As of today, research in vulnerable road users (VRUs) applications is mainly focused on safety in urban road scenarios. There is little to be found in the literature with respect to VRUs in mountain areas, where mountain biking and hiking also present risks of collision. Here, it is not yet clear whether existing localization and communication technologies would provide sufficient performance in such harsh environments. In this work, we start answering this question by presenting the results of a measurement campaign which took place in a mountain area in Northern Italy during Summer 2024. With respect to localization, we show that global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-based localization alone often provides unreliable results due to vegetation and terrain. Trilateration with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and beacons mounted at fixed positions performs well in some circumstances and can be used to enhance GNSS, however, we also observed many unclear effects that require further investigations. Concerning communication, the results indicate that both direct short range communications (DSRC) and cellular V2X (C-V2X) works fairly well in most cases, but terrain characteristics might induce packet losses or low signal quality, whereas instabilities in GNSS fixes might also cause C-V2X outages.

Frequently, individuals undergo specific episodes of mental health challenges throughout their lifetime. But the COVID pandemic has triggered a surge in mental health disorders arising from isolation, monotonous routines, demanding workloads, financial disparities, and disruptions to daily schedules. Furthermore, the global pandemic has induced constant anxiety and stress. Beyond the pandemic, the competition and intense pressure of the modern world impact mental health. Access to advanced mental health solutions and the necessary familiarity remain limited for most of the population. Given the integration of technology into daily life, diverse remedies, including mobile and web applications, have emerged to tackle the escalating challenge of mental health disorders. This study proposes an accessible and cost-effective approach that employs machine learning to detect stress levels and discern user emotions from journal entries and facial expressions while integrating self-journaling, video recommendations, and visual content generation to stimulate positive emotions and relieve stress. © 2023 IEEE.

The landscape of cybersecurity in manufacturing exhibits a dynamic interplay between evolving threats and vulnerabilities against innovative defense mechanisms. With the increasing adoption of smart and cloud-controlled technologies, there is a growing emphasis on securing manufacturing systems from cyberattacks. Future trends indicate a shift toward implementing more advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning for threat identification, attack detection, and response. In addition, the adoption of secure-by-design principles in product development and the integration of blockchain technology for ensuring the integrity of supply chain data are expected to become more prevalent. As manufacturers continue to digitize and connect their operations, collaboration between industry stakeholders, government agencies, and cybersecurity experts will be crucial in developing robust defense strategies against evolving security threats. This Special Issue provided a platform for the research advancing understanding of and addressing these threats. The article by Rahman et al., “Taxonomy-Driven Graph-Theoretic Framework for Manufacturing Cybersecurity Risk Modeling and Assessment,” presents a taxonomy-driven graph-theoretic model and framework to represent the threat landscape of cybersecurity and identify vulnerable manufacturing assets. The model and framework contain three techniques to address identified research challenges. First, the proposed framework characterizes threat actors' techniques, tactics, and procedures using taxonomical classifications of manufacturing-specific threat attributes and integrates these attributes into cybersecurity risk modeling. Second, using the attack graph formalism, the proposed framework enables concurrent modeling and analysis of a wide variety of cybersecurity threats comprising varying attack vectors, locations, vulnerabilities, and consequences. In the era of business, business intelligence (BI) technology can inform the decision-maker of the right data and insight. In this study, a business intelligence model is built to help the marketing department build an efficient promotion strategy. This paper aims to understand the impact of segmenting customers using the soft clustering technique (fuzz-c-means) based on their spending behavior or Recency, Frequency, and Monetary Model (RFM model) on product affiliation or market basket analysis to develop more efficient promotions to target customers. This aim is approached first by, downloading a dataset called online retail from Kaggle, exploring data to remove the missing value and detect and remove outliers, and constructing an RFM model (Recency, frequency, and monetary). Second, the clustering algorithm is performed fuzzy-c-means, to segment customers into clusters with similar characteristics. Third, product affiliation or association rules are obtained as per cluster using the FP-growth algorithm. Eventually, spending behavior is concluded to show a significant impact on product affiliation which means that clustering based on spending behavior increases the efficiency of market basket analysis (MBA).

Students' stress levels have a significant impact on their academic performance in higher education, thus it's important to identify signs of stress early on and intervene to improve academic performance. Machine learning has evolved into a powerful tool for stress prediction, allowing for proactive support of at-risk youngsters. In order to better anticipate college students' stress levels, this study presents an enhanced TriBranch CNN framework. In order to provide the best possible performance, the technique includes data preparation, feature extraction, and model training. The dimensionality and redundancy are reduced using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). After being trained and tested against other models, the Fully Conditional Temporal Bayesian Network (Fully CTBN) outperformed them all with an accuracy of 93.29%, beating both traditional CNN and FCN approaches. These findings demonstrate that the Fully CTBN approach is useful for identifying students who may be struggling academically and providing schools with the information they need to implement data-driven interventions that boost student well-being and performance. © 2025 IEEE.

Optimization in ad hoc networks is a highly specialized task because the structure of the network is loosely formed, and each node is independently responsible for its operation. In order to obtain a better result from this solely formed networks this report offer extensive Dynamic Topology Management (DTM) method. Dynamic routing protocols lager lines, dividend balancing, Life-saving administration, guarantee of reliability, cross-layer design, security aspects and the on-time monitoring and discovery of topology changes are the main objectives and steps to be accomplished. Real-time Location monitoring and forest structure discovery are made possible by employing adaptive routing protocols, namely Dynamic Source Routing(DSR) and Ad-Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector(AODV). Also, the algorithms are capable of making advance adjustments to routing routes and resource allocations drawn from the mobility patterns forecasting which is vital. Load balancing methods, which distribute traffic in a network evenly, enable the system to run efficiently and avoid problems caused by overloading. Algorithms that are energy-efficient and make the best use of energy resources having their topology's optimized are introduced to the streamlined energy distribution systems. These algorithms are focused on the node's energy level. Through fault tolerance techniques which recognize and handle failures in nodes and partitioned networks, connectedness activity is a continuous one. Through QoS perception, the network topology might automatically be tailored to conform to the given quality criteria, thus not restricting the choice for differing applications. The proposed could have defenses against adversary nodes and their potential DDoS attacks which will enhance network protection. Yet another advantage of an architectural style that promotes cross-layer collaboration is enhanced topology management which is the goal around which the functions of various levels of the protocol stack revolve

AI's revolutionary potential in higher education is examined in this proposal, including how it could revolutionize teaching, learning, administration, and research. Adaptive learning platforms, intelligent tutoring systems, and virtual learning assistants may change how students learn by improving engagement, providing quick feedback, and enabling tailored learning. The suggested process includes preprocessing, feature extraction, and model training. Preprocessing involves de-anonymizing, tokenizing, and removing punctuation, spaces, and numbers before analysis. The linear transformation method PCA extracts features. Training the systems uses the RF -SVM approach, which combines the advantages of RF and SVM. The suggested RF -SVM model beats two RF and SVM models with an average accuracy of 90.39 *** improves resource use, strategic decision-making, and research capacity in university management. The RF-SVM model's success in academia highlights the practicality of AI-driven solutions. © 2025 IEEE.

First-generation electric vehicle (EV) batteries are now retiring from their first life with 70–80%of their initial capacity and are becoming available in the market. To harness the remaining capacity of retired batteries before they reach the end of their life, researchers have proposed various methods, including backup and emergency power supplies for homes, grid-tied stationary energy storage, and storage for renewable energy applications. These applications are collectively termed second-life applications. The first step in utilizing these retired batteries is the selection of healthy cells, as cells in an EV battery pack do not degrade evenly. State-of-the-art cell selection and sorting techniques are either ineffective for industrial-grade applications or highly time-consuming processes. Therefore, this paper proposes a charging voltage relaxation pattern recognition method to efficiently sort healthy cells, powered by data-driven machine learning algorithms. A wide range of battery cycling data collected under different ambient and charging conditions is used for training, testing, and validating the proposed sorting strategy. Furthermore, a comparative analysis is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy compared to state-of-the-art methods.

computer-aided detection of plasmodium malaria on cell images from digital microscopy provides an invaluable second opinion to medical experts. Traditionally, well-established deep learning algorithms are widely used to detect plasmodium, but these techniques have not been deployed due to the uninterpretable nature of the decisions made by the network. To address this, we present an ensemble method that fuses the predictions based on the class activation mapping (CAM) results from multiple networks via a novel selector network. We study the performance on a publicly available dataset of cell images by using three convolutional neural network architectures, Xception, ResNet50, and InceptionV3,to produce CAM results for the selector network and performance comparison. Our proposed approach helps enhance doctors' trust and outperforms the traditional methods by 1%. © 2023 IEEE.
