Real-Time Compressed Sensing for Joint Hyperspectral Image Transmission and Restoration for CubeSat

This article addresses the challenges associated with hyperspectral image (HSI) reconstruction from miniaturized satellites, which often suffer from stripe effects and are computationally resource-limited. We propose a real-time compressed sensing (RTCS) network designed to be lightweight and require only relatively few training samples for efficient and robust HSI reconstruction in the presence of the stripe effect and under noisy transmission conditions. The RTCS network features a simplified architecture that reduces the required training samples and allows for easy implementation on integer-8-based encoders, facilitating rapid compressed sensing for stripe-like HSI, which exactly matches the moderate design of miniaturized satellites on push broom scanning mechanism. This contrasts optimization-based models that demand high-precision floating-point operations, making them difficult to deploy on edge devices. Our encoder employs an integer-8-compatible linear projection for stripe-like HSI data transmission, ensuring RTCS. Furthermore, based on the novel two-streamed architecture, an efficient HSI restoration decoder is proposed for the receiver side, allowing for edge-device reconstruction without needing a sophisticated central server. This is particularly crucial as an increasing number of miniaturized satellites necessitates significant computing resources on the ground station. Extensive experiments validate the superior performance of our approach, offering new and vital capabilities for existing miniaturized satellite systems. © 1980-2012 IEEE.

Biomedical Named Entity Recognition (BioNER) plays a crucial role in automatically identifying specific categories of entities from biomedical texts. Currently, region-based methods have shown promising performance in BioNER. However, existing paradigms in the region-based methods suffer from inherent limitations, including the generation of negative samples, and the ignorance of token dependencies. To overcome these limitations, we propose a new paradigm, implemented as Token Cascade Tagger (TCT), which combines span identification and category classification. The TCT utilizes category information to enhance the correlation between the heads and tails of entities, effectively reducing the generation of negative samples. Additionally, we introduce a Token Dependency Tagger (TDT) that captures token dependencies within entity spans by identifying the longest span in a sentence. The TDT filters out incorrect spans and further improves the accuracy of span detection obtained from the TCT. Furthermore, we employ a multi-task learning framework to optimize both the TCT and TDT, leading to superior performance in BioNER. Extensive experiments on publicly available biomedical datasets demonstrate our method outperforms the previous state-of-the-art methods, achieving 92.44%, 92.54%, and 81.26% on NCBI-Disease, BC5CDR, and GENIA, respectively, in terms of F1 score. © 2024 The Authors.

In banking, maintaining customer retention and customer satisfaction are important. Effective customer segmentation can be a strategic tool to improve customer loyalty and business performance. This research can assist banks in developing marketing strategies to retain customers and improve services based on bill payment transactions. The data that will be used in this study is bill payment transaction data at regional banks in 2023, as for the types of bill payments made by customers, namely electricity, water, telephone payments, and internet bills. The amount of data used is 702,174 rows. This research uses K-Means clustering to group customers based on recency (the last time the customer made a transaction), frequency (the number of customers making transactions), monetary (the nominal amount of money spent by the customer), variety (the number of types of bills paid) and duration (the average duration of time the customer makes the previous transaction until the next transaction) (RFMVD). The results of customer segmentation based on recency, frequency, monetary, variety and duration using K-Means clustering produce 3 customer groups, namely passive customers, loyal customers, and VIP customers. The silhouette score value on customer segmentation using K-Means clustering is 0.7303, which indicates that the grouping is quite good and the number of clusters is correct. © 2024 IEEE.

This work studies embedding of arbitrary VC classes in well-behaved VC classes, focusing particularly on extremal classes. Our main result expresses an impossibility: such embeddings necessarily require a significant increase in dimension. In particular, we prove that for every d there is a class with VC dimension d that cannot be embedded in any extremal class of VC dimension smaller than exponential in d. In addition to its independent interest, this result has an important implication in learning theory, as it reveals a fundamental limitation of one of the most extensively studied approaches to tackling the long-standing sample compression conjecture (Warmuth, 2003). Concretely, the approach proposed by Floyd and Warmuth (1995) entails embedding any given VC class into an extremal class of a comparable dimension, and then applying an optimal sample compression scheme for extremal classes. However, our results imply that this strategy would in some cases result in a sample compression scheme at least exponentially larger than what is predicted by the sample compression conjecture. The above implications follow from a general result we prove: any extremal class with VC dimension d has dual VC dimension at most 2d + 1. This bound is exponentially smaller than the classical bound 2d+1-1 of Assouad (1983), which applies to general concept classes (and is known to be unimprovable for some classes). We in fact prove a stronger result, establishing that 2d + 1 upper bounds the dual Radon number of extremal classes. This theorem represents an abstraction of the classical Radon theorem for convex sets, extending its applicability to a wider combinatorial framework, without relying on the specifics of Euclidean convexity. There are many cases where borrowed money by debtors is not returned. It is because the company misjudged in determining the risk of lending. Thus, debtors cannot repay their debts and end up in losses on the company's side. Thus, this research aims to create an accurate classification model for determining loan risk categories to minimize business losses. We used the public dataset from kaggle website. Then we perform several data transformation and analysis methods are performed to obtain information from the data. We built 2 classification models to predict the original label. Unfortunately, the desired results did not achieve based on the f1-score. Therefore, the clustering method using K-Means is applied to make a new label for the dataset and determine the behavior of each cluster. Each cluster is labeled then build a model to perform cluster classification. We created several classification models and found that gradient tree boosting is the most accurate predictor of the loan risk category based on the accuracy. We used clustering to create a classification model that can have high accuracy. The classification model we built can have high accuracy because it uses clustering. The empirical results of this study and others pave the way for further in-depth future work to guarantee that the algorithm performs acceptably when confronted with more complicated real data. © 2023 IEEE.

Polyp is an earlier stage of cancer development in gastro-intestinal tract. Despite the fact that numerous techniques for automatic segmentation and detection of polyps have been developed, it still remains an open problem. Examining color images captured by the board camera in endoscopy is contemplated the most reliable method for detectingdeveloping polyps. To automate this process, in this paper we present a modified U-Net Neural Network based algorithm. This algorithm is a binary classifier which labels the pixels as part of the polyp or not. This model can analyze the video of GItract frame by frame and produce the collection of frames with possibility of presence of polyp thus reducing the time required to process the GI-tract. Detecting, localizing, and segmenting polyps using Kvasir-SEG, an open-access dataset of colonoscopy images, we benchmark various modern day approaches in this work, assessing bothmethod speed and accuracy. This is attributed to outstanding performance of image classification compared to preceding techniques. The automatically identifying polyps serves to aid gastroenterologists during colonoscopies. While existing literature contains publications addressing the challenge of polyp detection, many of these systems remain confined toresearch settings and lack implementation for clinical use. Hence, we present the inaugural fully open-source automated polyp detection system, which not only outperforms the best- performing system documented in the literature but is also prepared for immediate clinical application. © 2024 IEEE.

Diabetic Retinopathy stands out as one of the common retinal diseases which has a significant threat to vision and can lead to blindness. Several problems occurred due to DR can be stopped by controlling blood glucose and timely treatment, but the manual assessment of retinal images is often a lengthy process and can prevail human errors. This paper attempts in the direction of finding an automated way to classify the set of retinal images. The study starts with the collection of retinal images and pre- processing them, followed by training of a CNN model, Utilizing Deep Learning methodologies, CNN classifies the degree of diabetic retinopathy (DR) into four categories: 0 (no DR) to 4 (proliferative DR). We evaluate our model's performance using a diverse dataset. We use Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) strength to DR detection, which involves three major difficulties: Classification, Segmentation and Detection. We work towards developing a GUI based system to store and maintain a series of predictions with the patient's id and name. Twilio API have been used to make SMS connectivity to patients possible in case they are not accessible. Many research activities in the previous years have many limitations and disadvantages like models used other than Resnet have low accuracy, not capturing intricate features and patterns in images, Vanishing Gradient Descent and low performance for image classification. Resnet models that are previously used in DR detection with Resnet152, we can conclude that it has the lowest Training loss, lowest Test loss and it has the lowest loss Difference. We have worked on a RESNET-152 pre-trained deep learning model, which consists of thousands of layers and allows for the capturing of intricate features, high performance of image classification, and high accuracy, in order to overcome the issues and limitations of earlier developed models. © 2024 IEEE.

Promotional Short Message Service (SMS) messages, which provide frequent updates about deals and discounts to consumers, are crucial in developing countries like Sri Lanka, as they help alleviate financial pressure during economic crises. However, poor practices by the brands, SMS technology limitations and human memory limitations challenge the ability of consumers to make effective use of this facility. As a solution, this project aimed to develop an Android application to organize and enhance the readability of promotional messages, while also providing mechanisms to prevent users from forgetting promotions. These objectives were achieved by creating a Kotlin app that displays promotional information in a date-sorted weekly dashboard, offers deal-expiration reminders, and optimizes message content for readability. The system utilizes a novel workflow/pipeline combining a Natural Language Processing (NLP) model with Named Entity Recognition (NER) capabilities, Regular Expressions and custom logic, to understand the context of and extract the crucial information from the promotional messages. User-acceptance testing carried out demonstrates positive results, reducing traditional access times to promotions of 8-10 seconds to approximately 2 seconds through this application. Additionally, user-testers reported multiple occurrences of the reminders feature ensuring that promotions weren't forgotten before use. © 2024 IEEE.

Diagnosis prediction is becoming crucial to develop healthcare plans for patients based on Electronic Health Records (EHRs). Existing works usually enhance diagnosis prediction via learning accurate disease representation, where many of them try to capture inclusive relations based on the hierarchical structures of existing disease ontologies such as those provided by ICD-9 codes. However, they overlook exclusive relations that can reflect different and complementary perspectives of the ICD-9 structures, and thus fail to accurately represent relations among diseases and ICD-9 codes. To this end, we propose to project disease embeddings and ICD-9 code embeddings into boxes, where a box is an axis-aligned hyperrectangle with a geometric region and two boxes can clearly "include" or "exclude" each other. Upon box embeddings, we further obtain patient embeddings via aggregating the disease representations for diagnosis prediction. Extensive experiments on two real-world EHR datasets show significant performance gains brought by our proposed framework, yielding average improvements of 6.04% for diagnosis prediction over state-of-the-art competitors. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
