The combined influence of mining activities and the underlying terrain gradient has caused significant transformations in the landscape patterns of mining cities. The natural topography being altered by mining operations can result in a distinct evolution in the spatial arrangement and ecological dynamics of these cities. Spatial heterogeneities are influenced by factors such as extraction techniques, waste disposal methods, and infrastructure development. The inherent terrain gradient heavily influences the distribution of mining sites and urban expansion patterns. This research underscores the intricate interplay between human-induced activities and natural topographical features in shaping the landscape of mining cities. The development of resilient communities in areas that are evolving due to mining requires a clear understanding of these dynamics for sustainable urban planning, environmental conservation, and community development.

Rainfall plays a significant role in managing the water level in the *** unpredictable amount of rainfall due to the climate change can cause either overflow or dry in the *** individuals,especially those in the agricultural sector,rely on rain *** rainfall is challenging because of the changing nature of the *** area of Jimma in southwest Oromia,Ethiopia is the subject of this research,which aims to develop a rainfall forecasting *** estimate Jimma's daily rainfall,we propose a novel approach based on optimizing the parameters of long short-term memory(LSTM)using Al-Biruni earth radius(BER)optimization algorithm for boosting the fore-casting accuracy.N ash-Sutcliffe model eficiency(NSE),mean square error(MSE),root MSE(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and R2 were all used in the conducted experiments to assess the proposed approach,with final scores of(0.61),(430.81),(19.12),and(11.09),***,we compared the proposed model to current machine-learning regression models;such as non-optimized LSTM,bidirectional LSTM(BiLSTM),gated recurrent unit(GRU),and convolutional LSTM(ConvLSTM).It was found that the proposed approach achieved the lowest RMSE of(19.12).In addition,the experimental results show that the proposed model has R-with a value outperforming the other models,which confirms the superiority of the proposed *** the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to measure the significance and stability of the proposed approach and the recorded results proved the expected perfomance.

Effect of Particle Size Distribution on the Transmission Efficiency of Atomized Water to the Tracheal Tube

Ultrasonic atomization is a widely used technology. As the atomization device, lead zirconate titanate (PZT) and lithium niobate (LN) are comparatively investigated through experimental and numerical schemes. However, knowledge on a profitable scheme by which to efficiently deliver the atomized particles into the tracheal tube remains unclear. In this study, the physical difference of the transmission efficiency of water particles atomized by PZT and LN devices was measured. The water particles atomized by PZT and LN were injected into a human airway model including a nasal cavity and bronchial tube. The distribution of the amount of transmitted particles deposited at each of the monitoring positions was then estimated using the results of image analysis of color intensity. As a result, the atomized particles of the PZT device, which produced larger particles than the LN device, were more strongly affected by inertia and tended to be deposited at the area closer to the entrance of the nasal cavity. In contrast, the particles produced by the LN device tended to be transmitted deeper into the trachea. The experimental results indicated that the particle size distribution of PZT and LN, which have quite different maximum sizes of particles, largely influences the spatial distribution characteristics of particle deposition along the airway from the nasal cavity to the trachea. © 2023, The Authors. The internet became a common communication platform for many people. However, information transmission is not secure, and there is a high probability of copying and altering the information easily. In the public network, transmitting sensitive or private information needs some kind of protection. Unless a secure channel is utilized for the transmission. Hiding the information is one of the efficient techniques that provides a solution for transmitting confidential data over communication channels. These techniques should meet various application requirements such as high robustness against attacks, real-time, and high hiding capacity. Generally, information-hiding techniques suffer from many challenges. This paper provides an insight into these techniques, their applications, and challenges to fill the gap of missing such an overview. © 2023 ACM.

Experimental Study for the Particle-Wall Interaction on the Particle Velocity and Dispersion in Particle-Laden Turbulent Boundary Layer at High Reynolds Number

In a horizontal wind tunnel, experiments were performed on either particle-free or particle-laden flows at the same incoming velocity. Glass micro-spheres were carried by air along the turbulent boundary layer at a high Reynolds number ($Re_\tau=3200$). Two sizes of the solid particles were considered to have Stokes numbers $St^+=O(10)$ and $O(10^2)$ when based on the viscous time scale. Under the similar volume fraction, $\Phi_v=O(10^{-5})$, velocity and spatial distribution of solid inertial particles were investigated by a simultaneous particle image/tracking velocimetry measurements and a time-resolved particle imaging exploring particle dynamics and its corresponding spatial structure in the particle-laden turbulent boundary layer. The results showed that the particle-wall (PW) interaction occurs in both particle-laden flows. However, the particle Stokes number directly affects the intensity of the PW interaction, significantly altering the behavior and spatial organization of particles. The results from the Voronoi tessellation technique confirmed that preferential clustering still happens for the small particle case. In particular, premultiplied spectra for the particle concentration showed that the temporal pattern of the particle clustering presents a similar time-scale to the very large scale motion ($\sim22\delta$, where $\delta$ is the boundary layer thickness) in the near-wall region. © 2023, The Authors. This paper presents a method to design a linear state feedback controller for the mecanum wheel omnidirectional to track a NURBS curve trajectory. Firstly, the robot's kinematic model and kinematic error were established to design a linear state feedback controller. Then, determine the parameters of the controller according to the varying angular velocity for the desired trajectory. An omnidirectional robot platform has been experimental designed and manufactured for experimental verification of the proposed controller. The simulation and experimental results show that the kinematic controller devel-oped by this study has high-performance trajectory tracking with minor tracking errors. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this study, we explore integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) networks to strike a more effective balance between sensing and communication (S&C) performance at the network scale. We leverage stochastic geometry to analyze the S&C performance, shedding light on critical cooperative dependencies of ISAC networks. According to the derived expres-sions of network performance, we optimize the user/target loads and the cooperative base station cluster sizes for S&C to achieve a flexible trade-off between network-scale S&C performance. It is observed that the optimal strategy emphasizes the full utilization of spatial resources to enhance multiplexing and diversity gain when maximizing communication ASE. In contrast, for sensing objectives, parts of spatial resources are allocated to cancel inter-cell sensing interference to maximize sensing ASE. Simulation results validate that the proposed ISAC scheme realizes a remarkable enhancement in overall S&C network performance.

In the development of blink input interfaces, it is important to classify between conscious (voluntary) and naturally occurring (involuntary) blinks. In the previous studies, some systems employed a long blink as a voluntary blink, but determining the appropriate discriminative condition was difficult. To avoid the problem of individual differences in discrimination conditions, an individual calibration method was proposed, but the calibration procedure increases the burden on the user. In this study, we introduce a new 3D convolutional neural network (3D CNN), which deals with spatial and temporal dimensional directions. This 3D CNN model is trained with a moving image dataset of the periocular area. For the proposed 3D CNN, a sequence of seven images cut from a video sequence is used as a set of an input sample to classify three states;voluntary, involuntary, and not blinking. In this study, data of five subjects were used for training and seven for testing. A detailed analysis of the result revealed that the biased position of the open-eye area in the images leads to a lower classification rate. To address this problem, we propose an automatic determination method for the area to be cropped in the periocular image and verify its performance. © 2023 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Wireless power transfer (WPT) presents a promising approach for charging electric vehicles (EVs), offering increased convenience, reliability, and safety for EV customers. Recently, the incorporation of multiple coil structures in wireless charging systems has addressed various operational challenges, enhanced power transfer, and provided a scalable solution for EVs. However, cross-coupling issues and space limitation problems arise when multiple coils are introduced to the WPT system. In this paper, a novel integrated compact coupler is proposed, including two naturally decoupled coils on the transmitter side, while both are coupled with the receiver coil to improve the power transfer capability of the system. ANSYS Maxwell is employed to simulate the proposed coupler and evaluate its performance under misalignment operations. The proposed wireless charging system inherently detects misalignment direction based on the variation of output voltage with respect to x-misalignment. As a result, the experimental prototype of the designed wireless WPT system presents a peak efficiency of 97.08% at 1.147-kW output power for an air gap of 120 mm under fully-aligned condition. Additionally, the designed compensation coil can transfer power of 243.76-W under fully-aligned condition and increases reliability in power transfer during misalignment operations. © 2013 IEEE.
