As one of the most potential renewable energy systems, the offshore wind power has broad research prospects in the world. To ensure the safe operation of the grid, it is very important to study the adaptability of protection of the offshore wind power system. For this reason, in this article, the topology of offshore wind power system is introduced firstly. On this basis, the control strategy and the fault characteristics of the system are analyzed. Second, the protection principles of directional relay, phase selection relay, distance protection and pilot protection are deduced, and the adaptability of the above protections in offshore wind power system are analyzed according to combining the fault characteristics of the system and the protection principle. The PSCAD/EMTDC simulation results verify the effectiveness of the conclusion of the adaptability analysis, it can provide a theoretical basis for the construction of the protection scheme of offshore wind power system. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper examines the event-triggered consensus of the multi-agent system on matrix-weighted networks, where the interdependencies among higher-dimensional states of neighboring agents are characterized by matrix-weighted edges in the network. Specifically, a novel distributed dynamic event-triggered coordination strategy is proposed for this category of generalized networks, in which an auxiliary system is employed for each agent to dynamically adjust the triggering threshold, which plays an essential role in guaranteeing that the triggering time sequence does not exhibit Zeno behavior. Distributed event-triggered control protocols are proposed to guarantee leaderless consensus for multi-agent systems on matrix-weighted networks, respectively. Remarkably, the spectrum of matrix-valued weights is crucial in event-triggered mechanism design for matrix-weighted networks, generalizing those results only applicable for scalar-weighted networks. The proposed approach allows each agent to broadcast and receive information only at its triggering instants. Finally, simulation examples are provided to demonstrate the theoretical results. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Liquid metal-based microchannel heat sinks (MCHSs) suffer from the low heat capacity of coolant, resulting in an excessive temperature rise of coolant and heat sink when dealing with high-power heat dissipation. In this paper, it was found that expanded space at the top of fins could distribute the heat inside microchannels, reducing the temperature rise of coolant and heat sink. The orthogonal experiments revealed that expanding the top space of channels yielded similar temperature reductions to changing the channel width. The flow and thermal modeling of expanded microchannel heat sink (E-MCHS) were analyzed by both using the 3-dimensional (3D) numerical simulation and the 1-dimensional (1D) thermal resistance model. The fin efficiency of E-MCHS was derived to improve the accuracy of the 1D thermal resistance model. The heat conduction of liquid metal in Z direction and the heat convection between the top surface of fins and the liquid metal could reduce the total thermal resistance (Rt). The above process was effective for microchannels with low channel aspect ratio, low mean velocity (Um) or long heat sink length. The maximum thermal resistance reduction in the example of this paper reached 36.0%. The expanded space endowed the heat sink with lower pressure, which might further reduce the pumping power (P). This rule was feasible both when fins were truncated (h_(2) < 0, h_(2) is the height of expanded channel for E-MCHS) and when over plate was raised (h_(2) > 0).

Existing energy storage operation strategies take renewable energy unit consumption as the main goal, and often operate in conjunction with renewable energy projects, resulting in low energy storage utilization rate and insufficient driving force for energy storage operators to develop independent energy storage. However, with the implementation of independent energy storage operation support policies, the regional peak shaving service market gradually expands to include energy storage. Energy storage can have a positive impact on the economy of the power system as well as its utilization rate. According to the historical East Inner Mongolia Power Grid operational data, this paper established the annual chronological operation simulation model of peak shaving market participation by energy storage. By analyzing and summarizing the results of energy storage operation state obtained from the annual operation simulation, the energy storage operation strategy of taking part in peak shaving market based on system supply and demand margin was proposed. The two charge and two discharge or three charge and two discharge strategy, which are the most common operation modes of operation simulation, are compared with the proposed operation strategy. It is evident that energy storage's involvement in system peak shaving can lessen thermal units' peak shaving pressure, enhance the benefits of energy storage as a market participant for auxiliary services and the system's overall efficiency in terms of electricity consumption. © 2024 IEEE.

Nowadays, intelligent vehicles are becoming more and more important in the transportation field. What makes such a vehicle vulnerable is the number of interconnected components that individually have a strong security but can cause weakness points when they are connected. The challenge is to design and build a powerful system that uses both cyber-physical components. The proposed model is a system with integrated modules for fingerprint and face recognition to certify that a driver has the right to access the vehicle. The aim is to develop a security system for intelligent vehicles that can be also a secure keyless entry system using the power of biometrics. When a driver approaches the car, a sensor will activate the recognition modules. Only after the total completion of the recognition process the driver is authenticated and has the right to use the vehicle. We simulated real-time face detection and eye tracking using Matlab 2020a. Face detection is performed using Viola-Jones algorithms and the tracking is made with bbox-es. Besides normal conditions, other tests were made to challenge the algorithm, for example: angle rotations, the use of glasses, face mask, glasses and face mask together. © 2021 IEEE.

In the wet semiconductor process, abrasive nanoparticles are widely used in the chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process to polish wafer surfaces for high planarization. During polishing, nanoparticles move with a high-speed three-dimensional (3D) position in the solution. In the 3D particles's moving positions, Z is a perpendicular longitudinal distance between the surface to the nanoparticle that plays a significant role in polishing, which could not be measured by general microscopy without longitudinal scanning. To understand nanoparticle phenomena near-surface, we have proposed and developed the apparatus with real-time fastmotion tracking on optical multi-wavelength evanescent fields microscopy to measure the 3D motion of the nanoparticle in water without scanning. In euspen's 2020, we could verify the relative distance ?Z of nanoparticles in water, but the absolute distance Z is unknown yet. In this manuscript, we have therefore developed an invisible nano-step height in water to verify the absolute height Z of an individual nanoparticle. The invisible nano-step height in water is made from an optical resin with a refractive index of 1.35 that is close to a refractive index of water to avoid unnecessary light during experimental verification. The nano-step height was less than 100 nm on a glass surface, fabricated using nanoimprint lithography. Polystyrene f100 nm standard particles in water were used to verify the height Z. The results of height Z of nanoparticles could be measured less than 100 nm with the measurement uncertainty ±10 nm (2s), which is related to the interferometer result of the nano-step height. © European Society for Precision engineering and Nanotechnology, Conference Proceedings - 22nd International Conference and Exhibition, EUSPEN 2022. The paper proposes a game, EverydayFantasy, based on the principles of serious games, game mechanics and gamification and intended for young people with cognitive behavior issues. The game is a mobile computing application in mental healthcare, in the architecture of which is integrated the connection to a database through a server and the use of dedicated APIs such as the one for locating on the map. The game creates a fantasy environment superimposed on the real environment in which the player is motivated to move, socialize and solve different challenges, all to improve his estimated state.

Risk-Aware Wasserstein Distributionally Robust control of Vessels in Natural Waterways

In the realm of maritime transportation, autonomous vessel navigation in natural inland waterways faces persistent challenges due to unpredictable natural factors. Existing scheduling algorithms fall short in handling these uncertainties, compromising both safety and efficiency. Moreover, these algorithms are primarily designed for non-autonomous vessels, leading to labor-intensive operations vulnerable to human error. To address these issues, this study proposes a risk-aware motion control approach for vessels that accounts for the dynamic and uncertain nature of tide islands in a distributionally robust manner. Specifically, a model predictive control method is employed to follow the reference trajectory in the time-space map while incorporating a risk constraint to prevent grounding accidents. To address uncertainties in tide islands, a novel modeling technique represents them as stochastic polytopes. Additionally, potential inaccuracies in waterway depth are addressed through a risk constraint that considers the worst-case uncertainty distribution within a Wasserstein ambiguity set around the empirical distribution. Using sensor data collected in the Guadalquivir River, we empirically demonstrate the performance of the proposed method through simulations on a vessel. As a result, the vessel successfully navigates the waterway while avoiding grounding accidents, even with a limited dataset of observations. This stands in contrast to existing non-robust controllers, highlighting the robustness and practical applicability of the proposed approach. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Localization using a monocular camera in the pre-built LiDAR point cloud map has drawn increasing attention in the field of autonomous driving and mobile robotics. However, there are still many challenges (e.g. difficulties of map storage, poor localization robustness in large scenes) in accurately and efficiently implementing cross-modal localization. To solve these problems, a novel pipeline termed LHMap-loc is proposed, which achieves accurate and efficient monocular localization in LiDAR maps. Firstly, feature encoding is carried out on the original LiDAR point cloud map by generating offline heat point clouds, by which the size of the original LiDAR map is compressed. Then, an end-to-end online pose regression network is designed based on optical flow estimation and spatial attention to achieve real-time monocular visual localization in a pre-built map. In addition, a series of experiments have been conducted to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method. Our code is available at: https://***/IRMVLab/LHMap-loc.

This study aims to develop an image-processing-based ping-pong training robot to facilitate effective practice for ping-pong players. In the developed system, the image of the ping-pong player is processed from the camera integrated into the robot, the player's position is determined and the ball is directed to areas that are difficult for the player to reach. The reason for launching the ball into difficult areas is to improve the players' physical and strategic abilities. In the process of throwing the ball, the ball is placed in the hopper, driven from the hopper to the launch point with the help of a servo motor, and launched with the help of two DC motors. Experimental results confirm that the robot accurately detects the player's position and successfully directs the ball to the intended target area. Furthermore, the findings demonstrate that this system, which integrates image processing and robotic control technologies, provides a robust and adaptable training tool for ping-pong players.
