Evaluation of Electronic Medical Certification (EMC) is integral to today's healthcare systems since they are a consolidated database of individual patients' medical histories. Security measures and privacy issues are standard in electronic medical certification. Incompatible systems make sharing data across healthcare providers difficult, which may lead to data breaches and a lack of patient authority over their medical data. Blockchain has become essential for real-world corporate applications where confidentiality of information is paramount. The handling of security in medical records through a decentralized peer-to-peer network might be revolutionized by blockchain technology and improving the protection of the interchange of healthcare records. This study proposes a lightweight flask framework-based blockchain strategy to store and display patient status and transaction log information about their disease diagnosis. In a potential Blockchain system, the diseased patients act as assets, and their records contain any prior illnesses as blocks. The report analyzes a lot of national and international EHR standards. It identifies which of these interoperability needs to be addressed, discusses the interoperability challenges in but also outlines the standards. Current blockchain-based EHR frameworks. Without the suggested has the requirement for centralized systems. By using this framework, the healthcare industry can be provided safer ways to while also providing the exchange of health information. It offers features of immutability, security, and user control over stored records. This work contributes to an understanding of what potential Blockchain technology has offered an interoperable application in the EHR frameworks. Meet the blockchain-based EHR framework. Classifying scenes and aerial imagery is a critical component in applications such as land-use analysis, land cover mapping, and remote sensing technologies. Numerous existing models leverage Convolutional Neural Networks for classification, but they often involve intricate designs with a vast number of parameters, necessitating extensive computational power and prolonged training periods. This paper introduces a refined strategy employing a pre-trained EfficientNet B0 framework. Modification of parameters and layers through careful fine-tuning has resulted in notable enhancements in the model's classification precision. The superiority of EfficientNet B0 over comparative CNN architectures was confirmed by testing with three disparate datasets, particularly within the sphere of remote sensing imagery. The EfficientNet B0's superior performance is credited to its optimal structure that strikes a balance between model complexity and efficiency. Effective fine-tuning coupled with judicious computational resource allocation yields substantial accuracy in categorization. Moreover, its adaptability to assimilate remote sensing data exemplifies its widespread applicability. This study accentuates the significance of refining prevailing deep learning models to cater to specified objectives. Tailoring pre-trained models such as EfficientNet B0 enables marked advancements in classification precision, circumventing the necessity for intricate systems or significant computational demands. This methodology is promising for elevating both the proficiency and impact of scene and aerial image classification across a range of fields, with particular implications for remote sensing endeavors. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Image generation in 2D and 3D has become an active research topic in Deep Learning. Single or multiple input images with non-orthogonal views are used for another shape and texture with different viewing angles. On the other hand, computer-Aided Design (CAD) relies on handling-based 3D generation, i.e., isometric view images, from three orthographic view line drawings in 2D. However, since unique viewing pairs of such 2D and 3D images are required to train, SOTA models are insufficient to generate desirable images. More spatial and geometrical constraints remain undone due to less corresponding image features between images. This paper proposes IsoTGAN with a GAN-based generator with the Transformer in its generator, where three images of an object’s front, side, and top view are input. The encoder is trained by the spatial and geometrical relation among three view images. A novel Gaussian Enhanced Euclidean attention mechanism and a geometry-constrained loss function are also proposed for further local image feature enhancement. Extensive experiments on the SPARE3D dataset demonstrate that the proposed IsoTGAN outperforms State-of-the-art (SOTA) models, i.e., DINO, regarding local and global image feature accuracy. Air quality forecasting is critical for environmental monitoring and public health, and in this study, we propose a hybrid approach utilizing Gooseneck Barnacle Optimization (GBO) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to enhance predictive accuracy. The air quality dataset, comprising pollutant concentrations (CO, NOx, benzene) and meteorological factors (temperature, humidity), is sourced from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. GBO is employed to fine-tune the ANN's hyperparameters (especially the weight and bias), as well as the number of layers, neurons, and activation functions, to improve regression-based forecasting. The GBOANN model achieves a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.562 and a Root Mean Squared Percentage Error (RMSPE) of 5.63%, outperforming other metaheuristic methods like BMO, SSA, DA, MVO, and EMA. This study demonstrates the GBO-ANN model's potential for accurate real-time air quality forecasting, offering a robust, sustainable solution. © 2025 IEEE.

On Strong Secrecy for Multiple Access Channels With States and Causal CSI

Strong secrecy communication over a discrete memoryless state-dependent multiple access channel (SD-MAC) with an external eavesdropper is investigated. The channel is governed by discrete memoryless and i.i.d. channel states, and the channel state information (CSI) is revealed to the encoders in a causal manner. The main results of this paper are inner and outer bounds of the capacity region, for which we investigate coding schemes incorporating wiretap coding and secret key agreements between the sender and the legitimate receiver. Two kinds of block Markov coding schemes are proposed. The first is a new coding scheme that uses backward decoding and the Wyner-Ziv coding, and the secret key is constructed from a lossy description of the CSI. The other is an extended version of an existing coding scheme for point-to-point wiretap channels with causal CSI. A numerical example shows that the achievable region given by the first coding scheme can be strictly larger than the second one. However, these two schemes do not outperform each other in general, and there exist some numerical examples in which each coding scheme achieves some rate pairs that cannot be achieved by another scheme. Our established inner bound reduces to some best-known results in the literature as special cases. We further investigate some capacity-achieving cases for state-dependent multiple access wiretap channels (SD-MAWCs) with degraded message sets. It turns out that the two coding schemes are both optimal in these cases. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

SQUMUTH squirrel search based algorithm for high order mutant generation in mutation testing

In today's software testing community, quality assessment remains critical, with mutation testing standing as a cornerstone technique for evaluating the effectiveness of test cases. This method involves introducing faulty code, or mutants, into the program to assess the quality of the test suite and other testing methods. However, mutation testing faces challenges such as the generation of numerous mutants, the presence of equivalent mutants that are difficult to detect through testing, and the lack of realistic mutant creation. Literature reviews indicate significant efforts to address these issues through formal solutions and heuristic methods. Recent optimization-based methods are now recognized as cost-effective result in an optimized solution. Hence, to overcome these limitations, this study introduces SQUMUTH, a novel approach for high-order mutant generation based on the Squirrel Search Algorithm (SSA). Inspired by the foraging behavior of squirrels, SSA offers a promising solution for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of mutation testing. Experimental evaluations on eight well-known Java benchmark programs demonstrate that SQUMUTH outperforms existing methods. Comparative analyses of mutation scores and the rates of realistic mutants consistently show its better performance across all subject programs compared to other state-of-the-art methods such as Social Group Optimization, Binary Genetic Algorithm, and random testing. The experimental results underscore its effectiveness in generating more realistic mutants. The experimental results indicated that the proposed approach has the potential to advance software testing by improving the cost-effectiveness of mutation analysis and the quality of software systems. © The Author(s) 2025.

The 4D auto-labeling system, with its potential to enhance data annotation efficiency for 3D object detection, has garnered significant attention. However, its adoption has been hampered by the high costs associated with temporally annotated long-sequential training data and limited generalization capabilities across diverse scenarios. In this paper, we hypothesize that a multi-dataset approach can address these challenges and, accordingly, first introduce a Unified training pipeline for multi-dataset 4D Auto-Labeling, namely Uni4DAL. We recognize that this is a challenging task, primarily due to data-level variations and feature-level inconsistencies among various datasets. Motivated by this understanding, we initially propose a series of Data-Level Alignment (DLA) operations to mitigate potential discrepancies between diverse datasets and ensure synchronized training progress across samples from multiple datasets. Furthermore, to address feature-level inconsistencies, we introduce the Mixed Expert Models Voxel Feature Encoding (MoE-VFE) module, which aims to extract both domain-specific and domain-generalizable features. Additionally, we employ a Domain-Adaptive Hard Example Mining (DA-HEM) technique to leverage both data-level and feature-level consistencies, ensuring that the model pays enhanced attention to the challenging samples during multi-dataset training. Finally, comprehensive experiments demonstrate that Uni4DAL significantly improves performance on the nuScenes, Argoverse2, and Waymo datasets, and exhibits greater robustness with insufficient training data. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) involves the narrowing of the spinal canal, leading to compression of the spinal cord and nerves in the lower back. Common causes include injuries, degenerative age-related changes, congenital conditions, and tumors, all of which contribute to back pain. Early diagnosis is critical for symptom management, preventing progression, and preserving quality of life. This study systematically reviews AI-based approaches for predicting LSS using MRI axial and sagittal imaging. The review focuses on various AI tasks: detection, segmentation, classification, hybrid approaches, spinal index measurements (SIM), and explainable AI frameworks. The aim is to highlight current knowledge, identify limitations in existing models, and propose future research directions. Following PRISMA guidelines and the PICO method (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome), the review collects data from databases like PubMed, Web of science, scienceDirect, and IEEE Xplore (2005–2024). The Rayyan AI tool is used for duplicate removal and screening. The screening process includes an initial review of titles and abstracts, followed by full-text appraisal. The Meta Quality Appraisal Tool (MetaQAT) assesses the quality of selected articles. Of 1323 records, 97 duplicates were removed. After screening, 895 records were excluded, leaving 331 for full-text review. Among these, 184 articles were excluded for lacking AI relevance. Ultimately, 95 key articles (91 technical papers and 4 reviews) were identified for their contributions to AI-based LSS prediction. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of AI techniques in LSS prediction, guiding future research and advancing understanding in areas like explainable AI and large language models (LLMs). © The Author(s) 2025.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a debilitating neurodegenerative disease that has severe impacts on an individual’s quality of life. Compared with structural and functional MRI-based biomarkers for the disease, electroencephalography (EEG) can provide more accessible alternatives for clinical insights. While deep learning (DL) techniques have provided excellent outcomes, many techniques fail to model spatial information and dynamic brain connectivity, and face challenges in robust feature learning, limited data sizes, and poor explainability. To address these issues, we proposed a novel graph neural network (GNN) technique for explainable PD detection using resting state EEG. Specifically, we employ structured global convolutions with contrastive learning to better model complex features with limited data, a novel multi-head graph structure learner to capture the non-Euclidean structure of EEG data, and a head-wise gradient-weighted graph attention explainer to offer neural connectivity insights. We developed and evaluated our method using the UC San Diego Parkinson’s disease EEG dataset, and achieved 69.40% detection accuracy in subject-wise leave-one-out cross-validation while generating intuitive explanations for the learnt graph topology. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Migrant Resettlement by Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization

Migration has been a universal phenomenon, which brings opportunities as well as challenges for global development. As the number of migrants (e.g., refugees) increases rapidly, a key challenge faced by each country is the problem of migrant resettlement. This problem has attracted scientific research attention, from the perspective of maximizing the employment rate. Previous works mainly formulated migrant resettlement as an approximately submodular optimization problem subject to multiple matroid constraints and employed the greedy algorithm, whose performance, however, may be limited due to its greedy nature. In this article, we propose a new framework called migrant resettlement by evolutionary multiobjective optimization (MR-EMO), which reformulates migrant resettlement as a biobjective optimization problem that maximizes the expected number of employed migrants and minimizes the number of dispatched migrants simultaneously, and employs a multiobjective evolutionary algorithm (MOEA) to solve the biobjective problem. We implement MR-EMO using three MOEAs: the popular nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II), MOEA based on decomposition (MOEA/D) as well as the theoretically grounded global simple evolutionary multiobjective optimizer (GSEMO). To further improve the performance of MR-EMO, we propose a specific MOEA, called GSEMO using matrix-swap mutation and repair mechanism (GSEMO-SR), which has a better ability to search for feasible solutions. We prove that MR-EMO using either GSEMO or GSEMO-SR can achieve better theoretical guarantees than the previous greedy algorithm. Experimental results under the interview and coordination migration models clearly show the superiority of MR-EMO (with either NSGA-II, MOEA/D, GSEMO or GSEMO-SR) over previous algorithms, and that using GSEMO-SR leads to the best performance of MR-EMO. © 2024 IEEE.
