Smart communities use myriad IoT devices and the data they transmit to perform global optimization. In network-transparent service provision, data transmitted from IoT devices are analyzed using network devices such as switches and routers in the edge region to add value to the data without modifying the IoT devices. However, to establish a mechanism for providing such network transparency services while complying with the opt-in or opt-out of data provided by users, data distribution management is necessary to determine the stored location and path of the target data. In addition, because a smart community environment is assumed to be a heterogeneous computing-resource environment, it is necessary to envision a dynamic relocation function for transparent network services considering the usage of computing resources. In this study, we proposed a method for managing and migrating transparent network services deployed on edge nodes using containers and linked it to an existing information distribution management mechanism that enables data distribution management at the service level. In the experiments, we confirmed that dynamic placement was possible under a load. We also measured the response delay associated with the provision of a transparent network service and confirmed that the associated processing delay was approximately 10 ms. © 2024 ACM.

High photogenerated carrier recombination rate and weak spectral response are the two main factors restricting photocatalytic activities of *** this work,a novel Ag/Bi_(24)O_(31)Cl_(10)heterojunction has been developed by the in-situ photoreduction technique to address the preceding ***-chemical properties of as-synthesized 0.7 wt%Ag/Bi_(24)O_(31)Cl_(10)photocatalysts were investigated in *** Ag clusters can be seen as surface plasmon polaritons to light absorption capacity and photothermal effect,which was demonstrated via Raman and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra(UV-Vis DRS).Den-sity functional theory(DFT)calculations show that the additional unoccupied crystal orbital by the silver(Ag)will accelerate the charge separation where some of the excited electrons to the conduction band of Bi_(24)O_(31)Cl_(10)will drift to these orbitals which in turn prevent charge ***,Ag metal cluster-decorated Bi_(24)O_(31)Cl_(10)photocatalysts can be identified as electron trappers to boost the spatial separation of the photogenerated carrier,and finally,the CH 4 generation rate and the rhodamine b(RhB)degraded efficiency of Ag/Bi_(24)O_(31)Cl_(10)photocatalysts are enhanced about 1.54 and 5.20 times,*** Ag/Bi_(24)O_(31)Cl_(10)composite photocatalyst retained high photocatalytic activities after four cycles indi-cating the stability and repeatability of the Ag/Bi_(24)O_(31)Cl_(10)*** work aims to provide new insight into modifying ideal semiconductor materials for high photocatalytic activity.

Physical, linear/nonlinear optical, dielectric characteristics, and γ-ray-buildup factors of nanocomposites (NCs) sheets of PVC doped with x(Pb0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4) spinel nanoferrites: x = 0–10 wt% and named as PVC/PNF0-PVC/PNF10 have been tested. Density (ρ) changed from 1.405 g·cm−3 to 2.6130 g·cm−3 as x changed from 0.0 to 10 wt%. Optical-energy-gap (Eoptical) diminished from 5.207 to 2.753 eV, whereas the linear index of refraction of (nlinear) increased from 1.962 to 2.405 for PVC/PNF0 and PVC/PNF10 NCs sheets. The nonlinear optical susceptibility (χ3) and nonlinear refractive index (n2optical) of the investigated PVC/PNF-NCs sheets increased as (Pb0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4) content increased. Dielectric spectroscopy of fabricated PVC/PNF-NCs is investigated throughout frequencies from 50 Hz to 5 × 106 Hz at RT. The dielectric-constant was reduced by introduction of Pb0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4. Mass absorption coefficient (MAC) values of PVC/PNF-NCs sheets obeyed the fact that (PVC/PNF0)MAC MAC MAC MAC MAC. The γ-ray exposure, and absorption-buildup factors of the investigated PVC/PNF-NCs sheets followed as (PVC/PNF0)EBF/EABF > (PVC/PNF1)EBF/EABF > (PVC/PNF3)EBF/EABF > (PVC/PNF5)EBF/EABF > (PVC/PNF10)EBF/EABF. Results confirmed that the suggested PVC/PNF-NCs sheets with smallest dielectric constant may implement in electrical cable. Urban air is frequently contaminated with CO, CO2, VOC, HCHO, PM 2.5, and PM 10. Rural regions are at a lower risk than those near roads and industrial areas that produce emissions. Air pollutants negatively affect its inhabitants' health, particularly the respiratory system. Most people will spend more time indoors, requiring a method for monitoring indoor air quality (IAQ). Urban communities need IAQ monitoring instruments as an early warning system for their health. This research seeks to produce inexpensive IAQ that can be utilized by all levels of society, particularly urban communities. This research utilizes a qualitative, design-thinking-based methodology. The research diverged from Empatize, which asserts that urban communities require a method for determining the local air quality. Moreover, it is determined at the define stage that IAQ monitoring, which includes a data log feature, is still comparatively expensive, so a solution is developed at the ideate stage. Creating a prototype is the next step in realizing the specified solution. In this investigation, they decided to use IAQ monitoring, which is relatively inexpensive but lacks log data storage. The author uses the ESP32-cam microcontroller to capture the screen display device, and the resulting image is sent to a telegram and processed with optical character recognition (OCR) to generate a data log. The results of prototype testing are utilized for prototype development. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper delves into the transformative potential of ML in addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges in optimizing renewable energy and mitigating climate change. How ML algorithms work to improve efficiency within solar and wind energy systems, smart grids, and energy storage technologies is revealed by large data sets and predictive analytics. As ML improves the forecasting of energy, minimizes waste, and allows for better grid integration, its contribution to cutting carbon emissions significantly is immense. In addition, it facilitates climate adaptation by accurately predicting extreme weather occurrences and climate variability. Challenges facing the approach include data paucity, computational cost, and integration with older systems. Interdisciplinary collaboration and newer ML models tackle these challenges well. The study recognizes the significant role of machine learning in creating a sustainable environment and notes its ability to actually reconcile environmental, economic, and social objectives toward a robust and greener future. © 2025 IEEE.

Residual stresses induced during turning processes can affect thequality and performance of machined products,depending on its direction and *** stresses can be highly detrimental as they can lead to creeping,fatigue,and stress corrosion *** final state of residual stresses in a workpiece depends on its material as well as the cutting-tool configuration such as tool geometry/coating,cooling and wear conditions,and process parameters including the cutting speed,depth-ofcut and ***,there have been disagreements in some literatures regarding influences of the abovementioned factors on residual stresses due to different cutting conditions,tool parameters and workpiece materials used in the specific *** review paper categorizes different methods in experimental,numerical and analytical approaches employed for determining induced residual stresses and their relationships with cutting conditions in a turning *** is presented for the effects of different cutting conditions and parameters on the final residual stresses state.

In this note, we present the synthesis of secure-by-construction controllers that address safety and security properties simultaneously in cyber-physical systems. Our focus is on studying a specific security property called opacity, which characterizes the system's ability to maintain plausible deniability of its secret behavior in the presence of an intruder. These controllers are synthesized based on a concept of so-called (augmented) control barrier functions. We propose conditions that facilitate the construction of the desired (augmented) control barrier functions and their corresponding secure-by-construction controllers. To compute these functions, we propose an iterative scheme that leverages iterative sum-of-square programming techniques. This approach enables efficient computation of these functions, particularly for polynomial systems. Finally, we validate the effectiveness of our results through a case study of a vehicle. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

A rapid and high-performance sensor for lard adulterant in edible oil was developed using the tapered plastic optical fiber(POF)coated with graphene and multi-walled carbon *** coating material was deposited onto a tapered POF with a taper waist diameter and a taper length of 0.45 mm and 1 cm,*** addition of the coating material was used to increase the sensitivity and selectivity coefficient of the tapered POF toward the lard *** sensing mechanism is based on a simultaneous interaction of lard substance and an evanescent wave of tapered POF with the coating *** results showed that graphene coating on the tapered POF increased the selectivity coefficient of the tapered POF towards lard substance from 33.54 to 324.19,and it gave a sensitivity of 0.427 dBm/%.In comparison,multi-walled carbon nanotubes coating increased the selectivity coefficient to 71.65 and increased its sensitivity to 1.189 dBm/%.Thus,the proposed configuration of the tapered POF with the coating material offered a simple configuration for a rapid,high sensitivity and selectivity detection of lard adulterant in edible oils.

CoCrMoW alloys with different nitrogen(N)additions(0,0.05,0.1,and 0.2 wt%)were prepared via laser powder bed fusion(LPBF).The effects of N content on the microstructure and mechanical properties were *** results indicate that the LPBFed CoCrMoW alloy with 0.1 wt%N addition(0.1 N alloy)shows the best combination of mechanical properties with a yield strength of~983 MPa and an elongation of~19%.Both the LPBF process and the N addition impose great effects on suppressing theγtoεmartensitic transformation,resulting in a decrease in the width and amount ofεlaths/stacking ***,the N addition promotes the segregation of elements Mo,W,and Si along the cellular sub-grain boundaries(CBs),forming fine and discontinuous precipitates rich in Mo,W and Si along the CBs in the 0.1 N alloy,but dense and continuous(Mo,W)5Si_(3)precipitates along the CBs in the 0.2 N ***(Mo,W)5Si_(3)precipitates with a tetragonal structure were observed and characterized for the first time in the Co-Cr based *** negative mixing enthalpy between the non-metallic elements N,Si and the metallic elements Mo,W,Cr,and the rapid solidification induced segregation of high melting point elements such as Mo and W along CBs during LPBF process,synergistically contribute to the chemical heterogeneity in the *** pure FCC matrix,the slightly increased segregation of Mo,W,Si elements and fine precipitates along the CBs contribute to the good combination of strength and elongation of the 0.1 N ***,though pure FCC phase was present in the 0.2 N alloy,the dense and continuous(Mo,W)5Si_(3)precipitates along CBs acted as nucleation sites for cracks,deteriorating the elongation of the ***,it is possible to tune the mechanical properties of the LPBFed CoCrMoW alloy by adjusting the local chemical heterogeneity.
