Handwritten character recognition systems are used in every field of life nowadays,including shopping malls,banks,educational institutes,*** is the national language of Pakistan,and it is the fourth spoken language in the ***,it is still challenging to recognize Urdu handwritten characters owing to their cursive *** paper presents a Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)model to recognize Urdu handwritten alphabet recognition(UHAR)offline and online *** research contributes an Urdu handwritten dataset(aka UHDS)to empower future works in this *** offline systems,optical readers are used for extracting the alphabets,while diagonal-based extraction methods are implemented in online ***,our research tackled the issue concerning the lack of comprehensive and standard Urdu alphabet datasets to empower research activities in the area of Urdu text *** this end,we collected 1000 handwritten samples for each alphabet and a total of 38000 samples from 12 to 25 age groups to train our CNN model using online and offline ***,we carried out detailed experiments for character recognition,as detailed in the *** proposed CNN model outperformed as compared to previously published approaches.

Data poisoning attacks, where adversaries manipulate training data to degrade model performance, are an emerging threat as machine learning becomes widely deployed in sensitive applications. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of data poisoning including attack techniques, adversary incentives, impacts on security and reliability, detection methods, defenses, and key research gaps. We examine label flipping, instance injection, backdoors, and other attack categories that enable malicious outcomes ranging from IP theft to accidents in autonomous systems. Promising detection approaches include statistical tests, robust learning, and forensics. However, significant challenges remain in translating academic defenses like adversarial training and sanitization into practical tools ready for operational use. With safety and trustworthiness at stake, more research on benchmarking evaluations, adaptive attacks, fundamental tradeoffs, and real-world deployment of defenses is urgently needed. Understanding vulnerabilities and developing resilient machine learning pipelines will only grow in importance as data integrity is fundamental to developing safe artificial intelligence. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2023.

Telemedicine, the remote delivery of medical treatment via digital technology has become essential, particularly for rural and disadvantaged populations. The benefits of telemedicine are reviewed in this research, including increased access to care, lower costs, and better chronic illness management. Although the COVID-19 pandemic's acceleration guaranteed continuity of care, technological constraints, legal concerns, and data privacy considerations hindered the full potential from being achieved. The article addresses the barriers to wider adoption and examines research showing the benefits of telemedicine. It ends with suggestions for infrastructure investments and legislative modifications to broaden the use of telemedicine and lessen healthcare inequities.

Heart disease is a leading global cause of death, highlighting the need for accurate and efficient risk assessment methods. Traditional models often fail to address the uncertainty and vagueness in medical data. A Fuzzy Rule-Based system (FRBS) offers a solution by leveraging fuzzy logic to handle imprecise inputs like age, blood pressure, and lifestyle factors. The system uses fuzzification to convert crisp inputs into fuzzy sets, applies expert-defined IF-THEN rules through an inference engine, and translates outputs into interpretable risk scores via defuzzification. FRBS provides a flexible and patient-centric approach, accommodating linguistic variables and ambiguous data. Applications include real-time monitoring through wearable devices and telemedicine platforms, enhancing preventive care and empowering early detection of heart disease. Torsional Tuned Mass Dampers (TTMD) are used for attenuation of harmful effect of torque pulsation in internal combustion engines which originates due to reciprocating unbalance and gas forces. Torsional dampers use silicone oil inside a cylindrical cavity which houses an inertial ring. It is possible to use the theoretical models to estimate stiffness and damping properties of the TTMD, when the silicone oil is used in the damper. However when TTMD uses rheological fluid instead of plain silicone oil or any other additives are used in the silicone oil, it is difficult to estimate stiffness and damping with the theoretical methods. The present work demonstrates an experimental method to determine the vibration characteristics of TTMD. A custom designed fixture is used along with an accelerometer, time and frequency domain data analysis and arrangement to provide forced vibrations. Initially TTMD is excited with free vibrations and frequency response of the angular acceleration is measured, which is used to determine stiffness of the TTMD. Further, a harmonic torque as applied and the steady state amplitude of angular acceleration is measured, which is used to calculate damping coefficient of TTMD. The presented method exhibits 5-10% deviation in the estimated vibration parameters in comparison to the theoretically calculated values. © 2022 IEEE.

Due to the surface covered by the capillary wick in the high temperature heat pipe, the classical evaporation and condensation model may be difficult to characterize the evaporation process well in the high temperature heat pipe under different working conditions. Therefore, this paper carried out an experimental study on the heat transfer characteristics of the evaporation process of high temperature heat pipe with capillary wick. By measuring the axial and radial temperature distribution in the high temperature heat pipe under different working conditions, the phase interface evaporation thermal resistance and evaporation coefficient (Hertz-Knudsen equation) at different temperatures in the high temperature heat pipe were calculated, and the variation law of evaporation coefficient under different working conditions was analyzed. The results show that the magnitude of the evaporation thermal resistance is between 0 and 10-3, which means the evaporation heat transfer coefficient is very high. In general, with the increase of temperature(pressure), the logarithm of evaporation coefficient has a good negative linear correlation with pressure. In addition, it is found that if the adiabatic section temperature commonly used in engineering calculation is taken as the saturation temperature, the value of evaporation coefficient obtained is relatively small, as well as the data dispersion, which is due to axial thermal resistance is introduced. Furthermore, by fitting the experimental data, a correlation for the evaporation of high temperature heat pipe with capillary wick is proposed. © 2023 by JSME.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has turned the healthcare domain in a better direction due to more interconnected and smarter systems that enhance care delivery. Certainly, the IoT-accessible applications in these fields are only possible if devices, sensors, and real-time data are interconnected. Among today's marvels are remote patient monitoring, wearable health trackers, telemedicine, and smart hospital management. Medicine gets more personal, effective, and accessible due to these improvements. However, its development remains unmatched being faced with complexities such as security of personalized data, safety risks resolution, and seamless device-to-system integration. This paper examines the influential role of IoT in advanced healthcare systems, with its virtues, major applications, and implementation obstacles as the subject. The Internet of Things as a mode of health and technology bridging can entirely change how medicines are being practiced and even lead to the improvement of the lives of patients by introducing adaptive and efficient hospital systems. Thus, IoT can be a technology that balances tech and medicine for the betterment of patient treatment outcomes and make the system adaptive and efficient.

AI-based Clinical Decision Support systems are a revolutionary innovation in the healthcare sector, using artificial intelligence to improve diagnostic precision, optimize treatment planning, and enhance patient outcomes. This paper discusses the challenges, benefits, applications, and future directions of AI-driven CDSS. Some of the key challenges are data quality, integration with EHRs, ethical concerns, and explainability issues. Despite these challenges, benefits such as efficiency improvements, reduced clinician workload, and the possibility of tailored medicine are substantial. In addition, the paper depicts diverse applications across oncology, cardiology, and primary care. The paper further stresses the directions: validation of robustness, user-friendly interfaces, and equitable deployment to achieve maximal utilization of AI-CDSS in global health care systems. Besides this, the integration of multimodal data and improvement in predictive analytics will help to revolutionize preventive care. Moreover, ethical practices with AI will bring forth trust and adoption. Such an all-inclusive review signifies the pivotal role AI will play in shaping clinical decision-making for the future.
