Datacenter networks suffer unpredictable performance due to a lack of application level bandwidth guarantees. A lot of attentions have been drawn to solve this problem such as how to provide bandwidth guarantees for Virtualized Machines (VMs), proportional bandwidth share among tenants, and high network utilization under peak traffic. However, existing solutions fail to cope with highly dynamic traffic in datacenter networks. In this paper, we consider the effects of large numbers of short flows and massive bursty traffic in the datacenter, and design a novel distributed rate allocation algorithm based on the Logistic model under the control-theoretic framework. The theoretical analysis and experimental results using OpenFlow show that our algorithm not only guarantees the bandwidth for VMs, but also provides fast convergence to efficiency and fairness, and smooth response to bursty traffic.

This paper presents a research to promote neighborly relation for disaster prevention by utilizing mobile home (it is called “Mobipo”) in usual day. Because of the experiences from aftermath of earthquake and seismic sea wave (Tsunemi), the disaster prevention is always the important theme. However, although the topic of reducing damage is important, the support system for people to reconstruct their life also cannot be ignored. The authors focus on promoting neighborly relation in daily life for disaster prevention, which reduce the stress during reconstruction process. We use an exercise support system with human-robot communication as a motive for people to visit Mobipo. The system encourages people's healthy life and helps people get back to normal life from disaster.

This study focuses on minimum headway and driver acceptance associated with an Autonomous Speed Control system (ASCS) in autonomous vehicles. For this study, three driving environments have been considered, including: residential, rural, and highway. The results showed that headway has a significant effect on the participant's opinion of the ASCS (i.e., workload, confidence, comfort, safety and acceptance), whereas no significant effect of the driver's gender or traffic speed was observed on the driver's opinion. At different driving speeds, the headway assigned by the participants remains stable with an average of 1.12-1.26s. This study demonstrates that most drivers maintain spacing between vehicles relying on their judgment on distance, and their judgment on headway is unreliable (i.e., most drivers are unable to jointly consider both speed and distance). These insights will help to inform the design of future autonomous vehicle applications, and will serve as an input for calculating the route capacity of intelligent transportation systems.

Due to the energy crisis of the next fifty years, an increasing number of large-scale wind farms are integrating into power systems. Parallel simulation platforms are indispensable to evaluate the effects of wind farm integration. A GPU-based parallel simulation platform is constructed in this paper to test the feasibility of simulating integration systems on GPU. By adopting previous research work such as averaged model and improved EMTP algorithm, models and algorithm of the platform are firstly introduced. Then the hardware and software architecture of the platform are put forward, which combine CPU configuration and GPU computing. Finally, a wind farm with different numbers of DFIGs are used to test the performance of the platform. Results show that the platform has excellent accuracy, efficiency and scalability. The work of this paper proves the feasibility to simulate wind farm integrating dynamics adopting GPU and its potential to reach tremendous efficiency and scalability.

The recent years witness the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT). Increasing numbers of conventional manufacturing enterprises face the challenge of using current data management systems to collect and analyze the massive volume of monitor data generated by sensors and equipments to improve the design, manufacture and maintenance of products. Hence, Map Reduce technique has gained a lot of attention for its applicability in large parallel monitor data analyses. In this paper, we apply a series of metrics implemented based on Map Reduce framework to depict a large collection of monitor data. With the help of these proposed metrics, domain experts can quickly analyze monitor data and feedback the analysis results to improve the design, manufacture and maintenance of products. Furthermore, we conduct a series of experiments on the real-world data sets and experimental results show that when facing a large amount of monitor data, these proposed Map Reduce implemented metrics outperform the conventional structured databases implemented metrics. Moreover, these Map Reduce implemented metrics have been successfully applied to a construction machinery manufacturer's condition monitoring system.
