Traditional assessment indexes could not fully describe offshore wind resources,for the meteorological properties of offshore are more complex than *** a result,the uncertainty of offshore wind power projects would be increased and final economic benefits would be ***,a study on offshore wind resource assessment is carried out,including three processes of“studying data sources,conducting multidimensional indexes system and proposing an offshore wind resource assessment method based on analytic hierarchy process(AHP).First,measured wind data and two kinds of reanalysis data are used to analyze the characteristics and reliability of data ***,indexes such as effective wind speed occurrence,affluent level occurrence,coefficient of variation,neutral state occurrence have been proposed to depict availability,richness,and stability of offshore wind resources,*** with existing parameters(wind power density,dominant wind direction occurrence,water depth,distance to coast),a multidimensional indexes system has been built and on this basis,an offshore wind energy potential assessment method has been ***,the proposed method is verified by the annual energy production of five offshore wind turbines and practical operating data of four offshore wind farms in *** study also compares the ranking results of the AHP model to two multi-criteria decision making(MCDM)models including weighted aggregated sum product assessment(WASPAS)and multi-attribute ideal real comparative analysis(MAIRCA).Results show the proposed method gains well in practical engineering applications,where the economic score values have been considered based on the offshore reasonable utilization hours of the whole life cycle in China.

This paper presents bandpass filter (BPF) comprising substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) and Archimedean spiral slots, achieving ultra-narrowband, low insertion loss and high selectivity in the millimeter-wave band. Strong current disturbances can be obtained by etching Archimedean spiral slots on each surface of the SIW cavity, which excite the narrow-band filtering characteristics for the SIW cavity. In addition, rotating the Archimedean spiral slots can optimize the input impedance characteristics to achieve the desired impedance matching. A pair of metallic vias are loaded laterally on the SIW cavity to optimize the impedance characteristics of the BPF. A unit cell (UC) of the proposed BPF is composed of the SIW cavity, lateral loaded metallic vias, and Archimedean spiral slots. Ultimately, the three SIW unit cells are cascaded together to get better out-of-band rejection characteristics and serve as our final design. The simulation results demonstrates that the proposed BPF has a center frequency of 31.25GHz, insertion loss as low as 1.25dB, 3-dB bandwidth as narrow as 1.12%, and a low profile of 1.18λ×0.51λ, which has strong potential for use in millimeter-wave detectors and radar applications. © 2024 IEEE.

This study concerns the biogas production process from domestic resources as an alternative energy source and its cost. Biogas production from animal manure is one of the alternative utilizations of organic waste that could be implemented easily in rural areas in order to mitigate energy shortage problems or to reduce the gas and energy bills. This paper studies the feasibility of the family's biogas production from animal manure in Palestinian rural areas based on experimental data. A portable biogas digester with a capacity of 60 L was designed and operated for 40 days. The pH value of the manure sample dropped gradually to less than 6, then it raised to 7 on the last day. The experimental data showed that the biogas yield was 0.0389 kg biogas/kg manure and the results of laboratory research indicated that methane percentage in the obtained biogas was equal to 53%. Regarding economical evaluation of construction of a fixed-type biodigester to meet the needs of a Palestinian family from cooking gas, the initial investment was found to be $515, while the simple payback period was about 5 months if the organic fertilizer was sold and about 2.5 years if it was not. © 2022 Begell House Inc.. Learning behavior in legged robots presents a significant challenge due to its inherent instability and complex constraints. Recent research has proposed the use of a large language model (LLM) to generate reward functions in reinforcement learning, thereby replacing the need for manually designed rewards by experts. However, this approach, which relies on textual descriptions to define learning objectives, fails to achieve controllable and precise behavior learning with clear directionality. In this paper, we introduce a new video2reward method, which directly generates reward functions from videos depicting the behaviors to be mimicked and learned. Specifically, we first process videos containing the target behaviors, converting the motion information of individuals in the videos into keypoint trajectories represented as coordinates through a video2text transforming module. These trajectories are then fed into an LLM to generate the reward function, which in turn is used to train the policy. To enhance the quality of the reward function, we develop a video-assisted iterative reward refinement scheme that visually assesses the learned behaviors and provides textual feedback to the LLM. This feedback guides the LLM to continually refine the reward function, ultimately facilitating more efficient behavior learning. Experimental results on tasks involving bipedal and quadrupedal robot motion control demonstrate that our method surpasses the performance of state-of-the-art LLM-based reward generation methods by over 37.6% in terms of human normalized score. More importantly, by switching video inputs, we find our method can rapidly learn diverse motion behaviors such as walking and running. © 2024 The Authors.

Various advanced packaging technologies have been proposed to integrate multiple dies into a package. In the multidie package, a significant amount of inter-die interconnects are used to assemble the dies. The bonding interfaces, e.g., microbumps (ubumps), of the inter-die interconnects are prone to defects during the assembly process. Therefore, it is crucial to test the inter-die interconnects to ensure the quality of the assembly. In this paper, we propose an efficient built-in self-test (BIST) scheme for the testing of inter-die interconnects of chiplet-based ICs. The transmitters/receivers under test are logically arranged as a 2D array. A test algorithm that utilizes alternating row stripe and column stripe test patterns is proposed. These 2D test patterns are then compressed into 1D test patterns such that the test application time can be reduced. Simulation and analysis results show that the proposed BIST scheme can achieve 99.9% test time reduction and save about 53.5% area cost for a 32×64 ubump array in comparison with a typical test scheme, IEEE 1500 test scheme. © 2024 IEEE.

1 Introduction Reliability is defined as the probability that a system or component will perform its required function for a specified period of time under specified operating conditions(Ebeling,2019).Traditional reliability theory assumes that both a system and its components have only two possible states in the operation stage,either perfectly functioning or completely ***,as engineered systems become more sophisticated,involving larger sizes,increased functionality,and greater intelligence,and with advancements in sensing technologies,it has been extensively observed that systems and components exhibit multiple distinct states as they deteriorate over *** failure behavior,damage severity,performance capacity,and operational efficiency of the system and components vary among these states(Lisnianski et al.,2018).It,therefore,necessitates the development of advanced reliability theories and methodologies that are capable of characterizing these systems and components with multi-state nature.

This study simulated the addition of a PV infrastructure with 20GW of power to the Taiwanese power system in accordance with the government's renewable energy policy for 2025. Given these varying PV generation and conversion efficiencies in the summer and winter seasons, this study simulated a PV infrastructure parallel to the power grid to investigate whether the voltage variation, three-phase shortcircuit current, and transient stability of the power system meet the requirements of the Taiwan Power Company Renewable Energy Generation system Parallel Technical Guidelines and the Taiwan Power Company Distribution system Planning Guidelines. Compared with the inertia of traditional generators, the inertia of renewable energy is considerably lower. In particular, the generation of PV power does not involve an electromagnetic rotating machine and thus does not provide inertia support. During generator tripping events, the reduction of system inertia and frequency response may affect the stability of the power system. Therefore, in this study, an example case of a traditional generator tripping event was simulated, and the regional inertia of the power system was calculated. Depending on the resulting reduction in system inertia and its effect on system stability, countermeasures were proposed to install power storage systems in areas with relatively low inertia in northern, central, and southern Taiwan. Finally, a PV power generator tripping simulation was again conducted to verify whether the installation of these power storage systems provided sufficient inertia to maintain the real-time stability and safety of the power system. © 2023 IEEE.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) with Deep Learning (DL) for Tweets Classification includes use of advanced neural network designs to analyse and classify Twitter messages. DL techniques like recurrent neural network (RNN) or transformer-based frameworks like BERT are used to mechanically learn difficult linguistic patterns and contextual info from tweet data. These techniques able to capture subtleties of language with sarcasm, sentiment, and context-specific meanings and making them suitable for tasks like sentiment analysis or topic classification in realm of social media. Leveraging deep symbols learned from great amounts of textual data, these NLP techniques permit precise and nuanced classification of tweets, donating to enhanced information retrieval, sentiment tracking, and trend analysis in dynamic and fast-paced world of social media communication. In this view, this research develops an arithmetic optimization algorithm with deep learning based tweets classification (AOADL-TC) approach for sustainable living. The goal of the AOADL-TC technique is to identify and discriminate different kinds of sentiments that exist in the tweet data. At the initial stage, the AOADL-TC model pre-processes tweet data to convert uniform data into a useful format. For sentiment detection, the AOADL-TC technique applies a parallel bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BiGRU) model. At last, tuning of parameters related to parallel BiGRU model performed by AOA. An wide set of tests carried out to illustrate better performance of AOADL-TC model. The experimental outcomes portrayed that AOADL-TC technique demonstrates the supremacy of the AOADL-TC technique in terms of different evaluation metrics. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Superconducting electrodynamic suspension (EDS) presents numerous advantages, including large suspension gaps, high lift-to-drag ratios, and lower requirements for track irregularities. Recent advancements in superconducting materials have further enhanced the feasibility of this technology, and hence multiple research institutions are actively developing and improving this high-speed rail technology. Superconducting EDS achieves passive suspension and guidance by the interaction between ground null-flux coils and onboard superconducting magnets, forming an electromechanical coupled system. Thus, electromechanical coupling modeling and equivalent experimental methods are essential in evaluating and optimizing this system. This article reviews the research on dynamic characteristics analysis of superconducting EDS, focusing on modeling and experimental methods. Firstly, it revisits the development history of superconducting EDS and the new opportunities brought by advancements in superconducting materials. Secondly, it discusses various modeling approaches for the suspension system, emphasizing their benefits and limitations. Thirdly, it describes equivalent experimental methods and their respective application scenarios. Then, it reviews important conclusions and possible optimization methods related to dynamic performance and electromechanical coupling research. Additionally, the sliding window method is introduced to improve computational efficiency in vehicle dynamics modeling. This article provides insights into the current state and future directions of superconducting EDS research, serving as a valuable reference for researchers and engineers.
