This paper deals with the implementation of a predictor control law and the suboptimal digital redesign for a continuous-time plant with a delayed input. It is shown that the closed-loop eigenvalues of the delayed system designed via a predicted-state feedback controller are identical to those of the non-delayed system with the same gain matrix based on the non-predicted state feedback. Thus, the well-developed design methods of linear quadratic regulators for continuous-time non-delayed systems can be indirectly applied to delayed-input systems. Moreover, for practical implementation by digital computer, we derive a suboptimal digital redesign of the delayed-input system using the predictor control.

In this paper a three-step active deburring strategy is proposed based on fuzzy logic and force feedback control. A strategy for automatic contour following is developed to identify unknown workpiece contours, to automatically generate desired robot motions, and to detect unknown burr sizes and positional inaccuracies. Under the deburring strategy the robot motion and force control are planned actively according to the detected burr sizes and positional inaccuracies. A fuzzy man-machine interface is built to make use of the knowledge of human operators to simplify the burr detection. A fuzzy model of the deburring process is developed to support the planning of deburring procedures. Implementation of and experiments with the proposed strategies are described.

Integrating high-penetration random photovoltaics (PVs) into the active distribution network (ADN) often causes overvoltage issues, which can even trigger ADN failures. To accommodate high-penetration PVs integration while maintaining economic efficiency and flexibility of ADN, a bi-level collaborative expansion planning model considering uncertainty generation and reduction is proposed in this paper. Based on described uncertainty scenarios of PV and load obtained by proposed Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network with Gradient Penalty (WGAN-GP) and K-means method, the upper level firstly configures soft open points to adjust the ADN topology, then optimizes the siting and sizing of PVs, electric vehicle charging stations, energy storage systems, and active management resources (on-load tap changers, and static var compensators) with minimum investment cost. Lower level uses multi-objective mixed-integer second-order cone programming (MISOCP) model with network loss, PV curtailment and voltage deviation of different attributes to optimize ADN scheduling. To solve this planning model, a hybrid algorithm that integrates an adaptive particle swarm optimization algorithm with SOCP is proposed, employing the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) to address the multi-objective issue. Finally, the presented model was tested in the actual rural 41-bus and urban 40-bus ADN of Gansu, China, demonstrating that total costs decreased by 14.4 % and 12.5 % respectively compared to plans without active management resources.

The controller and observer block-bidiagonal-Frobenius forms for a class of multivariable systems are presented. These can he employed in the state-feedback pole-placement and state-observer designs, with the advantage that they do not need to compute the characteristic matrix polynomial coefficients as required when using the block canonical forms. Moreover, the proposed method can be employed in the design problems for general multivariable systems by using appropriate artificial input and output. The gain matrices are given directly from the block-bidiagonal-Frobenius form without any computation.

An optimal servodesign for single-input - single-output systems by the frequency-domain approach is suggested. The servomechanism is estimator-based controlled with feedforward of the reference input, which provides an additional design freedom for the improvement (optimization) of the transient response. The cost function to be minimized is the integral-squared tracking error. The suggested design procedure requires the residue evaluations and n+1 dimensional matrix operations for an nth-order plant. It theoretically provides a noniterative approach to the exact solution of the optimal design problem without any iterative approximation algorithm.

The busbars in high power neutral point clamped three-level inverters are modeled using the Maxwell Q3D Extractor software, which is based on the partial element equivalent circuits method. The equivalent circuits of the busbars and devices model are simulated in the electric simulator PSlM to analyze the effects of the parasitic inductance on the switching characteristics of the integrated gate commutated thyristor (IGCT) in different topology positions. The simulation results agree well with the measured impedance analyzer results and the IGCT test results, which proves the effectiveness of the modeling method for the large, complex busbars.

This paper deals with a position-measurement system which can be shared by multiple robots. This system can be applied to multiple automated vehicles working together, to robots working in a wide and open field, to Right systems and so on. We solve this problem by using the concept of an 'advanced active sensing system', and in practice, we propose an 'enclosing signal field' for two-dimensional position measurement. In this paper, we consider the generalized location of the signal-sending. devices and multiple sensors. Also, precise measurement using both the adjustment of the luminance ratio and initial phase shifting is presented. First, we propose a way to construct the enclosing signal field for multiple observing points, and consider the properties of this field by analysing the measurement equation. Next, we apply this field to precise position measurement using the zooming technique. Finally, a multiple zooming system is also proposed.
