It is generally known that compared to unimodal systems, the multi-modal biometric systems can improve recognition accuracy by utilizing the complementary features of multiple biometric. Nevertheless, the modalities used may not always play equally important roles in multi-modal recognition. Especially, in practical application scenarios, it often occurs that some of the biometric samples are contaminated by noise and corruption. In this context, the multi-modal recognition systems should pay more attention to the high-quality modality than the ones with low-quality samples, so as to maintain high accuracy. In this paper, we proposes a multi-branch deep learning network for multi-modal recognition, each branch using one biometric sample as input. To highlight the more important biometric modalities, we propose to embed a branch attention module between branches before multi-modal feature fusion. The branch attention module includes fuse, select, and calibrate steps, which can dynamically calculate the weight of each branch based on its importance. The proposed multi-modal recognition model is tested on a chimeric bimodal dataset with the face and the ear modalities. Our proposed method still achieves 92.76% of rank-1 on the most contaminated dataset;the rest of the experimental results are shown in the Experiment and Performance Analysis section. Our experimental results clearly demonstrate that the proposed branch attention method can improve the multi-modal recognition performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Under the influence of information, network and intelligent high-speed development situation, China's intelligent technology and other aspects have made great progress and achievements, derived a lot of advanced artificial intelligence technology, machine learning technology and deep learning technology, etc., to promote the development of intelligence and information in major fields. Artificial intelligence deep learning is the fusion of artificial intelligence technology and machine learning technology, which lays the foundation for the reform and innovation of artificial voice intelligent recognition technology and intelligent robot technology. So in order to improve the application level of intelligent speech recognition technology, it is necessary to continuously optimize the speech recognition method based on AI deep learning. In this regard, according to the relevant literature, this paper addresses the problem that phoneme features of varying duration are generated during the propagation of speech signals, and these features affect the correct rate of speech recognition, and the phoneme features of different lengths are standardized based on the deep learning research mentioned in this paper with BLSTM-CTC as an example. By evaluating the model on the Thchs30 and ST-CMDS datasets, the results show that the MCFN-based BLSTM-CTC speech recognition model has a reduced recognition word error rate compared with the traditional speech recognition model. © 2023 ACM.

This study examines the efficacy of machine learning techniques, particularly Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), and Random Forest and in forecasting Nigeria's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Traditional statistical methods frequently fail to capture intricate, nonlinear relationships, thus necessitating advanced techniques. The dataset employed in this research encompasses 22 instances from 2000 to 2021. It includes variables such as GDP, healthcare expenditure, population, and the index of economic freedom obtained from the World Bank as well as the Nigerian Perceptions Index for corruption. The data was prepared to undergo training and testing following the CRISP-DM methodology. The models were trained and evaluated using a five-member cross-validation method. Performance metrics indicated that MLP outperformed Random Forest, with MAE values of 16.8228 and 25.3074 and RMSE values of 23.2111 and 33.2027, respectively. These findings suggest that MLP offers more accurate GDP predictions for Nigeria, effectively managing complex data relationships. This study provides valuable insights for enhancing predictive accuracy and supporting more effective economic planning and decision-making. © 2024 IEEE.

Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE) emerged as an innovative and patient-centric approach for non-invasive and painless examination of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It serves as a pivotal tool in helping medical practitioners in the early detection of anomalies within the intricate domain of the human GI tract. The automated identification of aberrations assumes paramount significance, contributing not only to temporal efficiency but also to timely diagnosis. Within the realm of academic literature, a plethora of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies have been proposed to effectuate the automatic classification, segmentation, and synthesis of anomalies inherent in WCE images. This scholarly endeavor undertakes a comprehensive and meticulous survey, elucidating the spectrum of anomaly classification, summarization, and detection techniques harnessed for computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) in the context of WCE images. The survey begins by delineating the methodologies underpinning WCE image classification and video processing. Subsequently, an exhaustive evaluation of techniques for analyzing WCE images is furnished, accompanied by an in-depth exploration of pertinent surveys, in addition to a judicious assessment of their merits and demerits. Furthermore, this study undertakes a rigorous evaluation of prevailing datasets utilized to benchmark the efficacy of various WCE techniques. Internet of Things, edge computing devices, the widespread use of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, and the extensive adoption of cloud computing pose significant challenges to maintaining fault tolerance in distributed systems. As the volume and complexity of systems continue to grow, the probability of system failures also grows, leading to downtime and poor performance. Fault tolerance is pivotal in modern computing systems by preventing downtime and service disruptions, even during failures. However, adopting fault tolerance comes with additional resource consumption, such as memory, CPU, disk, and network bandwidth usage, impacting system performance. Balancing fault tolerance with system performance is crucial to optimize resource utilization while minimizing the costs associated with detecting and recovering from faults. This paper introduces a node-to-node fault tolerance coordination mechanism for distributed systems to facilitate the tradeoff between fault tolerance and the cost of performance penalties and resource consumption. The proposed mechanism is preliminarily implemented on HDFS cluster. Our proposal enables opportunities to minimize the cost of the fault tolerance impact on performance and resource usage compared to the existing fault tolerance coordination mechanism. © 2023 IEEE.

Accurate continuous blood glucose prediction is an effective and direct method for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus. However, current methods are commonly single-domain single-scale blood glucose prediction models. That is, they only learn time correlations within constant time steps of continuous blood glucose data, to mine fluctuation patterns, which limits the model effectiveness and robustness. To this end, a novel dynamic-static feature fusion with multi-scale attention method (DSfusion) is proposed for accurately predicting continuous blood glucose. Specifically, DSfusion designs the cross-domain complementary augmentation via Fourier cycle transformation for learning inherent frequency features. Then, DSfusion devises the multi-scale dependence aggregation based on the attention mechanism with various scale receptive fields to capture time correlations and feature correlations across different time steps. Meanwhile, DSfusion utilizes the static feature enhancement to integrate multi-domain information, i.e., static and dynamic features, into a unified prediction architecture, which greatly boosts the model performance. Finally, comprehensive experiments are performed on the real-world blood glucose dataset, and the results confirm the excellence of DSfusion. © 2025 IEEE.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common endocrine-metabolic disorder affecting about 10-13% of women during reproductive age worldwide, often leads to irregular menstruation, infertility, obesity, and long-term health risks such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In this paper, clinical data from PCOS patients and healthy control group were collected from ten hospitals containing 37 key indicators such as age, weight, BMI, menstrual cycle, etc. BP (Back Propagation) Neural Network prediction models were constructed and compared using the collected data and the cross-validation method was used for parameter tuning. It was found that BP Neural Network performed particularly well on the test set, and both demonstrated high prediction accuracy and generalization ability which provided strong evidence for the early identification and early valuable intervention opportunities for PCOS patients. © 2025 IEEE.

Frequently, individuals undergo specific episodes of mental health challenges throughout their lifetime. But the COVID pandemic has triggered a surge in mental health disorders arising from isolation, monotonous routines, demanding workloads, financial disparities, and disruptions to daily schedules. Furthermore, the global pandemic has induced constant anxiety and stress. Beyond the pandemic, the competition and intense pressure of the modern world impact mental health. Access to advanced mental health solutions and the necessary familiarity remain limited for most of the population. Given the integration of technology into daily life, diverse remedies, including mobile and web applications, have emerged to tackle the escalating challenge of mental health disorders. This study proposes an accessible and cost-effective approach that employs machine learning to detect stress levels and discern user emotions from journal entries and facial expressions while integrating self-journaling, video recommendations, and visual content generation to stimulate positive emotions and relieve stress. © 2023 IEEE.

Many studies show that bearings are the most vulnerable components in low-voltage motors. While advanced bearing diagnostic systems exist, their cost can be a barrier for non-critical machinery due to the potential wait time to see a return on investment. This research explores the feasibility of using basic signal processing techniques on vibration data for bearing condition monitoring. The primary goal is to analyze benchmark data from the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) dataset and establish a baseline performance for this data-driven approach. The results suggest that, with appropriate signal processing, it's possible to achieve early detection of bearing faults, leading to more efficient time-To-fault identification with higher detection accuracies ranging from 83 % to 100 % for each method. © 2024 IEEE.
