As the automotive industry is developing rapidly, electric vehicles (EVs) have become a popular idea for green transportation due to their zero tailpipe emissions. One of the key parts on the EV board is the isolated step-down DC/DC converter, essential for transferring power efficiently between the high-voltage battery and the low-voltage side while ensuring battery protection. This paper analyzes and compares the phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB) and the T-type converters in terms of voltage and current stresses, losses, power density, and cost. Simulation and computational results indicate that the T-type converter with silicon-based middle switches achieves higher efficiency at lower power levels and is more cost-effective compared with the PSFB converter. Therefore, the T-type converter is a more efficient choice for powering the low-voltage side which requires lower power input in most cases. © 2024 IEEE.

Rapid thermal process (RTP) treatment of Czochralski-grown Si wafers results in the formation of bulk vacancy-oxygen complexes (VOX). VOX is estimated to act as a nucleus for bulk micro defects (BMDs). VOX may have a metal gettering effect similar to that of BMDs. Therefore, this study investigates the potential for VOX to exhibit a gettering effect on significant metal impurities (Fe, Ni, and Cu) in the semiconductor manufacturing process, particularly in RTP wafers. The binding energy (Eb) was determined using first-principles calculation. The calculated Eb values for metastable VO4 and metals are 0.91, 0.84, and 0.98 eV for Fe, Ni, and Cu, respectively, all exceeding the Eb of Fe-B (0.65 eV). These results suggest that RTP wafers without BMD precipitation are likely to demonstrate a metal gettering effect. © 2024 IEEE.

Given the pressing demands for high concurrency and throughput in secure business operations within cloud computing virtual environments, traditional I/O virtualization methods often lack the necessary latency guarantees for user cryptographic card computation tasks. Therefore, this paper explores a virtual cryptographic card resource sharing approach based on a lottery scheduling optimization algorithm, enabling multi-machine sharing and flexible allocation of crypto graphic cards. The study employs randomized scheduling based on the volume and waiting time of cryptographic computation tasks. By proportionally dividing cryptographic card resources, it enhances the timely responsiveness of virtual cryptographic computation tasks and reduces the uncertainty in resource allocation caused by the randomness of traditional lottery scheduling algorithms, thus balancing the computational requirements of different tasks for cryptographic computations. © 2024 IEEE.

Digitalization and automation are emerging solutions to the complex problems of recycling. In this research work, the experimental and Python based Archard deep learning wear rate models are introduced regarding recycling automation and composite tribological systems optimization. The optimum polyester fibers (PESF) of length of 3–3.5 mm were used for fabrication of polypropylene (PP)-PESF composite systems. The deformation, high texture, asperities, and micro-cracks were observed during scanning electron microscope and machine-learning studies. The lowest experimental value of abrasive wear of 3.0 × 10−6 mm3/Nm was observed for PP. Comparatively, higher experimental values of abrasive wear of the PP-PESF composites are found in the range of 4.35 × 10−6 to 4.7 × 10−6 mm3/Nm due to presence micro-defects on the surface of composites. The experimental values of Coefficient of friction (COF) of PP and PP-PESF are found in the range of 0.70–0.8 and 1.1–1.3, respectively. The experimental values of abrasive wear and COF are found compatible with literature. Similarly, the simulated values of abrasive wear of PP and PP-PESF composites are predicted in the range of 4.8 × 10−7 to 3.75 × 10−7 mm3/Nm, respectively. The predicted values of PP and PP-PESF composite show better resistance towards abrasive wear. The proposed experimental and simulated (in terms of Python coding, machine learning, image processing, artificial intelligence, and deep learning studies) research work can be introduced industrially for automation as well as digitalization of grinding of PES waste, processing, tribological testing, and SEM characterization evaluations. © 2024 The Authors

Reinforcement learning(RL) has roots in dynamic programming and it is called adaptive/approximate dynamic programming(ADP) within the control community. This paper reviews recent developments in ADP along with RL and its applications to various advanced control fields. First, the background of the development of ADP is described, emphasizing the significance of regulation and tracking control problems. Some effective offline and online algorithms for ADP/adaptive critic control are displayed, where the main results towards discrete-time systems and continuous-time systems are surveyed, ***, the research progress on adaptive critic control based on the event-triggered framework and under uncertain environment is discussed, respectively, where event-based design, robust stabilization, and game design are reviewed. Moreover, the extensions of ADP for addressing control problems under complex environment attract enormous attention. The ADP architecture is revisited under the perspective of data-driven and RL frameworks,showing how they promote ADP formulation ***, several typical control applications with respect to RL and ADP are summarized, particularly in the fields of wastewater treatment processes and power systems, followed by some general prospects for future research. Overall, the comprehensive survey on ADP and RL for advanced control applications has d emonstrated its remarkable potential within the artificial intelligence era. In addition, it also plays a vital role in promoting environmental protection and industrial intelligence.

Recently, there are many asteroids in space, and an asteroid may collide with the Earth. This study focuses on asteroid deflection by Kinetic Impact at hypervelocity. When an impactor strikes a target at hypervelocity the momentum transferred to it is greater than the initial impactor momentum due to the crater ejecta thrown in the direction opposite that of the incoming impactor. Momentum enhancement is quantified by β, which is the ratio of the momentum of the initial impactor to the momentum of the target after impact. In the case of aluminum targets, it has been confirmed that there is size scaling, and it is thought that β of rock targets also scale to the impactor size. In this study, the size scale effect of the impactor on β in a rock target was investigated using data analysis and impact simulations. The simulations were performed with a focus on cylindrical shapes as well as spherical shapes. Furthermore, to investigate the relationship between the porosity of the target and the size-scale strength, impact experiments were conducted on a target with a rubble-pile structure containing macropores. The targets were created so that the overall porosity was approximately 30-40 %, and the experiments were carried out at impact speeds of about 2-4 km/s. As a result, at least spherical impactor, the size scale effect was observed for rock materials, but the effect was smaller for porous rock. It was found that for a cylindrical impactor, the momentum enhancement reaches a maximum when its scale size is approximately 1/22 times that of the target. In impact experiments, it was found that β decreased as the porosity of the structure increased. Thus, it is considered that not only micropores but also macropores of the material affect the strength on a size scale. The three-stage synchronous generator is widely use on aircraft due to its reliability. Reducing component weight has consistently been a pivotal focus in aircraft development. Consequently, the integration of a starter-generator system is expected to contribute significantly toward achieving this objective. By proposing a controller with startup and generation functionalities that does not alter the original generator design, this approach facilitates the direct expansion of existing systems to include startup capabilities, thereby enabling more rapid integration and application. There is a trend to employ starter function to further reduce the volume and weight of the electric system which is important for an aircraft. In this paper, a three-stage starter generator control circuit and a multi-physic simulation model is provided to verify the application of a sensorless rotor position estimation and field-oriented control method. © 2024 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

This paper proposes an explicit method for topology optimization of stiffened plate *** present work is devoted to simultaneously optimizing stiffeners’shape,size and layout by seeking the optimal geometry parameters of a series of moving morphable components(MMC).The stiffeners with straight skeletons and the stiffeners with curved skeletons are considered to enhance the modeling and optimization capability of the current *** the stiffeners are represented under the Lagrangian-description framework in a fully explicit way,and the adaptive ground structure method,as well as dynamically updated plate/shell elements,is used to obtain optimized designs with more accurate analysis *** with existing works,the proposed approach provides an explicit description of the ***,a stiffened plate structure with clear stiffener distribution and smooth geometric boundary can be *** numerical examples provided,including straight and curved stiffeners,hierarchical stiffeners,and a stiffened plate with a cutout,validate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed approach.

Bilateral teleoperation system is referred to as a promising technology to extend human actions and intelligence to manipulating objects *** the tracking control of teleoperation systems,velocity measurements are necessary to provide feedback ***,due to hardware technology and cost constraints,the velocity measurements are not always *** addition,the time-varying communication delay makes it challenging to achieve tracking *** paper provides a solution to the issue of real-time tracking for teleoperation systems,subjected to unavailable velocity signals and time-varying communication *** order to estimate the velocity information,immersion and invariance(I&I)technique is employed to develop an exponential stability velocity *** the proposed velocity observer,a linear relationship between position and observation state is constructed,through which the need of solving partial differential and certain integral equations can be ***,the mean value theorem is exploited to separate the observation error terms,and hence,all functions in our observer can be analytically *** the estimated velocity information,a slave-torque feedback control law is presented.A novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is constructed to establish asymptotic tracking *** particular,the relationship between the controller design parameters and the allowable maximum delay values is ***,simulation and experimental results reveal that the proposed velocity observer and controller can guarantee that the observation errors and tracking error converge to zero.
