Medical imagery has been increasingly used in diagnosing and treating various diseases, leading to advances in healthcare. While humans usually lead the qualitative interpretation of visual features, Automated Classification of Medical Images Using Convolution Neural Networks (CNNs) has gained traction for accurate image classification. CNNs are a type of deep learning algorithm that attempts to mimic the structure of the human brain and are ideal for image classification due to their convolution layers that can detect patterns within the image. These convolution layers enable the networks to learn the characteristics of the data through a series of convolution and pooling operations. Additionally, they can rapidly identify relationships and patterns within the dataset and extract features from the input image, thus allowing a more accurate classification. With the increasing availability of medical imaging data, advancements in the field of ML/AI has enabled the use of CNNs for automated medical image classification, helping clinicians to diagnose diseases accurately with less time and effort. ©2024 IEEE.

Explosive based attacks on people and sensitive places in the form of terrorism has become a global challenge that is making organizations such as airports, train station, security agencies and the government to do anything possible to secure the lives of people and some essential infrastructures. Several approaches have been adopted to prevent its occurrence that ranges from the use of animals, analytical means and sensor based approach to manual screaming by human personnel. With the development in the field of Artificial intelligent, efforts are being made to deploy Sensor base system that leverage of machine learning technology to make the system highly accurate and sensitive in detection of explosive trace within an environment. This study presents the architecture of area base explosive trace detection utilizing deep learning model. The experiment shows the concept of area based explosive trace detection from trace properties of Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen and Hydrogen (CNOH). The deep leaning model recorded an accuracy of 98% on the explosive trace data. The system uses this information to detect the presence of explosion within an area.

Point-based methods have made significant progress, but improving their scalability in large-scale 3D scenes is still a challenging problem. In this paper, we delve into the point-based method and develop a simpler, faster, stronger variant model, dubbed as LinNet. In particular, we first propose the disassembled set abstraction (DSA) module, which is more effective than the previous version of set abstraction. It achieves more efficient local aggregation by leveraging spatial anisotropy and channel anisotropy separately. Additionally, by mapping 3D point clouds onto 1D space-filling curves, we enable parallelization of downsampling and neighborhood queries on GPUs with linear complexity. LinNet, as a purely point-based method, outperforms most previous methods in both indoor and outdoor scenes without any extra attention, and sparse convolution but merely relying on a simple MLP. It achieves the mIoU of 73.7%, 81.4%, and 69.1% on the S3DIS Area5, NuScenes, and SemanticKITTI validation benchmarks, respectively, while speeding up almost 10x times over PointNeXt. Our work further reveals both the efficacy and efficiency potential of the vanilla point-based models in large-scale representation learning. In text mining problems, text classification is one of the common tasks. Several real-world document classification involves imbalanced text data. This research investigates the behavior of Support Vector Machines classifiers on textual news data. The set of features is developed using the Count Vectorizer and Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency to train and test the model. We have observed the quality of the SVM classification algorithm with both linear and polynomial kernel on benchmark UCI News datasets: Reuters. The result shows that SVM with linear performs better and achieves 94.10% accuracy where SVM with polynomial kernel achieves 93.28% accuracy on the benchmark dataset. © 2022 IEEE.

High-resolution point clouds (HRPCD) anomaly detection (AD) plays a critical role in precision machining and high-end equipment manufacturing. Despite considerable 3D-AD methods that have been proposed recently, they still cannot meet the requirements of the HRPCD-AD task. There are several challenges: i) It is difficult to directly capture HRPCD information due to large amounts of points at the sample level;ii) The advanced transformer-based methods usually obtain anisotropic features, leading to degradation of the representation;iii) The proportion of abnormal areas is very small, which makes it difficult to characterize. To address these challenges, we propose a novel group-level feature-based network, called Group3AD, which has a significantly efficient representation ability. First, we design an Intercluster Uniformity Network (IUN) to present the mapping of different groups in the feature space as several clusters, and obtain a more uniform distribution between clusters representing different parts of the point clouds in the feature space. Then, an Intracluster Alignment Network (IAN) is designed to encourage groups within the cluster to be distributed tightly in the feature space. In addition, we propose an Adaptive Group-Center Selection (AGCS) based on geometric information to improve the pixel density of potential anomalous regions during inference. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of our proposed Group3AD, which surpasses Reg3D-AD by the margin of 5% in terms of object-level AUROC on Real3D-AD. Traditional visual-inertial SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) systems predominantly rely on feature point matching from a single robot to realize the robot pose estimation and environment map construction. However, in complex scenarios, these traditional systems struggle with issues such as tracking failures due to illumination changes, rapid movements, and low-texture environments, and they perform poorly in terms of mapping efficiency and global consistency. To address these challenges, we propose a centralized collaborative SLAM system that employs both point and line features for tracking in the robot and map fusion in the cloud. The proposed system leverages the fusion of point and line features across all instances in the process, which allows our method to achieve higher localization accuracy in structured, low-texture scenes. With the aid of classifying gravity-aligned vertical lines and spatial parallel lines, the proposed system can deliver faster and more accurate odometry in complex scenes. Furthermore, we developed intra-robot and inter-robot loop closure detection methods based on point and line features, generating a globally consistent sparse point cloud and structured scene map in the cloud. Our method is able to build richer maps while improving accuracy compared to existing methods. Experimental results on public datasets and in real-world environments show that, compared to existing advanced methods, our approach demonstrates better performance. © 2014 IEEE.

Due to over-abundant information on the Web, information filtering becomes a key task for online users to obtain relevant suggestions and how to extract the most related item is always a key topic for researchers in various fields. In this paper, we adopt tools used to analyze complex networks to evaluate user reputation and item quality. In our proposed Accumulative Time Based Ranking (ATR) algorithm, we take into account the growth record of the network to identify the evolution of the reputation of users and the quality of items, by incorporating two behavior weighting factors which can capture the hidden facts on reputation and quality dynamics for each user and item respectively. Our proposed ATR algorithm mainly combines the iterative approach to rank user reputation and item quality with temporal dependence compared with other reputation evaluation methods. We show that our algorithm outperforms other benchmark ranking algorithms in terms of precision and robustness on empirical datasets from various online retailers and the citation datasets among research publications. Therefore, our proposed method has the capability to effectively evaluate user reputation and item quality.

Readme files and commit logs carry important and useful project information, corresponding to project dependencies, project functionalities, additions, deletions, and so on. These two artifacts have been analysed separately to obtain project specific information corresponding to contribution guidelines, bug prediction and localisation. Linking the readme files with associated commits and further querying the linked data could help in assessing time stamp specific changes made to the readme files. Utilizing knowledge graph representation of data is observed to largely support querying and integration and extraction of data from heterogeneous sources. To this end, we present a tool to generate readme specific temporal knowledge graph, as a first step towards integrating readme files and commit logs. As commits contain temporal information of the changes, we see that overlaying this information over the corresponding text in readme files could help in arriving at a temporal knowledge graph (TKG). We present a case study of querying the TKG for one repository and further evaluate the tool on 10 repositories spanning across 10 programming languages on GitHub. Fine-grained visual categorization is challenged by limited training data by localizing discriminative regions and learning diverse features. We propose an effective regularization method that simultaneously imposes spatial consistency and feature diversity on CNN feature maps from a unified perspective. The former guides different feature map channels to concentrate collaboratively on the discriminative areas while the latter ensures that the feature maps are diverse. The proposed method does not require additional supervision, and leverages the covariance matrix of multi-channel feature maps to regularize the loss at the last convolutional layer where the semantic information is the richest. This allows the influence to be backpropagated to update all convolutional layers. We perform experiments using four network architectures for transfer learning from two source domains to three target domains, and demonstrate that our regularization method improves accuracy in all different settings. The proposed regularization method achieves state-of-the-art performance on CUB-200-2011, Stanford-Cars, and Stanford-Dogs datasets with 89.8%, 94.6%, and 88.5% accuracy, respectively. © 2022 IEEE.

In recent years, Variational AutoEncoder (VAE) based methods have made many important achievements in the field of collaborative filtering recommendation system. VAE is a kind of Bayesian model which combines latent variable model with variational inference, but its optimization is often troubled by posterior collapse. By comparing the optimization process of VAE and ordinary autoencoder, we observe that the mismatch between poorly optimized encoder and decoder with too strong characterization capabilities makes it difficult to learn the mapping from the data manifold to the parameterized graph. Since the learning of a posteriori network corresponds to the encoder, we think that the problem of a posteriori collapse can be alleviated by balancing the encoder and decoder better. Therefore, we proposed Hy-VAE, which combines conventional VAE with deterministic autoencoder, and has the advantages of both VAE and deterministic autoencoder. Experiments on three real-world recommendation data sets show that our method alleviates the posterior crash problem in VAE and improves the recommendation performance. © 2022 IEEE.
