Internet of Things (IoT) devices are crucial components in e-healthcare networks. It enables remote patient health monitoring and facilitates seamless communication among medical sensors, wearable devices, and healthcare providers through public communication channels. Despite these advantages, the use of public communication among medical sensors in e-healthcare networks introduces critical challenges, such as vulnerability to impersonation, physical capture, and ephemeral secret leakage, particularly in resource-constrained environments. In recent years, various access control protocols have been developed to mitigate these risks. However, these protocols often fail to ensure robust security while incurring significant communication and computation overhead. To overcome these limitations, we propose a lightweight and robust access control protocol for IoT-based e-healthcare networks using chaotic maps. We propose a novel protocol that integrates a PUF-based mechanism to mitigate the challenges of physical tampering and cloning attacks in e-healthcare networks. It leverages the inherent uniqueness of PUF and enhances security through the high-entropy properties of chaotic maps. We analyze the proposed protocol informally, which confirms that it significantly bolsters efficiency and security. We also validate the security using the Random or Real (RoR) model. Moreover, we verify the security of the proposed protocol using Scyther. These analyses highlight that the proposed protocol offers robust resistance to numerous attacks, such as impersonation, physical capture, and ephemeral secret leakage. Moreover, we also compare it with existing and relevant protocols. The comparative analysis showcases its superior performance. Notably, the proposed authentication protocol significantly reduces 46.84% computational overhead and decreases 31.30% communication overhead, underscoring its enhanced performance and resource efficiency. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

In cell culture investigations, it is assumed that the number of cells is counted automatically without the need for forward planning, additional tools, or consumables. The automatic cell counting process is greatly facilitated and made functional by the segmentation of cell culture lines. Many studies with high-accuracy results have been developed for cell or tissue segmentation in images acquired from microscopic systems, but this success cannot be achieved for segmentation of cell culture line (especially in images acquired from inverted microscope). There are still restrictions in segmentation of cell culture line studies in inverted microscope systems. In this context, a new inverted microscope image data set is created and higher accuracy auto-encoder models are developed for segmentation of HaCat cell culture line. The analyzes of the developed auto-encoder models are evaluated using four different performance evaluation procedures which are Accuracy, Sensitivity, Specificity and Jaccard. In terms of the performance evaluation procedures used in this study, the achievements of the auto-encoder models are clearly satisfactory for the automated segmentation of the HaCat cell culture line.

In case of sharp road illumination changes, bad weather such as rain, snow or fog, wear or missing of the lane marking, the reflective water stain on the road surface, the shadow obstruction of the tree, and mixed lane markings and other signs, missing detection or wrong detection will occur for the traditional lane marking detection algorithm. In this manuscript, a lane marking detection algorithm based on high-precision map and multisensor fusion is proposed. The basic principle of the algorithm is to use the centimeter-level high-precision positioning combined with high-precision map data to complete the detection of lane markings. In the process of generating high-precision maps or in the uncovered areas of high-precision maps, LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) is used to estimate the curvature of the road to assist in lane marking detection. The experimental results show that the algorithm has lower false detection rate in case of bad road conditions, and the algorithm is robust. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Medical report generation is crucial for clinical diagnosis and patient management, summarizing diagnoses and recommendations based on medical imaging. However, existing work often overlook the clinical pipeline involved in report writing, where physicians typically conduct an initial quick review followed by a detailed examination. Moreover, current alignment methods may lead to misaligned relationships. To address these issues, we propose DAMPER, a dual-stage framework for medical report generation that mimics the clinical pipeline of report writing in two stages. In the first stage, a MeSH-Guided Coarse-Grained Alignment (MCG) stage that aligns chest X-ray (CXR) image features with medical subject headings (MeSH) features to generate a rough keyphrase representation of the overall impression. In the second stage, a Hypergraph-Enhanced Fine-Grained Alignment (HFG) stage that constructs hypergraphs for image patches and report annotations, modeling high-order relationships within each modality and performing hypergraph matching to capture semantic correlations between image regions and textual phrases. Finally,the coarse-grained visual features, generated MeSH representations, and visual hypergraph features are fed into a report decoder to produce the final medical report. Extensive experiments on public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of DAMPER in generating comprehensive and accurate medical reports, outperforming state-of-the-art methods across various evaluation metrics. Anomaly detection is a popular research topic in Artificial Intelligence and has been widely applied in network security, financial fraud detection, and industrial equipment failure detection. Isolation forest based methods are the base algorithms to detect anomalies in these scenarios for their simplicity and efficiency, which has been further exploited with multi-folk trees and learning mechanisms to realize the optimal isolation forest for high detection accuracy. However, the optimal isolation forest is time-consuming with the learning mechanisms, resulting in the task failing of time-constrained applications. Moreover, the original optimal isolation forest fails to construct the optimal tree structure restricted by the time complexity. To address the above challenges, we propose an efficient anomaly detection method called EEIF, which realizes the real e-folk structure of the optimal isolation forest in our practical algorithm design. Specifically, we design a distribution that perfectly matches the e-branch theory to construct the optimal isolation forest. Then, we design an FR clustering scheme to achieve fast training of the isolation forest with learning to hash and provide related proofs of accuracy and efficiency. Besides, a parallel algorithm is integrated into our method to reduce prediction time. Finally, extensive experiments are conducted on a large amount of real-world datasets and the results demonstrate that our method significantly improves efficiency while ensuring effectiveness, compared with the state-of-the-art methods.

3D virtual try-on tasks aim to generate realistic try-on results for full- body garments, allowing them to be observed from arbitrary perspectives. Recent methods often represent the 3D human form with a fixed topol- ogy, limiting garment representation and leading to higher computational demands. Furthermore, the challenge of flexible transfer over various body parts remains. To address these problems, we introduce DI-Net(Decomposed Implicit Garment Transfer Network), where garment transfer is decomposed into 2D image layout transfer and 3D texture layout transfer. We propose a complementary warping module that leverages dense correspondence learn- ing and sparse flow learning to align the body appearance and garments with the target pose for image layout transfer. Subsequently, the transferred garments are lifted to the 3D human mesh by constructing a pixel-aligned implicit function and predicting the texture based on geometric priors. By applying different semantic masks for garment transfer, we efficiently control the texture of the generated mesh. Experimental results show the effective- ness and superiority of our method in the 3D virtual try-on task. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Semantic Communication (SC) focuses on transmitting only the semantic information rather than the raw data. This approach offers an efficient solution to the issue of spectrum resource utilization caused by the various intelligent applications on Mobile Users (MUs). Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) models have recently exhibited remarkable content generation and signal processing capabilities, presenting new opportunities for enhancing SC. Therefore, we propose a GAI-assisted SC (GSC) model deployed between MUs and the Base Station (BS). Then, to train the GSC model using the local data of MUs while ensuring privacy and accommodating heterogeneous requirements of MUs, we introduce Personalized Semantic Federated Learning (PSFL). This approach incorporates a novel Personalized Local Distillation (PLD) and Adaptive Global Pruning (AGP). In PLD, each MU selects a personalized GSC model as a mentor tailored to its local resources and a unified Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)-based SC (CSC) model as a student. This mentor model is then distilled into the student model for global aggregation. In AGP, we perform network pruning on the aggregated global model according to real-time communication environments, reducing communication energy. Finally, numerical results demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed PSFL scheme. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Postoperative risk prediction has a positive effect on clinical resource planning, emergency plan preparation and reducing postoperative risk and mortality. Postoperative risk prediction is mainly based on patient's basic information, laboratory tests, vital signs and other structured data, while the value of unstructured preoperative diagnosis with rich semantic information remains to be verified. Aiming at attempting this problem, an unstructured data representation enhanced postoperative risk prediction model is proposed in this paper. The model utilizes self-attention to fuse structured data with preoperative diagnosis. Pervasive sensing and wearable sensor techniques have been increasingly employed to monitor and recognize human activities through body sensors in areas of smart healthcare and manufacturing. However, conventional machine learning or deep learning based human activity recognition (HAR) requires a large amount of labeled data, which is cost-expensive in real-world scenarios. To tackle this issue, we propose a contrastive learning framework for HAR (CL-HAR), which utilizes the generated unlabeled data as the input and explores the supervised features of the unlabeled data under the principle of self-supervised learning. A simple yet effective backbone network as a feature extractor for subsequent activity recognition is proposed. By using a small portion of the labeled samples as the training set which is fed into our learned feature extractor, we build a classifier and use the rest of the data to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of our CL method. Extensive experiments on three benchamark datasets and one real-world dataset demonstrate that CL-HAR can achieve better classification accuracy than compared supervised and semi-supervised methods with less labelled samples, which is of practical use. © 2023 IEEE.

After designing a simulation and running it locally on a small network instance, the implementation can be scaled-up via parallel and distributed computing (e.g., a cluster) to cope with massive networks. However, implementation changes can create errors (e.g., parallelism errors), which are difficult to identify since the aggregate behavior of an incorrect implementation of a stochastic network simulation can fall within the distributions expected from correct implementations. In this paper, we propose the first approach that applies machine learning to traces of network simulations to detect errors. Our technique transforms simulation traces into images by reordering the network's adjacency matrix, and then training supervised machine learning models. Our evaluation on three simulation models shows that we can easily detect previously encountered types of errors and even confidently detect new errors. This work opens up numerous opportunities by examining other simulation models, representations (i.e., matrix reordering algorithms), or machine learning techniques.
