Point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS) is a valuable diagnostic tool for pericardial effusion (PCE). However, the time constraints for trainees and experts pose significant barriers to PoCUS learning. This study aims to develop a deep learning (DL) model for detecting and localizing PCE and to investigate the learning efficacy of using this model as an adjunct in PoCUS training. A total of 101 patients with moderate/large PCE and 104 controls without PCE were included, and the images were extracted from the ultrasound (US) clips. We applied preprocessing techniques, including standardized image sizes and background removal, to reduce interference, and post-processing techniques, including adding filters to refine small effusion regions. We developed three DL models based on U-Net, Res-UNet, and UNet++ and compared their performance. Additionally, 14 emergency medicine residents were recruited to complete classification and segmentation tasks on 10% of randomly selected US images. Personalized feedback from the best-performing DL model was provided. Three months later, the residents annotated another set of images. Their learning performance was also evaluated. The UNet++ algorithm surpassed the other two, attaining an impressive sensitivity of 96%, specificity of 97%, area under the curve (AUC) of 98%, intersection over union (IOU) of 81%, and minimal latency. The overall sensitivity increased by 4% in the classification task after training with the UNet++ model, although there were no statistically significant differences in all evaluation metrics. The UNet++ model achieved a balance between high accuracy, IOU, and latency. Although there were no significant differences in the evaluation metrics after UNet++-assisted learning, the overall sensitivity increased by 4%, indicating an improved ability to recognize true positives and reduce false negatives. This study explores Blockchain technology in the global financial industry using trends analysis, bibliometric analysis, and a literature appraisal using Elsevier Scopus data from 2016 to 2023. The Blockchain in Finance (BCF) study produced 185 publications: 53.5% papers, 45.4% conference proceedings, and 1.1% reviews. Analysis of the subject area revealed three important computer Science, engineering, and Decision Sciences articles. However, source title analysis showed that ACM International Conference Proceeding Series, Sustainability Switzerland, and E3S Web of Conferences publish BCF research most often. According to the stakeholders study, Jon M. Truby and Qatar University (Qatar) are the top BCFin researchers and affiliations with 4% and % publications, respectively. China produces the most research on the topic. Due to active support from funding sources like the Chinese National Natural Science Foundation (NNSF), 18 publications have been funded. Co-occurrence of keywords The investigation indicated that BCFin’s top keywords include Blockchain, Finance, and Supply Chain Finance. Three clusters with 4–8 keywords, 132 linkages, and 866 TLS were found via cluster analysis. Keywords classify the clusters as Integrated Business Solutions (Cluster 1), Digital Commerce Infrastructure (Cluster 2), and Decentralized Financial Network (Cluster 3). The findings indicate that BCFin is a dynamic and influential multidisciplinary study field. BCFin has transformed the global financial sector by improving trust, transaction security, and communication. Virtual memory, with the support of address translation hardware, is a key technique in expanding programmability and memory management in GPUs. However, the nature of the GPU execution model heavily pressures its translation hardware, particularly due to a discrepancy in the behavior of page table walkers and thousands of concurrently running threads. In GPU workloads, multiple threads simultaneously access a number of pages necessitating a substantial number of translations whereas each walker handles only a single walk request at a time. Such a limitation significantly increases the queueing latency of walk requests, which we observe as a major bottleneck for servicing page table walks in GPUs. To tackle this challenge, we investigate a design of page walkers that facilitates multiple walk requests to be handled together in batches. Then, we make the following observations: 1) allowing a page walker to issue beyond a single memory request significantly improves the throughput of walkers, and 2) GPU applications tend to concurrently access pages in wide address ranges. By leveraging the above implications, we propose Marching Page Walks (MPW) that effectively mitigate the contention in GPU page table walkers. MPW scans pending walk requests to identify ones that can be grouped together. Then, MPW batches these requests and concurrently handles them by issuing multiple memory instructions. Experiments show that MPW reduces the queueing latency of page walks by 86.7% and improves GPU performance by 55.6% over the baseline design.

This study investigates the application of clustering algorithms to data collected from color sensors providing frequency signals during the cultivation process. Continuous sampling allowed for real-time data collection, and variations in temperature and humidity were observed to influence signal reception. The dataset's large volume and varying sample sizes necessitated the evaluation of several clustering models for efficient data processing. The experiment tested K-Means, K-Means++, Mini-Batch K-Means, and Bisecting K-Means algorithms. The results reveal that the computation time for each model increased with the number of groups. Specifically, the K-Means, K-Means++, and Mini-Batch K-Means models exhibited shorter computation times, ranging from 0.02 to 0.03 seconds for two-group scenarios, while the Bisecting K-Means algorithm took significantly longer, approximately 0.10 seconds. Despite the variation in processing times, all models performed similarly in terms of clustering quality, with an average Silhouette Score of 0.82. This score indicates that the algorithms effectively separated data points into well-defined groups while maintaining high accuracy in clustering. Additionally, the analysis highlighted the importance of balancing computation time and clustering quality, particularly as the number of clusters increases. These findings suggest that while computational efficiency may vary across models, the clustering quality remains robust, providing valuable insights for data analysis in agricultural sensor networks. The study's results demonstrate that each clustering model is capable of handling large datasets with high accuracy in grouping, making them applicable to real-world agricultural data processing scenarios. Advancements in multi-agent systems (MAS) have enabled swarm-based systems to perform decentralized decision-making and autonomous tasks. However, optimizing their performance while ensuring transparency and interpretability remains a challenge. This paper introduces a framework that combines Bayesian optimization with Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) techniques to enhance both the efficiency and transparency of MAS swarms. The Bayesian optimization framework fine-tunes agent parameters to improve swarm metrics such as energy efficiency, task completion time, and coordination success. The experimental results show significant improvements: a 25% increase in the coordination success rate, a 15% increase in energy efficiency, and a 20 % reduction in task completion time. XAI techniques, including SHAP values, provide interpretable explanations for optimization decisions, improving user trust and understanding. This study demonstrates the efficacy of integrating Bayesian optimization with XAI to create transparent, efficient, and reliable MAS swarms. Future work should address scalability and implications in dynamic environments.

Accurately synthesizing talking face videos and capturing fine facial features for individuals with long hair presents a significant challenge. To tackle these challenges in existing methods, we propose a decomposed per-embedding Gaussian fields (DEGSTalk), a 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS)-based talking face synthesis method for generating realistic talking faces with long hairs. Our DEGSTalk employs Deformable Pre-Embedding Gaussian Fields, which dynamically adjust pre-embedding Gaussian primitives using implicit expression coefficients. This enables precise capture of dynamic facial regions and subtle expressions. Additionally, we propose a Dynamic Hair-Preserving Portrait Rendering technique to enhance the realism of long hair motions in the synthesized videos. Results show that DEGSTalk achieves improved realism and synthesis quality compared to existing approaches, particularly in handling complex facial dynamics and hair preservation. Visually impaired people encounter many challenges in the real world, LEADOW is a proposed mobile app that empowers individuals with vision impairments to achieve independent mobility. It primarily aims to establish a supportive and accessible environment by guiding them to their desired destinations within buildings, considering the mobility challenges that blind and visually impaired persons face when moving around. The innovation of this user-friendly app facilitates indoor navigation using Bluetooth hardware transmitters called "Beacons" strategically placed throughout the building. The user’s smartphone receives Bluetooth signals from these installed beacons, which are then interpreted by the app to determine the user’s location accurately. After selecting their destination, the user is provided with audio instructions to effectively guide them towards it. LEADOW overcomes the limitations of other existing applications, by providing an easy-to-use indoor navigation system which significantly enhances the life of people with visual impairment. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Tumors in the brains may be Benign or malignant but they are growths of cells in the brain. Aches, seizures, vomiting, dementia, and impaired vision are generic symptoms of the ailment. In early diagnosis, detection of the disease and determining the right treatment method for the patients MRI scans are important. There are a number of Deep Learning-based detection techniques available, however their accuracy and error rates may be low. This study uses a Random-Coupled Neural Network with Cat Hunting Optimization (RCNNet-CHOpt) to identify and classify brain tumor in order to get around these issues. Only one kind of BraTS dataset is used by the suggested approach: The filters to enhance image quality and reduce noise, the input images are pre-processed using the Adaptive and Propagated Mesh Filtering (APMF). This is followed by feature extraction and classification using Mellin Transform (M-Trans) with Random-Coupled Neural Network (R-CNN). When combined, these two networks can accurately classify the images and identify important elements. Finally, to increase accuracy, the weight parameter of R-CNN is modified using the Cat Hunting Optimization (CHO) technique. The proposed method has a 99.8% recall and a 99.9% accuracy rate, outperforming existing methods. Among the primary advantages of the RCNNet-CHOpt are decreased false-positive rates and enhanced precision in identifying intricate brain tumor formations. Hence, it is an especially useful tool for clinical use in the identification of brain tumor because most of these applications manage large volumes of medical data.

Wireless power transfer (WPT) presents a promising approach for charging electric vehicles (EVs), offering increased convenience, reliability, and safety for EV customers. Recently, the incorporation of multiple coil structures in wireless charging systems has addressed various operational challenges, enhanced power transfer, and provided a scalable solution for EVs. However, cross-coupling issues and space limitation problems arise when multiple coils are introduced to the WPT system. In this paper, a novel integrated compact coupler is proposed, including two naturally decoupled coils on the transmitter side, while both are coupled with the receiver coil to improve the power transfer capability of the system. ANSYS Maxwell is employed to simulate the proposed coupler and evaluate its performance under misalignment operations. The proposed wireless charging system inherently detects misalignment direction based on the variation of output voltage with respect to x-misalignment. As a result, the experimental prototype of the designed wireless WPT system presents a peak efficiency of 97.08% at 1.147-kW output power for an air gap of 120 mm under fully-aligned condition. Additionally, the designed compensation coil can transfer power of 243.76-W under fully-aligned condition and increases reliability in power transfer during misalignment operations. © 2013 IEEE.

Prolonged leaf wetness is a critical factor influencing the development and spread of plant diseases, particularly fungal pathogens, which thrive in moist environments. These pathogens negatively impact crop health, photosynthesis, nutrient absorption, and agricultural productivity. Accurately measuring leaf wetness duration (LWD) is essential for early disease detection and mitigation strategies. Leaf wetness sensors (LWS) are designed to detect wetness on leaf surfaces. Traditional LWS, fabricated using printed circuit boards (PCBs), have been extensively studied and are commercially available, such as the PHYTOS-31. However, flexible LWS are preferred due to their ability to conform to the natural shape of leaves, improving accuracy, better contact resistance, and durability under field conditions. However, these sensors exhibited limitations such as electrode oxidation and peeling, reducing stability and wetness sensitivity over time. To overcome these challenges, this study investigates replacing conventional metal-based interdigitated electrodes (IDEs) with graphene-based IDEs, leveraging graphene's superior electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties. The fabricated flexible graphene LWS has been evaluated for its sensitivity, response time, hysteresis, temperature response, and stability, which are about ≈26,000%, ≈ 35 seconds, ≈ 5%, ≈ 6.79%, and 5 months, respectively. Benchmarking against the commercially available PHYTOS-31 LWS demonstrated an absolute error of ±3%, confirming the reliability and accuracy. These results validate the potential of graphenebased flexible LWS for accurate and long-term monitoring of leaf wetness duration in agricultural and ecological applications. © 2017 IEEE.
