Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS) is a condition where the spinal canal in the lower back becomes narrower, resulting in pressure on the spinal cord and nearby nerves. To predict LSS, neurologists focus on four key regions in MRI axial scans: the Intervertebral Disc (IVD), Thecal Sac (TS), Posterior Element (PE), and the Area between the Anterior and Posterior (AAP) vertebrae. To delineate these regions, we present a novel hybrid ensemble deep learning CAD system for multi-class segmentation, encompassing data collection, preprocessing, automated hyperparameter optimization and selection, segmentation ensemble learning, and both qualitative and quantitative performance evaluation. The core of the proposed pipeline features two ensemble phases: (1) ensemble learning through feature space fusion of three distinct AI models (SwinUNETR, Attention Unet, and UNet++), and (2) ensemble learning via a stacking method of the feature maps outputs from the same AI models used in phase 1. The Mendeley benchmark dataset is employed to train and assess both CAD systems, while a private dataset from Firat University Hospital in Turkey is used for verification and validation. The best achieved results via FFA's mean dice score is 93.1% and mean IoU is 87.76%. showing the usefulness of using ensemble methods to capture different features from the trained models. © 2024 IEEE.

Aim/Purpose: This study aims to devise a personalized solution for online healthcare platforms that can alleviate problems arising from information overload and data sparsity by providing personalized healthcare services to patients. The primary focus of this paper is to develop an effective medicine recommendation approach for recommending suitable medications to patients based on their specific medical conditions. Background: With a growing number of people becoming more conscious about their health, there has been a notable increase in the use of online healthcare platforms and e-services as a means of diagnosis. As the internet continues to evolve, these platforms and e-services are expected to play an even more significant role in the future of healthcare. For instance, WebMD and similar platforms offer valuable tools and information to help manage patients' health, such as searching for medicines based on their medical conditions. Nonetheless, patients often find it arduous and time-consuming to sort through all the available medications to find the ones that match their specific medical conditions. To address this problem, personalized recommender systems have emerged as a practical solution for mitigating the burden of information overload and data sparsity-related issues that are frequently encountered on online healthcare platforms. Methodology: The study utilized a dataset of MC ratings obtained from WebMD, a popular healthcare website. Patients on this website can rate medications based on three criteria, including medication effectiveness, ease of use, and satisfaction, using a scale of 1 to 5. The WebMD MC rating dataset used in this study contains a total of 32,054 ratings provided by 2,136 patients for 845 different medicines. The proposed HSMCCF approach consists of two primary modules: a semantic filtering module and a multi-criteria filtering module. Federated Learning (FL) has significant potential to protect data privacy and mitigate network burden in mobile edge computing (MEC) networks. However, due to the system and data heterogeneity of mobile clients (MCs), client selection and bandwidth allocation is key for achieving cost-efficient FL in MEC networks with limited bandwidth. To address these challenges, we investigate the issue of joint client selection and bandwidth allocation for reducing the cost (i.e., latency and energy consumption) of FL training. We formulate the problem and decompose it into a holistic subproblem to reduce the number of rounds and a partial subproblem to reduce the costs of FL each round. We propose a joint class-balanced client selection and bandwidth allocation (CBCSBA) framework to address the whole problem. Specifically, for the holistic subproblem, CBCSBA combines MCs into groups, each having data distribution as close as possible to class-balanced distribution;For the partial subproblem, CBCSBA reduces costs by exploratively selecting a group and sequentially optimizing the latency and energy consumption of MCs within the group. Experimental results show that CBCSBA outperforms the baseline frameworks in reducing latency by 28.2% and energy consumption by 25.3% on average in the considered four datasets. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

The rising frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks have made real-time malicious IP detection a critical challenge for modern Security Operations Center (SOC). Traditional solutions, such as static blacklists and manual IP reputation checks, are no longer sufficient in today's dynamic threat scenario. To overcome these constraints, we present IP SafeGuard, an AI-driven platform that incorporates multi-source threat intelligence, sophisticated feature engineering, and machine learning (ML)for real-time IP categorization. The framework collects data from AbuseIPDB, VirusTotal, and other sources to compute a Dynamic Threat Score (DTS) for each IP address. It leverages an XGBoost-based classification model to achieve high accuracy and low false-positive rates, even in skewed datasets. Experimental findings indicate the improved performance of IP SafeGuard, with an accuracy of 98.2%, a precision of 97.8%, and a recall of 98.5%. The average detection duration of 45 milliseconds makes it appropriate for real-time SOC integration, enabling automated incident response through Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) alerting and firewall blocking. The framework's modular design assures scalability and adaptability, making it a vital tool for high-volume situations. By overcoming the limits of old approaches and using the power of ML, IP SafeGuard considerably boosts the efficiency and efficacy of current cybersecurity systems. Future work involves expanding the system to enable new threat intelligence sources and studying federated learning for secure and privacy-preserving threat information exchange. © 2013 IEEE.

To enhance the generalization of multi-objective feature selection (MOFS) in classification, this paper proposes an evolutionary multitasking algorithm, diverging from previous approaches that exclusively target selected features. The algorithm integrates information from both selected and unselected features, introducing a novel objective to minimize the accuracy of unselected features. This objective, combined with the goal of minimizing classification errors for selected features, forms an auxiliary MOFS task. The paper presents a dual-population evolutionary multitasking framework that synergizes the main MOFS task with the auxiliary task. A knowledge transfer mechanism, based on accuracy preferences, seamlessly shares insights from the auxiliary to the main task, aiming to identify improved Pareto feature subsets. Empirical results demonstrate the superior performance of several state-of-the-art multi-objective algorithms within this framework, highlighting significant improvements across diverse datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

Large language models (LLMs) have shown impressive performance on downstream tasks by in-context learning (ICL), which heavily relies on the quality of demonstrations selected from a large set of annotated examples. Recent works claim that in-context learning is robust to noisy demonstrations in text classification. In this work, we show that, on text generation tasks, noisy annotations significantly hurt the performance of in-context learning. To circumvent the issue, we propose a simple and effective approach called Local Perplexity Ranking (LPR), which replaces the "noisy" candidates with their nearest neighbors that are more likely to be clean. Our method is motivated by analyzing the perplexity deviation caused by noisy labels and decomposing perplexity into inherent perplexity and matching perplexity. Our key idea behind LPR is thus to decouple the matching perplexity by performing the ranking among the neighbors in semantic space. Our approach can prevent the selected demonstrations from including mismatched input-label pairs while preserving the effectiveness of the original selection methods. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of LPR, improving the EM score by up to 18.75 on common benchmarks with noisy annotations. We present a third version of the PraK system designed around an effective text-image and image-image search model. The system integrates sub-image search options for localized context search for CLIP and image color/texture and interfaces tailored to specific task types. A user study shows the benefits of sub-image search in homogeneous video collections. Recently, a noticeable trend of using Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) within the educational field has raised interest to study the shape and impact of this utilization. This study investigates the opinions of Information Technology (IT) undergraduate students about the utilization of GAI during the learning process, focusing on their perception of the quality of produced information, challenges and concerns while using it, how they utilize it during learning, and long-term impact of using GAI. An electronic survey was distributed as a Google from to undergraduate students from five IT programs at the University of Petra. The results of 122 students revealed that 82% use GAI while learning. The main use of GAI (80% of respondents) was for solving programming problems, while 66% of respondents use GAI to write reports and express their ideas. The majority 86% of participants evaluate the presented information from GAI before using them, since they believe that sometimes the information is incorrect. 89% of respondents believe that they can learn from GAI tools, however, 95% of them feel it is necessary to train them on the proper utilization of GAI in education, and, 76% think that regulations must be released about the acceptable use of GAI. © 2024 IEEE.
