This paper sets out to develop an efficient probabilistic optimal power flow (POPF) algorithm to assess the influence of wind power on power grid. Given a set of wind data at multiple sites, the marginal distribution is fitted by a newly developed generalized Johnson system, the dependence structure of wind speeds is matched by the flexible Liouville copula. In order to lower the computational burden for solving POPF model, a Lattice sampling technique is developed to generate wind samples at multiple sites, and a Logistic mixture model is proposed to fit distributions of POPF outputs, which can quantify the effect of wind speed uncertainty on power grid. Finally, the proposed methods are illustrated by case studies on the IEEE 118-bus system. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of different Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) models for administering Propofol and Remifentanil, two critical agents in anesthesia. Initially, different PK models were introduced: one for Propofol based on the Schnider model and another for Remifentanil using the Minto model. Alternatively, both drugs were modeled using the Eleveld models. The PK-PD models were integrated into a closed-loop control system using model predictive control (MPC) with disturbances to control the Bispectral index (BIS) and the Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS). The methodology involved simulating the anesthetic agents in the open-source patient simulator (2 inputs, 2 outputs) with 12 patient datasets in a controlled environment to simulate the patient response variability, allowing for a detailed analysis of the model's performance in maintaining optimal drug concentrations. The primary focus was on the system's ability to adapt to surgical disturbances, a key challenge in anesthesia management, and whether a different modeling of drugs can have an impact on their effects. The results indicated significant differences in the performance of the two models configurations. The Eleveld model for Propofol showed less usage of drugs to maintain the desired BIS value. Concluding that this comparative analysis offers a valuable reference for selecting appropriate modeling approaches in the development of advanced control strategies in anesthesia.

High performance collaborative tracking problem, requiring a group of independent subsystems to generate a global output that can precisely track the desired reference in a repetitive manner, has found lots of applications in practice. However, for such an important control task, existing iterative learning control (ILC) methods have not considered the constraint on each subsystem's output, which leads to potential risk within the control process. This paper proposes a novel optimisation based ILC method to address the high performance collaborative tracking problem with output constraints. The proposed ILC framework can guarantee not only each subsystem's output constraint is always satisfied during the control process, but also the monotonic convergence of a well-defined performance index to a possibly minimum value. To avoid huge computational complexity for large scale systems, we further apply the idea of the alternative direction method of multipliers (ADMM) to implement the proposed ILC frame-work in a decentralised manner, which allows the resulting decentralised methods to be applied to large scale and changing systems. Moreover, the decentralised ILC method proposed in this paper is suitable for non-minimum phase, heterogeneous and/or homogeneous systems, which is appealing in practice. Convergence properties of the proposed ILC algorithms are analysed rigorously, and numerical examples are given to demonstrate the algorithms' effectiveness.

This paper introduces a novel approach to model and stabilize a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine (FOWT) by employing Oscillating Water Columns (OWC) as an active structural control system. The innovative concept involves designing a new floating barge-like platform with integrated OWCs on opposite sides of the platform to mitigate undesired oscillations of the system. These OWCs counteract the bending forces caused by wind on the tower and waves on the barge platform. To synchronize the opposing forces with the system’s tilting, a proposed Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System-based airflow control strategy is employed. Through manipulation of the barge platform’s pitch angle, the ANFIS airflow control system adjusts the valves on either side, opening one and closing the other accordingly. Simulation results, compared with a standard FOWT demonstrate the effectiveness of the ANFIS airflow control. It is shown to be superior in reducing platform pitching and the fore-aft translation of the tower top. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This paper proposes a method for certifying the local asymptotic stability of a given nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) by using Sum-of-Squares (SOS) programming to search for a partially quadratic Lyapunov Function (LF). The proposed method is particularly well suited to the stability analysis of ODEs with high dimensional state spaces. This is due to the fact that partially quadratic LFs are parametrized by fewer decision variables when compared with general SOS LFs. The main contribution of this paper is using the Center Manifold Theorem to show that partially quadratic LFs that certify the local asymptotic stability of a given ODE exist under certain conditions.

Modern normative technical documentation in the field of design and operation of power facilities [1] imposes new requirements on current transformers (CTs) operation. The technical characteristics of CTs and the connected relay protection devices as a whole must ensure the correct operation of the devices during short-circuits (SCs), including when an aperiodic current component occurs. This circumstance primarily applies to newly constructed and reconstructed power facilities. The process of creating design documentation for them must be carried out taking into account the new requirements, for which GOST R 58669-2019 [2] was developed and approved. According to it, in addition to the existing tests of selected CTs, it is necessary to perform calculations of the time to saturation of the magnetic core of each CT winding, high-speed relay protection devices are connected to which. The obtained time is compared with the minimum time required for the correct operation of the connected relay protection devices. Difficulties often occur in coordinating the characteristics of CTs selected at the design stage and the results of calculating the time to saturation of CT magnetic cores at the detailed design stage. Negative test results lead to the need to adjust the design characteristics of CTs and to additional labor costs for their approval. One of the solutions to the problem encountered in design practice is intentionally inflating the characteristics of CTs at the design stage in order to successfully pass the time to saturation test at the detailed design stage. It leads to unjustified financial costs and non-optimal selection of CTs. Therefore, it is relevant to develop methods for calculating CT characteristics taking into account the new requirements.

In the subject of corpus linguistics, this study explores the use of transformer-based neural networks to the problems of predictive text production in multilingual contexts. The Transformer architecture presents a viable framework for natural language processing problems because of its reputation for capturing complex patterns and long-range dependencies in sequential data. The research employs a two-phase approach, whereby the Transformer is first pre-Trained using a variety of multilingual corpora. This helps the model learn representations that are independent of language, which makes it easier for it to adapt to various linguistic circumstances. The model is then fine-Tuned using language-specific datasets to improve its ability to produce linguistically nuanced and contextually appropriate text. The study looks into how different model architectures, training methods, and hyperparameters affect how well the suggested multilingual predictive text generation system performs. Evaluation measures are used to evaluate the model's performance in several languages, including linguistic diversity measurements, BLEU scores, and perplexity. The overall accuracy, calculated across all languages, stands at 80.3%, indicating the model's robust cross-lingual generalization and its effectiveness in capturing diverse linguistic nuances The efficacy and generalization of Transformer-based models are improved across a wide range of languages to handle linguistic diversity. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the robust fault-tolerant control issue for a type of periodic piecewise time-varying systems (PPTVSs). The PPTVS is modeled considering the coexistence of external disturbances, structural parameter perturbations, and actuator failures in the system. Stability analysis is conducted for the considered PPTVS, and a sufficient condition concerning the exponential stability of the closed-loop system is given. Through a matrix polynomial approach capable of decoupling time-varying parameters, the robust fault-tolerant controller synthesis is transformed into a convex optimization problem. Flexible controller gains are enabled through selectable subinterval partitioning parameters. A sufficient condition is presented for maintaining the exponential stability, achieving H∞ disturbance attenuation, and obtaining a tractable robust fault-tolerant controller. Simulation verification using a multi-input multi-output PPTVS model shows that the designed controller can maintain the exponential stability under actuator failures, satisfy the H∞ performance index, and exhibiting robustness against structural parameter perturbations. © 2023 IEEE.

This research provides an objective for a new approach to increase the hybrid Savonius-Darrieus Tip Speed Ratio range in a low-wind speed experiment (0–12 m/s) by considering the effect of power loss from the DC generator used. The models used are hybrid Savonius-Darrieus and single Darrieus with 4 blades. 2 stages of Savonius with 0.2 overlap and a 135° bucket angle are used as internal rotors, while the external rotor is a NREL S809 Darrieus airfoil with a cord length of 7 cm. A DC generator with a maximum voltage of 12 V is used. The friction, copper, and iron loss coefficients of the DC generator are 4.131, and 0.013, respectively. In the low wind speed experiment, the maximum Tip Speed Ratio that can be measured is around 1. Furthermore, by applying the improvement method in measurement, which involves applying constant current and variable voltage, the Tip Speed Ratio can reach 3.5-4. Thus, according to the findings, the hybrid Savonius-Darrieus and single Darrieus have maximum Power Coefficients of 0.30 at the Tip Speed Ratio of 1.5 and 0.33 at the Tip Speed Ratio of 3.3, respectively.

Path planning algorithms are current research hotspots. Heuristic algorithms that can solve dynamic environment problems are gradually becoming the mainstream research direction. The D∗ algorithm, as one of the new heuristic algorithms, has the advantages of being more computationally efficient than the A ∗ algorithm and being able to solve dynamic problems, and has played an important role in two-dimensional path planning projects such as the NASA Mars rover. But its theoretical research and practical application in 3D environment are very rare. In this context, this paper carries out an in-depth study of the path planning problem based on the D∗ algorithm, and completes the theoretical derivation and simulation process in 2D and 3D environments. In this paper, a complex random 2D map is established by random generation, and the simulation of D∗ algorithm is realized on the map with the help of Python language, which realizes the finding of the relative optimal path. Then, in order to study the feasibility of D∗ solving in 3D environment, the simulation of D∗ algorithm under 3D map is realized with the help of Python and Unity3d. The research results show that the simulation results are good, which is valuable for the theoretical research and practical application of heuristic algorithms, and plays a role in the application of robot path planning algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.
