Revisiting the LQR Problem of Singular systems

In the development of linear quadratic regulator(LQR) algorithms, the Riccati equation approach offers two important characteristics——it is recursive and readily meets the existence condition. However, these attributes are applicable only to transformed singular systems, and the efficiency of the regulator may be undermined if constraints are violated in nonsingular versions. To address this gap, we introduce a direct approach to the LQR problem for linear singular systems, avoiding the need for any transformations and eliminating the need for regularity assumptions. To achieve this goal, we begin by formulating a quadratic cost function to derive the LQR algorithm through a penalized and weighted regression framework and then connect it to a constrained minimization problem using the Bellman's criterion. Then, we employ a dynamic programming strategy in a backward approach within a finite horizon to develop an LQR algorithm for the original system. To accomplish this, we address the stability and convergence analysis under the reachability and observability assumptions of a hypothetical system constructed by the pencil of augmented matrices and connected using the Hamiltonian diagonalization technique.

An Intelligent Privacy Protection Scheme for Efficient Edge Computation Offloading in IoV

As a pivotal enabler of intelligent transportation system(ITS), Internet of vehicles(Io V) has aroused extensive attention from academia and industry. The exponential growth of computation-intensive, latency-sensitive,and privacy-aware vehicular applications in Io V result in the transformation from cloud computing to edge computing,which enables tasks to be offloaded to edge nodes(ENs) closer to vehicles for efficient execution. In ITS environment,however, due to dynamic and stochastic computation offloading requests, it is challenging to efficiently orchestrate offloading decisions for application requirements. How to accomplish complex computation offloading of vehicles while ensuring data privacy remains challenging. In this paper, we propose an intelligent computation offloading with privacy protection scheme, named COPP. In particular, an Advanced Encryption Standard-based encryption method is utilized to implement privacy protection. Furthermore, an online offloading scheme is proposed to find optimal offloading policies. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that COPP significantly outperforms benchmark schemes in the performance of both delay and energy consumption.

Smart control techniques have been implemented to address fluctuating power levels within isolated crogrids,mi-mitigating the risk of unstable frequencies and the potential degradation of power supply ***,a challenge lies in the fact that employing these computationally complex methods without stability preservation might not suffice to handle the rapid changes of this highly dynamic environment in real-world scenarios over communication *** study introduces a flexible real-time approach for the frequency control problem using an artificial neural network(ANN)constrained to stabilized *** solution integrates stabilizing PID controllers,computed through small-signal analysis and tuned via an automated search for optimal ANN weights and reinforcement learning(RL)-based selected ***,we design stabilizing PID controllers by applying the stability boundary locus method and the Mikhailov criterion,specifically addressing communication ***,we refine the controller parameters online through an automated process that identifies optimal coefficient combinations,leveraging a constrained ANN to manage frequency deviations within a restricted parameter *** approach is further enhanced by employing the RL technique,which trains the tuning system using an interpolated stability boundary curve to ensure both stability and *** one-of-a-kind combination of ANN,RL,and advanced PID tuning methods is a big step forward in how we handle frequency control problems in isolated AC *** experiments show that our solution outperforms traditional methods due to its reduced parameter search *** particular,the proposed method reduces transient and steady-state frequency deviations more than semi-and unconstrained *** improved metrics and stability analysis show that the method improves system performance and stability under changing conditions.

Leveraging the Potential of Large Language Models

This study focuses on enhancing Natural Language Processing (NLP) in generative AI chatbots through the utilization of advanced pre-trained models. We assessed five distinct Large Language Models (LLMs): TRANSFORMER MODEL, FALCON 7B, LAMINI-FLAN-T5-783M, LLAMA-2-7B, and LLAMA-2-13B to identify the most effective one. Our findings revealed that the LLAMA Model excels in comprehending user queries and delivering precise responses during conversations. The article elucidates the methodology employed to evaluate and select various models for our chatbot. Through rigorous testing, we determined that the LLAMA-2-13B model exhibits enhanced response time and accuracy. Additionally, we employed tools such as Facebook Artificial Intelligence Similarity Search (FAISS) and experimented with user interfaces like Streamlit and Chainlit to enhance the chatbot's user-friendliness. The research underscores the significance of selecting the appropriate model for crafting efficient chatbots. Ultimately, the LLAMA-13B model emerged as the standout performer, showcasing superior performance. Benchmark assessments, including HellaSwag and WinoGrande, which gauge common sense reasoning, were employed to evaluate our chatbot's capabilities. The study concludes that LLAMA-based models hold significant promise for the development of innovative and user-friendly chatbots in the future. Povzetek: Študija se osredotoča na izboljšanje obdelave naravnega jezika (NLP) v generativnih AI klepetalnicah z uporabo naprednih vnaprej usposobljenih modelov. Analizirali so pet modelov: TRANSFORMER MODEL, FALCON 7B, LAMINI-FLAN-T5-783M, LLAMA-2-7B in LLAMA-2-13B. Model LLAMA-13B se je izkazal kot najboljši z vrhunskimi rezultati na testih HellaSwag in WinoGrande. Kazakhstan's deputy member is vast, and is one of sparse population, scattering and creating an overwhelming challenge to map and assess the water resources. Most of the waters are in remote and poorly equipped areas, making their monitoring by conventional means arduous. This includes costly and inefficient monitoring that results in a blurred condition of the water resources. Such a predicament stands in the way of effective management and decision-making regarding water resources. Therefore, we used Sentinel-3 satellite images to assess the spatiotemporal dynamics of water resources in Kazakhstan and obtained the results through GIS analysis. The main case of the region for case studies reflecting problems in the management of water resources in the country is the northern part of the Aral Sea. It presents a study characterized by in-depth data analysis and mapping that provided insight into the spatial trends of water resources, their variability, and potential areas of concern. The present research found that GIS and remote sensing technologies have emerged as a strong water resource observation platform. They show promise in the resource sector decision support. The development thus justifies the integration of these technology tools within the water resource management practices to ensure sustainable water use in Kazakhstan. The publication has equally availed a model for similarly water-stressed regions regarding technology-driven solutions in matters of environmental sustainability and resource management. © 2024 IEEE.

Fog computing is a key enabling technology of 6G systems as it provides quick and reliable computing,and data storage services which are required for several 6G *** Intelligence(AI)algorithms will be an integral part of 6G systems and efficient task offloading techniques using fog computing will improve their performance and *** this paper,the focus is on the scenario of Partial Offloading of a Task to Multiple Helpers(POMH)in which larger tasks are divided into smaller subtasks and processed in parallel,hence expediting task ***,using POMH presents challenges such as breaking tasks into subtasks and scaling these subtasks based on many interdependent factors to ensure that all subtasks of a task finish simultaneously,preventing resource ***,applying matching theory to POMH scenarios results in dynamic preference profiles of helping devices due to changing subtask sizes,resulting in a difficult-to-solve,externalities *** paper introduces a novel many-to-one matching-based algorithm,designed to address the externalities problem and optimize resource allocation within POMH ***,we propose a new time-efficient preference profiling technique that further enhances time optimization in POMH *** performance of the proposed technique is thoroughly evaluated in comparison to alternate baseline schemes,revealing many advantages of the proposed *** simulation findings indisputably show that the proposed matching-based offloading technique outperforms existing methodologies in the literature,yielding a remarkable 52 reduction in task latency,particularly under high workloads.

The methodologies based on neural networks are substantial to accomplish sentiment analysis in the Social Internet of Things (SIoT). With social media sentiment analysis, significant insights can produce efficient and intelligent applications. Neural networks such as recurrent neural networks (RNNs) and convolution neural networks (CNNs) have been considered widely in many text classification tasks. However, RNNs are computationally expensive and require complex training to capture contextual information and long-term dependencies. Similarly, traditional CNNs must stack multiple convolutional layers, requiring massive computations and additional parameters. To address these problems, this work initialized the novel architecture, in which contextual representations (CRs) based on the textual framework are proposed at the initial step. In CRs, state-of-the-art word representation models, such as GloVe (global vectors) and FastText (subword information), collectively produce word representations upon the input sequence using a weight mechanism. Secondly, a unique way is introduced: a three-parallel layered dilated convolutional network with global mean pooling. The experimental results show that the proposed methods when compared with baseline methods, the dilation in CNNs following CRs significantly increases the accuracy from 72.45 to 98.98% and reduces computational resources. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Design of a ML-based trust prediction model using intelligent TrustBoxes in challenged networks

Challenged networks (CNs) contain resource-constrained nodes deployed in regions where human intervention is difficult. Opportunistic networks (OppNets) are CNs with no predefined source-to-destination paths. Due to their inherent properties, CNs and OppNets are highly susceptible to black-hole (BH) attacks, resulting in degraded packet-delivery ratio. In this work, an ML-based trust prediction model (MLTPM) is proposed to identify potential BH nodes in OppNets. MLTPM uses a novel function to calculate the total-trust-value (TTV) of each node. Intelligent TrustBoxes are introduced in the network to identify possible BH nodes, using TTV, along with five more node-behaviour features. TrustBoxes reduce the computational overhead of the resource-constrained nodes. Three simulated scenarios are compared - no detection, non-ML-based detection, and MLTPM, each using epidemic, prophet, and spray-and-wait routing protocols. MLTPM performs best with spray-and-wait, exhibiting about 25.21% and 80% mean improvement in delivery-ratio and dropped-message numbers respectively, compared to non-ML-based detection. An overall 12.62% improvement in delivery-ratio and 26.7% improvement in dropped messages is observed using MLTPM, compared to the above-mentioned scenarios. © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Tracking daily paths in home contexts with RSSI fingerprinting based on UWB through deep learning models

The field of human activity recognition has evolved significantly, driven largely by advancements in Internet of Things (IoT) device technology, particularly in personal devices. This study investigates the use of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for tracking inhabitant paths in home environments using deep learning models. UWB technology estimates user locations via time-of-flight and time-difference-of-arrival methods, which are significantly affected by the presence of walls and obstacles in real environments, reducing their precision. To address these challenges, we propose a fingerprinting-based approach utilizing received signal strength indicator (RSSI) data collected from inhabitants in two flats (60 m2 and 100 m2) while performing daily activities. We compare the performance of convolutional neural network (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), and hybrid CNN+LSTM models, as well as the use of Bluetooth technology. Additionally, we evaluate the impact of the type and duration of the temporal window (future, past, or a combination of both). Our results demonstrate a mean absolute error close to 50 cm, highlighting the superiority of the hybrid model in providing accurate location estimates, thus facilitating its application in daily human activity recognition in residential settings. © The Author(s) 2024.
