An adaptive predistortion linearization is proposed to compensate for the nonlinear distortions induced by high power amplifiers (HPAs) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. By expressing the uncertain nonlinear input-output dynamics of HPA by a new simplified Volterra series model (VSM), a predistorter (i.e., compensator) is constructed based on identification of inverse system of the HPA. Once predistorter's parameters are obtained by RLS algorithm, when OFDM signals pass through the cascade system of the predistorter and the HPA, overall linearization from predistorter input to HPA output can be achieved even if HPA is uncertain. The effectiveness of the proposed predistortion method is validated by numerical simulation for 64-ary quadrature amplitude modulation OFDM (64QAM-OFDM) transmission systems

OFDM supports high data rate and generally requires no equalization at the receiver, making it simple and efficient. Besides its several benefits, it suffers from large peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) of the transmit signal, due to which its straightforward implementation becomes quite costly. There are several techniques to attack this problem. But, most of them are suited for specific applications or works with small number of subcarriers. Also, some need side information to be transmitted along with the signal to recover the signal properly. In this paper, a hybrid modulator is proposed that reduces PAPR while keeping the OFDM transceiver design simple, as it does not require any side information or a little side information to be sent and is efficient for arbitrary number of subcarriers. This paper describes a new sensor system for improving the accuracy of the range information using multiple IR range sensors. Environment and obstacle sensing is the key issue for mobile robot localization and navigation. Laser scanners cover 180deg and are accurate but too expensive. Radial range sensors such as laser scanners, IR scanners and ultrasonic range sensor rings have blind spots so that a small obstacle not close enough to the sensor may be easily missed. It is necessary to develop a low cost sensor system which covers 360deg with small blind spots. A sensor system with 12 IR range sensors is designed and implemented. The problem of the 2D sensor systems is, they measure the nearby obstacles on a plane where the sensors are located. This paper describes a new sensor system for improving the accuracy of the range information using multiple IR range sensors. In most of the mobile robot application, the robot enters an unknown environment and relying solely on range sensor information, it builds up an environment map that can be used for collision free navigation and localization. Mobile robot builds the environment map for localization and navigation from the range sensor information. Therefore, the accuracy of the map depends on the accuracy of the range sensor information, so do the localization and navigation. A sensor system with multiple rotating range sensors is proposed in this paper. There are 12 IR range sensors around the mobile robot. Each sensor rotates and the scanning area of a sensor overlaps with those of the nearby sensors. The advantage of the proposed idea is that the blind spot becomes much smaller than using only one sensor. In order to scan the environment vertically, a 2.5D sensor system is developed. It is more effective than the 3D vision system in some sense that it provides the stereoscopic range information without any computational image processing. The scanned data can be used for the enhanced map building and map matching
