In recent years, with the continuous development of China's hydropower projects, Pelton turbines are gradually being valued, and the focus of development has shifted from plain areas to plateau areas. Environmental impacts such as high altitude, water temperature, and high sediment content in the plateau area have caused serious interference to equipment that originally worked in a stable environment, for example, the failure of the cooperation between the parts of the turbine and the mutual seizure, the increased wear of the nozzle needle, the decrease of the flow rate and the water outlet speed of the nozzle, and the decrease of the air pressure in the plateau environment lead to the change of the flow state of the nozzle. In view of the above problems, this paper puts forward the design scheme of impulse turbine test-bed, using the method of changing specific speed to determine the basic parameters of impulse turbine unit, so as to eliminate the influence of plateau environment on the normal operation of turbine, obtain the efficiency condition of model experiment under low ambient pressure, and improve the operation efficiency and reliability of turbine unit. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. In the current industrial environment, which is shifting towards an event-based control prone paradigm, sampling strategies in use must be revisited. Both temporal and magnitude dependent sampling strategies have been demonstrated to be suitable for control systems, reporting benefits in different categories. However, these sampling strategies also present some drawbacks, discussed in this contribution. Aiming to address some of these drawbacks, a new sampling strategy is proposed gathering characteristics of both predecessors.

One of the objectives of event-based control is the reduction of generated events to perform an appropriate process control. Among the event generation techniques used to this end, those quantifying the error signal can be found more frequently for its simplicity of implementation. However, they entail a drawback in the form of trade-off between event generation and performance. Aiming to reduce the number of events, specifically in the transient response, without degrading the performance, an error dependent sampling scheme is studied in this work.

Robotic applications across industries demand advanced navigation for safe and smooth movement. Smooth path planning is crucial for mobile robots to ensure stable and efficient navigation, as it minimizes jerky movements and enhances overall performance Achieving this requires smooth collision-free paths. Partial Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Potential Field (PF) are notable path-planning techniques, however, they may struggle to produce smooth paths due to their inherent algorithms, potentially leading to suboptimal robot motion and increased energy consumption. In addition, while PSO efficiently explores solution spaces, it generates long paths and has limited global search. On the contrary, PF methods offer concise paths but struggle with distant targets or obstacles. To address this, we propose Smoothed Partial Swarm Optimization with Improved Potential Field (SPSO-IPF), combining both approaches and it is capable of generating a smooth and safe path. Our research demonstrates SPSO-IPF's superiority, proving its effectiveness in static and dynamic environments compared to a mere PSO or a mere PF approach. © 2024, CC BY.

This paper presents a control approach allowing a tight integration of several driver assistance functions in automotive vehicles, including front steering, differential braking and autonomous emergency braking. The goal is to support a more effective collision avoidance with necessary emergency maneuvers during automated driving, while avoiding situations with a high risk of undesired vehicle instability due to separated steering and braking actions. The approach adopts a Model Predictive control (MPC) based methodology using a set of performance indexes calculated according to the actual time to collision, braking and steering capabilities. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is evaluated in a simulation on MATLAB/Simulink.

A new notch filter (NF) circuit based on a single differential difference operational amplifier (DDA) has been developed and studied, which is characterized by reduced current consumption in the static mode. Equations are obtained for the transfer functions and parameters of the NF, which includes a low-pass filter and a Sallen-Key high-pass filter, the signals of which are summed by the DDA. Computer modeling of the NF in CAD Micro-Cap was performed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This paper proposes a high-order fully actuated (HOFA) control approach for the output position control of two-mass systems (TMSs) based on extended state observer (ESO). TMSs belongs to a class of underactuated mechanical systems, which can be converted into an HOFA model using variable elimination. Based on the feature of HOFA model, it is extremely simple to solve the position control law such that a desired tracking error system can be achieved. To handle the control issues of high-order derivatives and unknown disturbances, a linear ESO is employed for state estimation and active disturbance rejection control, where the lumped disturbance is treated as an extended system state. The theoretical stability of control system is analyzed with the help of sliding manifold. Comparative simulations are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

A new high-pass filter (HPF) circuit of the second-order Sallen-Key family has been developed and studied, in which independent adjustment of the main parameters is realized -the pole frequency, the quality factor of the pole and the transmission coefficient. The basic equations for the transfer functions and HPF parameters are presented. Physical Passivation of Deep-Level Defect States in Polymer Dielectrics for Outstanding Dielectric Properties

The limited dielectric strength of polymer dielectrics hampers their reliable use in highly integrated electrical systems and high-energy storage film capacitors. This constraint is closely associated with the presence of deep-level defect states in polymer dielectrics. Here, we present an efficient and stable approach for the physical passivation of deep-level defect states aimed at enhancing the dielectric properties of polymer dielectrics. Employing inductively coupled plasma technology with argon as the carrier gas, the polymer undergoes substantial decreased deep-level defect states, as evidenced by nano-micro-region defect measurements. Consequently, the localized charge accumulation in the treated polymer dielectric is significantly reduced, resulting in a remarkable 62% increase in flashover voltage. The breakdown strength is also enhanced, and the treated material exhibits long-term stability. Moreover, materials featuring passivated deep-level defect states can boost discharge energy density without compromising efficiency. For instance, PTFE with passivated deep-level defect states maintains a discharge energy density of 1.18 J/cm3 and a charge-discharge efficiency of 95.06% at 200 °C and 300 MV/m. By focusing on deep-level defect states passivation, we introduce a strategy for receiving polymers with exceptional performance and stability. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
