A hybrid simulator is a simulator which embeds a hardware experiment in a numerical simulation. However, the hybrid simulator is generally subjected to an inherent problem of energy increase in collision of two hardwares in the loop because of delay times. To solve this problem, Osaki et al. proposed a compensation method of delay time that can realize a variable coefficient of restitution [1]. However, the above method has a drawback that a model error of the system degrades the accuracy of the compensation method. This paper describes the influence of the model error and proposes a new approach to improve the accuracy of delay time compensation based on the coefficient of restitution by introducing a new model of the system. A collision experiment by the hybrid simulator is carried out to validate the accuracy of the proposed compensation method compared with the conventional compensation method.

This paper considers nonlinear dynamical networks consisting of individually iISS (integral input-to-state stable) subsystems which are not necessarily ISS (input-to-state stable). Stability criteria for internal and external stability of the networks are developed in view of both necessity and sufficiency. For the sufficiency, we show how we can construct a Lyapunov function of the network explicitly under the assumption that a cyclic small-gain condition is satisfied. The cyclic small-gain condition is shown to be equivalent to a matrix-like condition. The two conditions and their equivalence precisely generalize some central ISS results in the literature. Moreover, the necessity of the matrix-like condition is established. The allowable number of non-ISS subsystems for stability of the network is discussed through several necessity conditions.

This paper presents an energy-efficient VLSI architecture for 8×8 2-D DCT, which relies on a fast and precise implementation of the LLM algorithm. The energy-efficiency is achieved by using a combinational 1-D DCT block that explores the algorithm's intrinsic parallelism and the integer constant multiplications. The target throughput of 19 Mpixels/s, which is required for VGA@30fps, is achieved by applying a 4.9 MHz clock, that corresponds only to 17.5% of the maximum clock. Synthesis results for a 350 nm technology estimate total power as 6.08 mW, and core area as 2.1 mm2. The proposed architecture shows to be at least 42% more energy efficient than the related work. To further investigate the efficiency on deep submicron technology nodes, synthesis for 90 nm and 45 nm were also performed. © 2011 IEEE.

This work describes the use of clinical guidelines in public health care for decision support in a primary care record system. The clinical guidelines were used for decision support in primary care in order to improve the quality of electronic referrals to a hospital. Guidelines were developed by the specialists at the hospital, but the design and the development of the system was done in collaboration with general practitioners working in primary care. This paper sums up the findings from a study six months after the introduction of the decision support system, and is based on interviews with users in primary care. The work processes differed between the practices;General practitioners who wrote the referrals after the patient had left the office did not find the system as useful as the ones who wrote them when the patient was present. The general practitioners were reluctant to use guidelines that resulted in an additional workload in terms of providing the hospital with more information than before, but found the system useful as a support for assuring that they made the right clinical decisions. The guidelines were also seen as useful as a support for refusing to refer the patient to specialized care. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper considers the optimal assignment of two special workers in two kinds of workers under a limited-cycle scheduling problem with multiple periods. First, the property of the optimal assignment in the case of including two workers who have special processing efficiency is summarized. Second, the properties will be proved by a mathematical approach. Finally, several uncertain conditions of the optimal assignment (e.g. three special workers in two kinds of workers, or two special workers in three kinds of workers et al.) will be researched by numerical experiments with a branch and bound method based program to get a property of them.

In this paper,we consider the property of the optimal assignment with minimized total expected risk in a limited-cycle problem with multiple *** most uncertain cases,the result and efficiency of a certain period (or a production cycle) are influenced not only by the risks which exist in current period but also by the risks which exist in the previous ***'s more,the risk itself is also affected greatly by the risks which exist in the earlier periods. This kind of problem is called a limited-cycle problem with multiple ***,the property of the optimal assignment is summarized when two workers with special processing rate ***,the property will be proved by a mathematical ***,the property of the optimal assignment will be also figured out when three special processing rate workers exist in two kinds of workers by numerical ***,the relevancy between the case that two special workers exist and the case that three special workers exist will be researched.

For the future application-friendly Internet, we have presented a router architecture that enables to interact with a variety of rich services. The proposed router snoops a traffic data stream, inspects the packet payload as well as packet headers, and stores the designated data in the associated database. The service-friendly router uses the technology of DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) for enriching services. For this purpose, high-throughput regular expression processing becomes a crucial component embedded in the router in order to extract the required information from traffic streams. Moreover, target patterns of the regular expression processing can be dynamically and frequently updated according to the applications requests. In this paper, we mainly focus on the design and evaluation of the high-throughput regularexpression processor. It accelerates the processing performance of OR matching (pipe(\)-based matching) that is familiar in various emerging applications of future Internet. The proposed regular-expression processor achieves a low overhead processing under the condition that the updates of the regularexpression patterns are frequently issued. Evaluation results show that the proposed processor achieves 6.0-Gbps throughput of regular-expression matching when using 45nm standard cell library. © 2010 IEEE.

The paper addresses the increasing need for collaboration in the Norwegian health sector, and how collaborative systems can be designed to facilitate exchange and sharing of health information. An upcoming national health reform, the coordination reform, will have focus on how patients can get health services in, or closer to, their homes. The change in the cooperation processes between primary and specialized care will trigger the need for better collaboration platforms. design of electronic collaboration systems in health care has been challenging, and deployment of existing systems has been slow. This paper addresses how the Locales Framework can be used to do an analysis of the current situation and provide a basis for design of future collaborative systems. The framework seems to be adequate for analysis of collaboration processes in the health sector, and as a basis for establishing general recommendations for design of collaborative systems. © 2010 IEEE.
