Mobile Ad-Hoc network is a self-configuring and multi-hop collection of mobile devices for making successful communication. The wireless and mobile communication process are encountered based on bandwidth, process control and energy conception. Energy conception is considered and dynamically changed to rely on life time of batteries and power. The life time of battery get exhausted very quickly the nodes are moved and changed rapidly across the network. This paper noticed the problem of life time of power, batteries and energy consumption problem in various routing stages. The proposed Intelligent Gen Algorithm is used to get optimal solution for ensuring high robustness, flexibility and Energy consumption factor. It presents a common framework to balance various routing requirements in MANETs dynamically. The following are the main contributions includes, i. introducing Intelligent GEN Algorithms to classify the throughout bandwidth, delay, data ratio. ii. Various routing performance are evaluated and viewed by speed, packetize and simulation time. The comparison evaluated by select routing algorithm using NS-2. The simulation results are recorded and the performance is monitored by using on demand access protocl. The result clearly demonstrated the proposed Intelligent Gen algorithm used in self-organized manner by wireless channel. © 2024 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.

As the semiconductor manufacturing technology node scales down in the deep submicron domain, hotspot detection becomes more challenging and geo-contextually dependent than ever before. The need to profile IC layout patterns based on geometrical commonalities becomes a significant demand either during IC layout design or manufacturing phases. Identified hotspots during the manufacturing phase are usually correlated to specific geometrical configurations sensitive to the lithography process or other manufacturing processes. Accordingly, identifying similar geometrical configurations is an important step toward locating potential hotspots. Once these hotspots are identified, their patterns can be provided to the router to avoid using these patterns and find other valid alternatives. Furthermore, in the IC design sign-off phase or Design Rules Check (DRC), layout profiling can identify patterns with high commonalities to these problematic patterns that potentially lead to a yield loss. In this paper, we introduce automated IC layout patterns topological profiling approach using Directional Geometrical Kernels (DGKs) to capture the context of patterns around a Point-Of-Interest (POI) in an IC layout, such as a hotspot. The DGKs pattern representation provides a direct one-to-one mapping with physical geometrical measurements centered by the POI and doesn't need further feature extraction models or maps used by other pixelized gridded image-based or density-based representations, which are both time and computational resources-consuming. The DGKs are decomposed into topological and dimensional components. This makes the mechanism of patterns topological profiling not in need of complex models and can be precisely fine controlled to produce adequate patterns profiling granularity that is not easily approached by other patterns profiling alternatives. © 2023 SPIE.

CAC 2.0: A Corrupt and Correct Logic Locking Technique Resilient to Structural Analysis Attacks

Logic locking proposed to protect integrated circuits from serious hardware threats has been studied extensively over a decade. In these years, many efficient logic locking techniques have been proven to be broken. The state-of-the-art logic locking techniques, including the prominent corrupt and correct (CAC) technique, are resilient to satisfiability (SAT)-based and removal attacks, but vulnerable to structural analysis attacks. To overcome this drawback, this paper introduces an improved version of CAC, called CAC 2.0, which increases the search space of structural analysis attacks using obfuscation. To do so, CAC 2.0 locks the original circuit twice, one after another, on different nodes with different number of protected primary inputs using CAC, while hiding original protected primary inputs among decoy primary inputs. This paper also introduces an open source logic locking tool, called HIID, equipped with well-known techniques including CAC 2.0. Our experiments show that CAC 2.0 is resilient to existing SAT-based, removal, and structural analysis attacks. To achieve this, it increases the number of key inputs at most 4× and the gate-level area between 30.2% and 0.8% on circuits with low and high complexity with respect to CAC. © 2024, CC BY.

Event-based cameras are inspired by the way the retina in the eye process information. Rather than capturing image frames at a constant rate, event cameras generate data asynchronously, based on changes in pixel value between frames. As a result, these cameras have a high spatiotemporal accuracy, low power constraints and reduced artefacts from motion blur. Hence, they represent favourable properties for digitizing highly dynamic manufacturing tasks such as machine vibrations and rapid human assembly actions. However, the costs of event-based cameras are prohibitively high for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs). In this research, we present the development of a rig that combines low-cost visual sensors with low-cost algorithms to perform action recognition for highly dynamic manual manufacturing tasks. We applied our algorithms to achieve an action classification system via a novel threshold-based approach and in parallel use a neural network to perform classification of objects in the video feed. The results achieved demonstrated that our approach was able to successfully identify various rapid manual tasks being performed on identified objects. distributed Denial of services (DDoS) attack is one of the most dangerous attacks that targeted servers. The main consequence of this attack is to prevent users from getting their legitimate services by bringing down targeted victim. CICFlowMeter tool generates bi-directional flows from packets. Each flow generates 83 of different features. The research focuses on 8 features which are active min (f1), active mean (f2), active max (f3), active std (f4), idle min (f5), idle mean (f6), idle max (f7), and idle std (f8). CICFlowMeter tool has several problems that affected on the detection accuracy of DDoS attacks. The idle and active based feature of Shannon entropy and sequential probability ratio test (SE-SPRT) approach was implemented in this research. The problems of original CICFlowMeter were presented, and the differences between original and revised version of CICFlowMeter tool were explored. The DARPA database and confusion matrix were used to evaluate the detection technique and present the comparison between two versions of CICFlowMeter. The detection method detected neptune and smurf attacks and had higher accuracy, f1-score, sensitivity, specificity, and precision when revised version of CICFlowMeter used to generate flows. However, the detection method failed to detect neptune attack and had higher miss-rate, lower accuracy, lower f1-score, and lower specificity, and lower precision when original version used in generating flows. © 2022 IEEE.

Twitter (now X) has been gaining popularity with each passing day since its inception in 2006. People have been using Twitter as an instant repository to collect data and gain insight into folks’ minds on trending issues. Although Twitter allows access to its data through streaming and rest APIs, extracting the required data is difficult. The data (tweet) returned by Twitter is in .json format, having at least 26 fields. Each field is bundled in the dictionary form data structure. tweet metadata such as tweet “likes” and “retweets” increase the volume and complexity of a tweet, making data extraction in a cleaner format more difficult. This work aims to develop an effective two-step tweet extractor (Xtractor: an online-offline keyword-based Twitter data extractor). In the first step, Xtractor collects publicly available topical tweets using keywords, hashtags, or their list on the fly, parses all the tweet fields, and filters them to retain potential field contents without additional payload. The second step of the Xtractor evicts partially matching tweets using the regular expression method to acquire the targeted domain-specific tweets. Using the proposed two-step Twitter data extraction method, datasets concerning the people of Pakistan have been collected, which can be leveraged to get insight for decision-making, specially in the context of sentiment analysis. We found this method efficient, capacitive, and productive.

WIP: An Engaging Undergraduate Intro to Model Checking in software engineering Using TLA+

Background: In this Innovative Practice Work in Progress, we present our initial efforts to integrate formal methods, with a focus on model-checking specifications written in Temporal Logic of Actions (TLA+), into computer science education, targeting undergraduate juniors/seniors and graduate students. Many safety-critical systems and services crucially depend on correct and reliable behavior. Formal methods can play a key role in ensuring correct and safe system behavior, yet remain underutilized in educational and industry contexts. Aims: We aim to (1) qualitatively assess the state of formal methods in computer science programs, (2) construct level-appropriate examples that could be included midway into one’s undergraduate studies, (3) demonstrate how to address successive "failures" through progressively stringent safety and liveness requirements, and (4) establish an ongoing framework for assessing interest and relevance among students. Methods: We detail our pedagogical strategy for embedding TLA+ into an intermediate course on formal methods at our institution. After starting with a refresher on mathematical logic, students specify the rules of simple puzzles in TLA+ and use its included model checker (known as TLC) to find a solution. We gradually escalate to more complex, dynamic, event-driven systems, such as the control logic of a microwave oven, where students will study safety and liveness requirements. We subsequently discuss explicit concurrency, along with thread safety and deadlock avoidance, by modeling bounded counters and buffers. Results: Our initial findings suggest that through careful curricular design and choice of examples and tools, it is possible to inspire and cultivate a new generation of software engineers proficient in formal methods. Conclusions: Our initial efforts suggest that 84% of our students had a positive experience in our formal methods course. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) and Edge Robotics have recently emerged as transformative technologies, revolutionizing industries by enabling real-time processing, decision-making, and automation at the network edge. However, the dynamicity induced by the system’s conditions and specifically the mobility poses a challenge for optimally deciding where to execute a given computational task. As a response, we develop an intelligent algorithm for dynamic sensor task offloading tailored to the unique requirements of MEC-enabled robotic environments. Specifically, we first introduce the environmental dynamics including a sensor task’s end-to-end delay and the robots’ mobility and energy consumption and provide mathematical formulations to model these dynamics. Then, we mathematically formulate the optimization problem and its MDP counterpart and we propose a Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL)-based computational offloading strategy to jointly optimize Quality of Service (QoS) and energy consumption through robot trajectory planning and fine-grained task allocation. Through hand-picked representative simulation scenarios, we demonstrate the superiority of our proposed mechanism in enhancing the overall system performance, specifically in optimizing task execution, reducing energy consumption, and mitigating transmission delays, compared to various baseline approaches.
