In today's world, cardiovascular disease is still a major concern. The electrocardiogram (ECG) is one of the most trustworthy non-invasive tools for identifying heart problems. ECG interpretation, however, takes a lot of effort and specialized knowledge. The quality and effectiveness of medical care are enhanced by the development of a revolutionary technique for early disease detection. Using a public dataset of ECG scans from cardiac patients, this study leveraged deep learning algorithms to predict two primary cardiac abnormalities: abnormal heartbeat and normal person classes. The low-scale pre-trained deep neural Alex Net was used to study the transfer learning process. To forecast cardiac issues, a novel Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architecture was put out. We used the conventional deep learning methods, VGG-16, Resnet50, RNN, and LSTM, to feature-extracted data utilizing the previously mentioned pre-trained models and our suggested LSTM model. The experimental results show that the LSTM model outperforms the previous attempts in terms of performance measures.

A major challenge in daily automotive use is the high incidence of car accidents, primarily attributed to human errors. This paper introduces Brain-Brake, an innovative brain-operated advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) designed for collision avoidance. Utilizing electroencephalography (EEG) signals, Brain-Brake detects a driver's braking intention faster than traditional methods, addressing critical reaction time delays. It integrates a computer vision module that measures the proximity of objects to the vehicle, complementing the EEG- based intention detection for enhanced reliability. Implemented on embedded chips using the AUTOSAR framework, preliminary results indicate a significant reduction in reaction times during emergency braking scenarios, highlighting the system's potential to enhance road safety significantly.

Code representation learning is an important way to encode the semantics of source code through pre-training. The learned representation supports a variety of downstream tasks, such as natural language code search and code defect detection. Inspired by pre-trained models for natural language representation learning, existing approaches often treat the source code or its structural information (e.g., Abstract Syntax Tree or AST) as a plain token sequence. Unlike natural language, programming language has its unique code unit information (e.g., identifiers and expressions) and logic information (e.g., the functionality of a code snippet). To further explore those properties, we propose Abstract Code Embedding (AbCE), a self-supervised learning method that considers the abstract semantics of code logic. Instead of scattered tokens, AbCE treats an entire node or a subtree in an AST as a basic code unit during pre-training, which preserves the entirety of a coding unit. Moreover, AbCE learns the abstract semantics of AST nodes via a self-distillation way. Experimental results show that it achieves significant improvements over state-of-the-art baselines on code search tasks and comparable performance on code clone detection and defect detection tasks even without using contrastive learning or curriculum learning.

Intrusion detection is crucial for securing IoT networks amid the rapid proliferation of devices, posing significant security challenges. This study offers a unique intrusion detection model for IoT deep learning methods used in networks include Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), TabNet, and the Transient Search Optimization (TSO) method. The project starts by developing and evaluating distinct intrusion detection components. CNN, specializing in feature extraction, analyzes network traffic for potential intrusions. TabNet, known for interpretability and effectiveness with structured data, captures intricate relationships. The novel TSO algorithm improves the system's ability to detect temporary anomalies. Each component's performance is assessed individually, highlighting unique strengths. TabNet excels in structured IoT data pattern identification, surpassing CNN. The TSO algorithm strengthens temporary anomaly recognition, enhancing IoT network security. An ensemble technique combines CNN and TabNet predictions, reducing false positives and negatives to elevate overall detection accuracy. The ensemble, using both CNN and TabNet, achieves an impressive accuracy rate exceeding 99%, demonstrating significant gains in intrusion detection performance.

Domain shift is a formidable issue in Machine Learning that causes a model to suffer from performance degradation when tested on unseen domains. Federated Domain Generalization (FedDG) attempts to train a global model using collaborative clients in a privacy-preserving manner that can generalize well to unseen clients possibly with domain shift. However, most existing FedDG methods either cause additional privacy risks of data leakage or induce significant costs in client communication and computation, which are major concerns in the Federated Learning paradigm. To circumvent these challenges, here we introduce a novel architectural method for FedDG, namely gPerXAN 1, which relies on a normalization scheme working with a guiding regularizer. In particular, we carefully design Personalized eXplicitly Assembled Normalization to enforce client models selectively filtering domain-specific features that are biased towards local data while retaining discrimination of those features. Then, we incorporate a simple yet effective regularizer to guide these models in directly capturing domain-invariant representations that the global model’s classifier can leverage. Extensive experimental results on two benchmark datasets, i.e., PACS and Office-Home, and a real-world medical dataset, Camelyon17, indicate that our proposed method outperforms other existing methods in addressing this particular problem. © 2024, CC BY.

System-Level Test (SLT) has been an integral part of integrated circuit test flows for over a decade and continues to be significant. Nevertheless, there is a lack of systematic approaches for generating test programs, specifically focusing on the non-functional aspects of the Device under Test (DUT). Currently, test engineers manually create test suites using commercially available software to simulate the end-user environment of the DUT. This process is challenging and laborious and does not assure adequate control over non-functional properties. This paper proposes to use Large Language Models (LLMs) for SLT program generation. We use a pre-trained LLM and fine-tune it to generate test programs that optimize non-functional properties of the DUT, e.g., instructions per cycle. Therefore, we use Gem5, a microarchitectural simulator, in conjunction with Reinforcement Learning-based training. Finally, we write a prompt to generate C code snippets that maximize the instructions per cycle of the given architecture. In addition, we apply hyperparameter optimization to achieve the best possible results in inference.

In this paper, we propose a multi-input multi-output controller for optimal control of nonlinear energy storage, using deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm. This controller provides the frequency support in an isolated microgrid with high penetration of variable renewable energy sources and varying system inertia. To achieve an optimal control we redesigned neural network of actor and critic, simplified deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) rules, and reorganized the reward/punishment system. Simulation results show the efficiency of the proposed virtual inertia control architecture in several scenarios. © 2022 IEEE.

Due to their stochastic nature, the increase of Renewable Energy Resources as primary sources of energy for power grids creates challenges regarding the reliability and resilience of the system. In order to combat these obstacles, expansion of distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and their participation in grid services is necessary. Widespread participation requires prioritizing customer privacy and addressing concerns that may arise regarding communication between DERs and Grid Service Providers. Obtaining detailed information about customers’ power consumption can lead to privacy risks that may prevent users from willingly participating in services. Anonymization of individual data is one method of privacy protection that should be explored. This paper discusses the use of the IEEE 2030.5 [1] flow reservation resources to split the operating cycles of DER load profiles into unique phases. The splitting of phases increases anonymization of DERs by making it more difficult to determine the individual characteristics of each device. We discuss the results of applying this form of anonymization to a set of simulated DER load profiles and examine the effectiveness of the anonymization through the use of a linear Support Vector Machine classifier.

The security of computer networks is increasingly difficult to maintain due to the rising complexity and frequency of cyber-attacks. Important tools for finding and neutralizing these dangers are intrusion detection systems. This study sets out to do a thorough examination and comparison of the efficacy of several machine learning algorithms for use in intrusion detection. This research study evaluates the efficacy of several machine learning algorithms in correctly categorizing instances of network traffic as normal or invasive via extensive experiments performed on representative datasets. Algorithms like random forests, decision trees, SVMs, DL models and NNs are all being tested and rated. Effectiveness is measured and compared using a variety of performance indicators including accuracy, recall, precision, false positive rate, and F1-score. The results of this study emphasize the potential of deep learning models and Random Forests for use in intrusion detection and add to the body of knowledge around machine learning methods for this task. Professionals in the field of network security might use the results to their advantage when building intrusion detection systems. Future research areas are also mentioned, which will hopefully lead to even greater improvements in the field and safer, more reliable intrusion detection systems. © 2023 IEEE.

System-Level Test (SLT) is essential for testing integrated circuits, focusing on functional and non-functional properties of the Device under Test (DUT). Traditionally, test engineers manually create tests with commercial software to simulate the DUT's end-user environment. This process is both time-consuming and offers limited control over non-functional properties. This paper proposes Large Language Models (LLMs) enhanced by Structural Chain of Thought (SCoT) prompting, a temperature schedule, and a pool of previously generated snippets to generate high-quality code snippets for SLT. We repeatedly query the LLM for a better snippet using previously generated snippets as examples, thus creating an iterative optimization loop. This approach can automatically generate snippets for SLT that target specific non-functional properties, reducing time and effort. Our findings show that this approach improves the quality of the generated snippets compared to unstructured prompts containing only a task description.
