This paper presents a generalized and minimal realization algorithm for constructively determining generalized state-space representation from a so-called column (row)-pseudoproper or a column(row)-proper or a nonstrictly-proper right(left) matrix fraction description (MFD). The realized state-space representation form with a special coordinate is proved to be controllable and observable in the sense of Rosenbrock and Cobb;besides, the dimension of the system after realization is equal to the determinantal degree of the given right(left) MFD in the normal sense.

A two-stage observer-based controller design of discrete two-time-scale (DTTS) systems is presented in this paper. The necessary and sufficient conditions for this kind of controlled system are all addressed. The robust slow-observer-based (SOB) controller is investigated in detail. For a fast sampling rate model, prediction type observer-based controller and SOB controller are proposed. Both prediction type and current estimation type observer-based controller and SOB controllers are developed for a slow rate model of DTTS systems. A twin-engine aviation aircraft is utilized to illustrate the derived schemes.

This paper addresses the robust stability problem for the linear multiple time-delay system subjected to nonlinear time-varying perturbations. By means of complex Lyapunov equations, norm and matrix measure inequalities, a new approach is proposed to solve such problems. Several new criteria, delay-dependent or delay-independent, are derived to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the uncertain multiple time-delay systems. The stability decaying rate of such systems is also investigated. The main feature of the developed results is that it is not necessary to solve any troublesome Lyapunov equation even though the Lyapunov stability test is used. Furthermore, the generality of these results is assured by comparing with those presented in the literature.

The quantum-mechanical formulation of a class of stochastic optimal control problems is investigated and two versions of non-linear Schrödinger equation are derived. First, a wave-function is introduced which connects the probability density function of a diffusion process with the minimum cost functional of the stochastic optimal control problem associated with the diffusion process. It is then demonstrated that this wave-function satisfies a kind of Schrödinger-Langevin equation in quantum physics. Finally, the probabilistic interpretation of the wave-function is discussed.

The effects of the mat preprocessing method on total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) emission of car mat are studied in this paper. An appropriate TVOC emission period for car mat is suggested. The emission factors for to- tal volatile organic compounds from three kinds of new car mats are discussed. The car mats are preprocessed by washing, baking and ventilation. When car mats are preprocessed by washing, the TVOC emission for all samples tested are lower than that preprocessed in other methods. The TVOC emission is in stable situation for a mini- mum of 4 days. The TVOC emitted from some samples may exceed 25001ag/kg. But the TVOC emitted from washed Polyamide (PA) and wool mat is less than 25001ag/kg. The emission factors of total volatile organic com- pounds (TVOC) are experimentally investigated in the case of different preprocessing methods. The air tempera- ture in environment chamber and the water temperature for washing are important factors influencing on emission of car mats.

This paper presents a method for model conversion of a continuous-time (discrete-time) uncertain linear system with input time-delay to an equivalent discrete-time (continuous-time) uncertain linear time-delay model. The bilinear approximation method and interval arithmetic operations are proposed for converting continuous-time (discrete-time) uncertain input time-delay models to equivalent discrete-time (continuous-time) uncertain input time-delay models. Here, we also present a method to estimate tighter error bounds of discrete-time (continuous-time) structured uncertainties based on the given continuous-time (discrete-time) structures uncertainties. By applying the above proposed methods, the converted model tightly encloses the original system;consequently, the analysis and design can be carried out using the obtained models instead of the original systems. This paper deals with the implementation of a predictor control law and the suboptimal digital redesign for a continuous-time plant with a delayed input. It is shown that the closed-loop eigenvalues of the delayed system designed via a predicted-state feedback controller are identical to those of the non-delayed system with the same gain matrix based on the non-predicted state feedback. Thus, the well-developed design methods of linear quadratic regulators for continuous-time non-delayed systems can be indirectly applied to delayed-input systems. Moreover, for practical implementation by digital computer, we derive a suboptimal digital redesign of the delayed-input system using the predictor control.
