This paper aims at applying optimal control principles to investigate optimal vaccination strategies in different phases of a pandemic. Background of the study is that many countries have started their vaccination procedures against the COVID-19 disease in the beginning of 2021, but supply shortages for the vaccines prevented that everyone could be vaccinated immediately. At the beginning of 2022, in contrast, the vaccine supply was ample, but the effectiveness of different existing vaccines to avoid infection by new virus variants was in doubt, as well as the acceptance of booster doses decreased over time. To account for these effects, two formulations of optimization tasks based on different epidemic models are proposed in this paper. The solution of these tasks determines optimal distribution strategies for available vaccines, and optimized vaccination schemes to reduce the need of booster doses for later phase. The gait, as a kind of soft biometric characteristic, can reflect the distinct walking patterns of individuals at a distance, exhibiting a promising technique for unrestrained human identification. With largely excluding gait-unrelated cues hidden in RGB videos, the silhouette and skeleton, though visually compact, have acted as two of the most prevailing gait modalities for a long time. Recently, several attempts have been made to introduce more informative data forms like human parsing and optical flow images to capture gait characteristics, along with multi-branch architectures. However, due to the inconsistency within model designs and experiment settings, we argue that a comprehensive and fair comparative study among these popular gait modalities, involving the representational capacity and fusion strategy exploration, is still lacking. From the perspectives of fine vs. coarse-grained shape and whole vs. pixel-wise motion modeling, this work presents an in-depth investigation of three popular gait representations, i.e., silhouette, human parsing, and optical flow, with various fusion evaluations, and experimentally exposes their similarities and differences. Based on the obtained insights, we further develop a C2Fusion strategy, consequently building our new framework MultiGait++. C2Fusion preserves commonalities while highlighting differences to enrich the learning of gait features. Keyphrase extraction aims to extract a set of keyphrases from the input document that highly summarizes the document. One of the issue in keyphrase extraction is how to extract representative keyphrases that is relevance and describe the information in the document. This study addresses pretrained language model (PLM) and topic-guided graph attention network (TgGAT) to extract a set of keyphrases from the input document. PLM can effectively capture knowledge from massive data and well perform on both language understanding and language generation tasks. BERT is one of PLM that designed to process bidirectionally, allowing BERT to understand word context based on the surrounding words. To enhance the keyphrase relevance, latent-dirichlet allocation used to learn the latent topic information and aiding the semantic understanding of the input document. For capturing semantic relationships between phrases in document based on their topics, this study used TgGAT. TgGAT models the anchoraware graph which organizes the initial anchor phrases. Experiment was conducted on a dataset containing 100 Indonesian accredited scientific article, Sinta 2 and Sinta 3, to evaluate the system' $s$ performance. The experimental results show a precision value of 0.058, a recall value of 0.070, and an F1-score of 0.062 for the five generated keywords across the entire tested dataset. Further in-depth analyses shows that pattern of phrases used has the important role in determining the representative phrases in input document. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapidly increasing technology and globalization, the internet has become an inevitable part of one's day-to-day life. The use of a sophisticated recommendation system has revolutionized the way consumers interact with online shopping platforms. To keep in pace with the emerging technology, every field needs to be digitalized and made up to date. In this context, the commercial shops and dealers too need to upgrade their traditional shopping methods. The old conventional methods don't always serve the new generation. The transition to online mode of shopping has made it mandatory for retailers and producers to customize according to the customer's requirement and providing various options than what was possible before. The focus in this system is to increase customer engagement, enhance the customer shopping experience, and boost sales by suggesting relevant products based on a user's browsing and purchase history, these products that are most likely to interest and satisfy individual customers. This paper reviews recent developments in recommendation systems in the domain of ecommerce. © 2023 IEEE.

The standard language is assessed, and the feelings transmitted by the individual are brought up. The purpose of sentiment analysis is to determine the polarity of a person's textual opinion. Most of the people use social media to market ourselves and share all knowledge, thoughts, ideas, and experiences with the rest of the world. Sentiment analysis has been studied by several internet companies that offer materials based on human emotions expressed through social media. Many people use social media to post and share their thoughts and feelings. The sentiment analysis standard assorts a sentence with all forms of emotions, each of which has an intensity. This study includes a sentiment analysis of diverse perspectives on social topics that are trending on social media, along with a recommendation system. This method recommends related content to viewers based on their current statement or issue. The algorithm also suggests customized video sets to users based on their social media activity, such as diverse perspectives on a particular social problem about which they actively express their thoughts on social media. NLP algorithms are utilized for sentiment analysis and recommendation systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Urban traffic flow management faces increasing challenges due to accelerating urbanization. Traffic data collected from roadside sensors contain complex temporal and spatial dependencies that interact simultaneously. Although Graph Neural Networks and Recurrent Neural Networks have been successful in capturing these dependencies, two critical issues remain: 1) Treating all traffic signals equally fails to capture the nuanced spatiotemporal dependencies hidden in time series data;2) Dynamic traffic conditions hinder the accurate capture of local spatial dependencies, thereby limiting prediction accuracy and reliability. To address these challenges, we propose an innovative model, FDDSGCN. To resolve the first issue, we introduce Fractional Residual Decomposition, which effectively separates traffic data into spatial and temporal signals. For the second issue, we employ Dynamic Spatial-Temporal Graph Convolution with fractional-order weight adjustments to dynamically capture local dependencies. Additionally, the Long Short-Term Dependency module analyzes both long-term and short-term dependencies. Extensive experiments on three public datasets demonstrate the superior performance and practical value of our model. © 2025 IEEE.

Coconut is one of the main economic crops in Bangladesh. It is a tree whose every part is useful in one way or another in public life. The leaves, flowers, fruits, stems, and roots of this tree are used as raw materials for various small and large industries, materials for making various delicious foods, delicious drinks, and food for patients. This is the world’s most beautiful tree and is well known and appreciated by all as the’heavenly tree’. However, it has recently become known that most coconut trees suffer from illnesses that gradually weaken the trees’ health and coconut yield. Pest illnesses and nutrient deficits have an impact on the majority of the tree’s leaves. The main reason is that most of the farmers in our country are unaware. They do not know what kind of measures to take in the case of any disease. They are using pesticides, assuming ancient principles, sometimes benefiting and sometimes counterproductively, and making the farmers poor. As a result, farmers are showing disinterest in coconut cultivation. Our main objective is to increase the viability of coconut leaves and detect problems early on so that farmers can benefit more from the cultivation of coconuts. The study suggests examining diseases and detecting insect attacks and nutritional deficiencies in coconut leaves. This will help grow more coconuts. It is expected that this model will help the agricultural field on both an economic and ecological level. This study focuses on the three coconut diseases: WCLWD Yellowing, WCLWD Flaccidity, and CCI Caterpillars. Three neural networks have_ been chosen in this study to identify the best model. After evaluating the VGG19, MobileNet v2, Inception v3, and ResNet50 models, the accuracy for a collection of 3166 images was determined to be 96%, 96.02%, 97.77%, and 99.36%, respectively. As a result of this technology, farmers will be able to produce more coconuts, surely bringing about a revolution in the agricultural industry. © 2024 IEEE.

The pharmaceutical drug industry faces considerable challenges in supply chain management, particularly in regard to tracking and tracing medications. Counterfeit drugs pose a significant global threat, and existing supply chain management practices often prove insufficient to prevent adulteration. Blockchain technology offers a potential solution to these issues by establishing a decentralized and distributed ecosystem where stakeholders can foster a trustworthy relationship. To address these limitations, we propose a blockchain-based system for tracking drugs in the supply chain, incorporating a reputation mechanism to ensure transparency and accountability among entities. To mitigate the interoperability challenges between blockchain networks, we implement inter-blockchain communication using the burn-to-claim protocol. Hyperledger Fabric is used as the primary blockchain because it ensures confidentiality between multiple organizations, and Quorum is the other blockchain. Our solution prioritizes trust, traceability, transparency, and accountability to deliver safe, authentic medication to consumers.. © 2023 IEEE.

Applying cloud detection algorithms to edge devices using semantic segmentation poses significant challenges due to the high computational complexity and power consumption. This paper proposes a parameter reduction method that combines linear channel pruning and adaptive pruning techniques to effectively compress the large UNet model. Linear channel pruning efficiently reduces model redundancy, while adaptive pruning further enhances the model's sparsity. This approach not only maintains performance comparable to the original UNet in terms of Intersection over Union (IoU) and other key metrics, but also significantly reduces the model's parameter count, thereby lowering DRAM access power consumption. Experimental results show that the first and second stages of parameter reduction decreased the model's parameter count by 98.5% and 70.3%, respectively, while reducing memory access by 67.5% and 65%, respectively. © 2025 IEEE.

Keeping track of time is regarded as an essential human behavior. The question of how the brain deals with temporal information remains a subject of scholarly debate. The current investigation aims to explore the mechanism underlying time perception by extracting fractal dimension from an electroencephalogram (EEG) signal and its frequency bands. To accomplish this, Higuchi’s fractal dimension was calculated for 42 healthy subjects’ electroencephalogram (EEG) signal and its sub-bands during the time perception task. The EEG signal was recorded from 19 channels. Subsequently, a statistical analysis was conducted to compare participants who underestimated versus those who overestimated the elapsed time and significantly different channels were presented. The findings suggest an elevated level of fractal dimensionality in persons who displayed a tendency to overestimate time. The EEG signal and Gamma rhythm emerged as the most distinguishing signals between the two cohorts. The contrast in fractal dimension between the two groups was predominantly apparent in the parietal and central channels. To summarize, an increased level of complexity is discernible in the EEG signal and high-frequency rhythms when there is an overestimation of temporal duration. It can be asserted that the employment of FD yields presents an exceptional approach to comprehending cerebral functionalities, notably temporal perception. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
