models (LVMs) in FedAD is a viable option for better learning of representations from a vast volume of data. However, implementing LVMs in FedAD introduces three challenges: (I) the extremely high communication overheads associated with transmitting LVMs between participating vehicles and a central server;(II) lack of computing resource to deploy LVMs on each vehicle;(III) the performance drop due to LVM focusing on shared features but overlooking local vehicle characteristics. To overcome these challenges, we propose pFedLVM, a LVM-Driven, Latent Feature-Based Personalized Federated Learning framework. In this approach, the LVM is deployed only on central server, which effectively alleviates the computational burden on individual vehicles. Furthermore, the exchange between central server and vehicles are the learned features rather than the LVM parameters, which significantly reduces communication overhead. In addition, we utilize both shared features from all participating vehicles and individual characteristics from each vehicle to establish a personalized learning mechanism. This enables each vehicle’s model to learn features from others while preserving its personalized characteristics, thereby outperforming globally shared models trained in general FL. Extensive experiments demonstrate that pFedLVM outperforms the existing state-of-the-art approach by 18.47%, 25.60%, 51.03% and 14.19% in terms of mIoU, mF1, mPrecision and mRecall, respectively. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

3D anomaly detection has recently become a significant focus in computer vision. Several advanced methods have achieved satisfying anomaly detection performance. However, they typically concentrate on the external structure of 3D samples and struggle to leverage the internal information embedded within samples. Inspired by the basic intuition of why not look inside for more, we introduce a straightforward method named Internal Spatial Modality Perception (ISMP) to explore the feature representation from internal views fully. Specifically, our proposed ISMP consists of a critical perception module, Spatial Insight Engine (SIE), which abstracts complex internal information of point clouds into essential global features. Besides, to better align structural information with point data, we propose an enhanced key point feature extraction module for amplifying spatial structure feature representation. Simultaneously, a novel feature filtering module is incorporated to reduce noise and redundant features for further aligning precise spatial structure. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of our proposed method, achieving object-level and pixel-level AUROC improvements of 4.2% and 13.1%, respectively, on the Real3D-AD benchmarks. To enhance the generalization of multi-objective feature selection (MOFS) in classification, this paper proposes an evolutionary multitasking algorithm, diverging from previous approaches that exclusively target selected features. The algorithm integrates information from both selected and unselected features, introducing a novel objective to minimize the accuracy of unselected features. This objective, combined with the goal of minimizing classification errors for selected features, forms an auxiliary MOFS task. The paper presents a dual-population evolutionary multitasking framework that synergizes the main MOFS task with the auxiliary task. A knowledge transfer mechanism, based on accuracy preferences, seamlessly shares insights from the auxiliary to the main task, aiming to identify improved Pareto feature subsets. Empirical results demonstrate the superior performance of several state-of-the-art multi-objective algorithms within this framework, highlighting significant improvements across diverse datasets.

Public blockchain networks have been used for peer-to-peer energy trading; however, most of these networks are inefficient. The power-intensive consensus algorithm, Proof-of-Work (PoW), is one of the reasons for power inefficiency. This article proposes a lightweight consensus algorithm for demand response and energy trading models to improve efficiency in the smart grid. A cooperative approach encompassing all energy entities is also necessary for demand response management strategies to be more efficient. In the proposed model, we redesign the Proof-of-Fit (PoF) consensus algorithm for a smaller number of message exchanges and computations. We also propose a service-based use of grid infrastructure for energy trading and exchange by all energy trading entities in a cooperative approach while free energy price negotiation is exercised. The simulation results show that the redesigned consensus algorithm, Energy-Proof-Fit, reduces the average number of message broadcasts required to complete a consensus by 35 percent. Furthermore, the peak-to-average ratio of peak hour demand is reduced in the proposed model.

Metabolic engineering for biomass production using microorganisms' cell has received considerable attention in recent years. This is due to the biomass products being extensively used in the field of food additives, supplements, pharmaceuticals, and polymer materials. In this paper, ethanol production in Escherichia coli (E. coli) is the desired product. Sugarcane and corn are often used to produce ethanol. However, one of the problems to produce adequate amounts of ethanol is that large areas are needed to plant sugarcane and corn. Furthermore, the amount of time for the process of dry milling and wet milling is high, which are 40 to 50 hours and 24 to 48 hours, respectively. The wet laboratory is also having limitation on the production of ethanol in microorganisms because the amount of the ethanol produced is not satisfying. Hence, a lot of metabolic engineering techniques is introduced to enhance the production of ethanol in E. coli, such as gene knockout strategy, but the production is yet to meet the demand. Therefore, this paper proposes a hybrid algorithm of Particle Swarm Optimization with the Artificial Bee Colony algorithm (PSOABC) to identify the optimal set of gene knockout strategy to improve the ethanol production in E. coli. A list of genes to knockout, production of the desired product, and growth rate are presented in this paper. PSOABC has shown better performance in terms of production, growth rate and accuracy. © 2022 Association for Computing Machinery.

Advanced wireless networks are essential given the increase in demand for smart services enabled by the Internet of Everything (IoE). Despite the fact that 5G networks could enable Internet of Everything (IoE)-based services, they can’t meet all of the requirements needed to create intelligent applications. In order to overcome the shortcomings of the current infrastructure, there is an increasing demand to investigate the potential of 6G wireless communication technologies. Complex network optimization problems can be resolved by integrating artificial intelligence into sixth generation networks. An increasing user base and support for large-scale data-driven applications are essential given the fast evolving 6G landscape. In addition to highlighting network needs, critical supporting technologies, and a comparison of 5G and 6G networks, this study looks at recent advancements and trends in 6G technology. The report also explores new approaches to 6G connectivity, such as edge computing, backscatter communications, AI-driven IoT networks, and holographic beamforming, all of which are meant to support intelligent communities. In order to achieve the goal of 6Gbased IoT networks, it concludes by outlining potential research avenues.
