Fuzzy multi-attribute decision making for software defect detection model evaluation

With the continuous expansion of the computer system application field, the complexity of software system is also improving. software defect detection has gradually become an important research direction in the field of software engineering. At present, the mixed statistics and machine learning methods have been proved to be able to implement software defect detection models well. However, the evaluation index of the detection model is diverse and it is difficult to determine which model evaluation indicators are in line with the actual expectations. Aiming at this kind of problem, a software defect detection model evaluation method based on fuzzy multi-objective attribute decision making is proposed. First, extract the characteristics of software modules, use McCabe and Halstead software modules to measure attributes. Then select five common classification algorithms to establish software defect detection models, and obtain seven evaluation index values of each model. Further, based on fuzzy multi-objective attribute decision making method with fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) to compare multiple objectives, and obtain the results of index determination. Finally, the fuzzy evaluation algorithm is used to convert the evaluation index of qualitative evaluation into quantitative evaluation to obtain the final decision evaluation value. The experimental results show the effectiveness and practicality of the method. © 2020 Totem Publisher, Inc.

The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is an application of the Internet of things (IoT). It faces two main security problems: (1) the central server of the IoV may not be powerful enough to support the centralized authentication of the rapidly increasing connected vehicles, (2) the IoV itself may not be robust enough to single-node attacks. To solve these problems, this paper proposes SG-PBFT: a secure and highly efficient PBFT consensus algorithm for Internet of Vehicles, which is based on a distributed blockchain structure. The distributed structure can reduce the pressure on the central server and decrease the risk of single-node attacks. The SG-PBFT consensus algorithm improves the traditional PBFT consensus algorithm by using a score grouping mechanism to achieve a higher consensus efficiency. The experimental result shows that our method can greatly improve the consensus efficiency and prevent single-node attacks. Specifically, when the number of consensus nodes reaches 1000, the consensus time of our algorithm is only about 27% of what is required for the state-of-the-art consensus algorithm (PBFT). Our proposed SG-PBFT is versatile and can be used in other application scenarios which require high consensus efficiency. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Human gait refers to a daily motion that represents not only mobility, but it can also be used to identify the walker by either human observers or computers. Recent studies reveal that gait even conveys information about the walker’s emotion. Individuals in different emotion states may show different gait patterns. The mapping between various emotions and gait patterns provides a new source for automated emotion recognition. Compared to traditional emotion detection biometrics, such as facial expression, speech, and physiological parameters, gait is remotely observable, more difficult to imitate, and requires less cooperation from the subject. These advantages make gait a promising source for emotion detection. This article reviews current research on gait-based emotion detection, particularly on how gait parameters can be affected by different emotion states and how the emotion states can be recognized through distinct gait patterns. We focus on the detailed methods and techniques applied in the whole process of emotion recognition: data collection, preprocessing, and classification. At last, we discuss possible future developments of efficient and effective gait-based emotion recognition using the state of the art techniques in intelligent computation and big data. —Uncertainty quantification (UQ) plays a pivotal role in the reduction of uncertainties during both optimization and decision making, applied to solve a variety of real-world applications in science and engineering. Bayesian approximation and ensemble learning techniques are two of the most widely-used UQ methods in the literature. In this regard, researchers have proposed different UQ methods and examined their performance in a variety of applications such as computer vision (e.g., self-driving cars and object detection), image processing (e.g., image restoration), medical image analysis (e.g., medical image classification and segmentation), natural language processing (e.g., text classification, social media texts and recidivism risk-scoring), bioinformatics, etc. This study reviews recent advances in UQ methods used in deep learning, investigates the application of these methods in reinforcement learning, and highlight the fundamental research challenges and directions associated with the UQ field. The high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) images generated with digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) in the screening of breast cancer offer new possibilities for early disease diagnosis. Early detection is especially important as the incidence of breast cancer increases. However, DBT also presents challenges in terms of poorer results for dense breasts, increased false positive rates, slightly higher radiation doses, and increased reading times. Deep learning (DL) has been shown to effectively increase the processing efficiency and diagnostic accuracy of DBT images. This article reviews the application and outlook of DL in DBT-based breast cancer screening. First, the fundamentals and challenges of DBT technology are introduced. The applications of DL in DBT are then grouped into three categories: diagnostic classification of breast diseases, lesion segmentation and detection, and medical image generation. Additionally, the current public databases for mammography are summarized in detail. Finally, this paper analyzes the main challenges in the application of DL techniques in DBT, such as the lack of public datasets and model training issues, and proposes possible directions for future research, including large language models, multisource domain transfer, and data augmentation, to encourage innovative applications of DL in medical imaging. © 2025 The Author(s). Traditional centralized multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) algorithms are sometimes unpractical in complicated applications due to non-interactivity between agents, the curse of dimensionality, and computation complexity. Hence, several decentralized MARL algorithms are motivated. However, existing decentralized methods only handle the fully cooperative setting where massive information needs to be transmitted in training. The block coordinate gradient descent scheme they used for successive independent actor and critic steps can simplify the calculation, but it causes serious bias. This paper proposes a flexible fully decentralized actor-critic MARL framework, which can combine most of the actor-critic methods and handle large-scale general cooperative multi-agent settings. A primal-dual hybrid gradient descent type algorithm framework is designed to learn individual agents separately for decentralization. From the perspective of each agent, policy improvement and value evaluation are jointly optimized, which can stabilize multi-agent policy learning. Furthermore, the proposed framework can achieve scalability and stability for the large-scale environment. This framework also reduces information transmission by the parameter sharing mechanism and novel modeling-other-agents methods based on theory-of-mind and online supervised learning. Sufficient experiments in cooperative Multiagent Particle Environment and StarCraft II show that the proposed decentralized MARL instantiation algorithms perform competitively against conventional centralized and decentralized methods. CHD (Coronary Heart Disease) is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular disease deaths. Invasive coronary arteriography is one of the widely used approaches to diagnose CHD. However, the time cost and expenses for most of the diagnosis methodologies are high and some patients are reluctant to do such a diagnosis. In this paper, we aim to develop a novel low cost method to predict CHD. As suggested by the cardiologists, there are substantial differences between the facial images of patients with CHD and those of healthy subjects. In this paper, we conduct an automatic analysis of the texture features extracted from eight ROIs (Regions of Interests) of the face images. Based on the texture features, random forest and decision tree are used to predict whether the subject has a CHD, or not. The experimental results on a set of 1528 face images collected from 309 subjects suggest that, our approach achieved a promising, i.e. 72.73%, prediction accuracy. © 2019 IEEE.

An Improved multi-objective genetic algorithm based on orthogonal design and adaptive clustering pruning strategy

Two important characteristics of multi-objective evolutionary algorithms are distribution and convergency. As a classic multiobjective genetic algorithm, NSGA-II is widely used in multi-objective optimization fields. However, in NSGA-II, the random population initialization and the strategy of population maintenance based on distance cannot maintain the distribution or convergency of the population well. To dispose these two deficiencies, this paper proposes an improved algorithm, OTNSGA-II II, which has a better performance on distribution and convergency. The new algorithm adopts orthogonal experiment, which selects individuals in manner of a new discontinuing non-dominated sorting and crowding distance, to produce the initial population. And a new pruning strategy based on clustering is proposed to self-adaptively prunes individuals with similar features and poor performance in non-dominated sorting and crowding distance, or to individuals are far away from the Pareto Front according to the degree of intraclass aggregation of clustering results. The new pruning strategy makes population to converge to the Pareto Front more easily and maintain the distribution of population. OTNSGA-II and NSGA-II are compared on various types of test functions to verify the improvement of OTNSGA-II in terms of distribution and convergency. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. intelligent decision-making (IDM) is a cornerstone of artificial intelligence (AI) designed to automate or augment decision processes. Modern IDM paradigms integrate advanced frameworks to enable intelligent agents to make effective and adaptive choices and decompose complex tasks into manageable steps, such as AI agents and high-level reinforcement learning. Recent advances in multimodal foundation-based approaches unify diverse input modalities—such as vision, language, and sensory data—into a cohesive decision-making process. Foundation models (FMs) have become pivotal in science and industry, transforming decision-making and research capabilities. Their large-scale, multimodal data-processing abilities foster adaptability and interdisciplinary breakthroughs across fields such as healthcare, life sciences, and education. This survey examines IDM's evolution, advanced paradigms with FMs and their transformative impact on decision-making across diverse scientific and industrial domains, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in building efficient, adaptive, and ethical decision systems. © 2025 The Authors

Angle closure glaucoma (ACG) is a more aggressive disease than open-angle glaucoma, where the abnormal anatomical structures of the anterior chamber angle (ACA) may cause an elevated intraocular pressure and gradually leads to glaucomatous optic neuropathy and eventually to visual impairment and blindness. Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (AS-OCT) imaging provides a fast and contactless way to discriminate angle closure from open angle. Although many medical image analysis algorithms have been developed for glaucoma diagnosis, only a few studies have focused on AS-OCT imaging. In particular, there is no public AS-OCT dataset available for evaluating the existing methods in a uniform way, which limits the progress in the development of automated techniques for angle closure detection and assessment. To address this, we organized the Angle closure Glaucoma Evaluation challenge (AGE), held in conjunction with MICCAI 2019. The AGE challenge consisted of two tasks: scleral spur localization and angle closure classification. For this challenge, we released a large data of 4800 annotated AS-OCT images from 199 patients, and also proposed an evaluation framework to benchmark and compare different models. During the AGE challenge, over 200 teams registered online, and more than 1100 results were submitted for online evaluation. Finally, eight teams participated in the onsite challenge. In this paper, we summarize these eight onsite challenge methods and analyze their corresponding results in the two tasks. We further discuss limitations and future directions. In the AGE challenge, the top-performing approach had an average Euclidean Distance of 10 pixel (10µm) in scleral spur localization, while in the task of angle closure classification, all the algorithms achieved the satisfactory performances, especially, 100% accuracy rate for top-two performances.
