In Ivanovo State Power engineering University (ISPEU, Ivanovo, Russia) digital instrument current and voltage transformers (DCVTs) has developed. Numerous studies and tests of DCVTs have been carried out; these devices already have operating experience in existing electrical facilities. However, some areas of application of DCVTs require additional research. The article presents a methodology for experimental study of 6(10) kV DCVTs under conditions of arc intermittent single-phase ground faults, a diagram of a test installation, as well as the results of testing the methodology. The article presents the quantitative characteristics of the modes obtained in laboratory conditions. The modes of arc intermittent single-phase ground faults and ferroresonance were simulated using electromagnetic measuring voltage transformers in the installation. However, during the experiments, some shortcomings in the methodology of the experiment were revealed. The article also indicates measures to improve the methodology for conducting further experimental studies of DCVTs.

In this paper, using tools from graph theory we provide verifiable necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique hydraulic equilibrium in district heating systems of meshed topology and containing multiple heat sources. Even though numerous publications have addressed the design of efficient algorithms for numerically finding hydraulic equilibria in the general context of water distribution networks, this is not the case for the analysis of existence and uniqueness. Moreover, most of the existing work dealing with these aspects exploit the equivalence between the nonlinear algebraic equations describing the hydraulic equilibria and the KKT conditions of a suitably defined nonlinear convex optimization problem. Differently, this paper proposes necessary and sufficient graph-theoretic conditions on the actuator placement for the existence and uniqueness of a hydraulic equilibrium, independent of the actuators' control objective. An example based on a representative district heating network is considered to illustrate the key aspects of our contribution, and an explicit formulation of the steady state solution is given for the case in which pressure drops through pipes are linear with respect to the flow rate.

An energy model of an electrohydraulic complex has been developed. It allows analyzing the energy processes in the power channel in dynamic modes during the development of cavitation and turbulent oscillations in the pipeline network. It has been shown that the nature of energy processes in the considered cases is periodic constant power fluctuations in the analyzed time interval. The variable component in technological and energy signals of the electrohydraulic complex has been assessed. Their frequency analysis has been performed. The coefficient of power controllability of the electrohydraulic complex and its critical values, whereat the development of emergency modes is possible, have been determined. © 2022 IEEE.

Robust adaptive control of hypersonic flight vehicle with asymmetric AOA constraint

This paper investigates the state-constrained controller design of a hypersonic flight vehicle(HFV) based on an asymmetric barrier Lyapunov function(ABLF). The robust adaptive back-stepping controller with integral terms is applied for the HFV longitudinal dynamics. Considering the asymmetric angle of attack(AOA) constraint caused by the unique structure and scramjet, the controller is modified by constructing an ABLF, where the asymmetric constraint on AOA tracking error is introduced. Combined with the constraint on virtual control, the AOA is restricted to a predefined asymmetric interval. The system stability and the AOA constraint are guaranteed via Lyapunov analysis. Simulation results verify that the AOA can be kept in the given asymmetric interval while the altitude reference signal is tracked.

The integration of visuotactile sensor technology with endoscopy enables the provision of tactile information for minimally invasive surgeries and other operations. This paper proposes a real-time sensing framework for contact deformation pattern shape, providing a foundation for precise perception in miniaturized visuotactile sensors. Specifically, we first construct a Deformation Pattern shape Descriptor (DPSD) and then track the key points in the descriptor using optical flow to obtain contact deformation shape information. Through extensive qualitative and quantitative experiments, our proposed algorithm achieves an average perception accuracy of around 83.81% for contact pattern shapes. It demonstrates consistent perception accuracy across various contact force magnitudes, directions, and scenarios, highlighting its robustness. Additionally, compared to traditional marker-level methods, it achieves a notable 46.5% improvement in displacement field perception accuracy. This research elevates tactile perception to the dimension of contact pattern shape sensing and has the potential for application in miniaturized visual tactile sensors. © 2024 IEEE.

We study stochastic policy gradient methods from the perspective of control-theoretic limitations. Our main result is that ill-conditioned linear systems in the sense of Doyle inevitably lead to noisy gradient estimates. We also give an example of a class of stable systems in which policy gradient methods suffer from the curse of dimensionality. Finally, we show how our results extend to partially observed systems.

This paper focuses on the problem of resilient phase angle stabilization and frequency synchronization in converter-based microgrids, utilizing phasor measurement units (PMUs), in the presence of false data injection (FDI) cyberattacks. The uniformly bounded cyber-attack signals are inserted to desynchronize converters and violate frequency constraints by manipulating control input channels. To tackle this issue, a resilient and robust cooperative angular control scheme is proposed by modifying the conventional angular control method and incorporating some auxiliary states interconnecting with physical states. By presenting the converter dynamics along with the proposed controller as a port-Hamiltonian (pH) system, the design considerations of the interconnection matrices are outlined. Theoretical analysis using input-output passivity and $H_{\infty}$ norm performance index are carried out to guarantee asymptotic stability and resilient frequency synchronization against FDI attacks. The performance and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme are evaluated through numerical simulations

Periodic-Enhanced Informer Model for Short-Term Wind Power Forecasting Using SCADA Data

Supervisory control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems can collect abundant information about wind farm operation and environment. To better make use of SCADA data, a periodic-enhanced informer model for short-term wind power forecasting using scada data is proposed. Firstly, to effectively filter out noise in SCADA data, a v-p curve-based method is adopted by incorporating a quartile approach to remove sparse outliers;a density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) algorithm is then employed to eliminate stacked outliers from the power curve. Secondly, a multi-feature input set selection method based on Maximization Information Coefficient is introduced to make better use of the SCADA system data by reducing the number of features. Thirdly, a Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN) is designed to extract the scalar projection of the input set, followed by fusing the local time stamp and global time stamp to build the periodic information enhanced prediction model embedding layer. Subsequently, the enhanced input set is fed into an informer model to predict future wind power. Finally, considering the multiple temporal scales structure characteristics present in the dataset, a multi-scale deep fusion module is established in the informer model to deeply integrate the features of different scales. It can simultaneously avoid the resource waste and overfitting problems caused by increasing the network depth. The experimental results, which are obtained from several deep learning methods on real SCADA data, demonstrate that the suggested approach has good predictive capability. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

This article introduces a novel principle for the design of interpolating logarithmic Analog-to-Digital Functional Converters (ADFCs) that enhances conversion speed and accuracy. The proposed principle leverages the phenomena of charge redistribution and accumulation during coarse and precise conversion stages, respectively. By simplifying the conversion algorithm and eliminating the need to reproduce previous compensating voltage levels during the coarse conversion stage, the new ADFC design outperforms existing analogs in both speed and precision. The methodological foundations discussed include the selection of conversion steps and the determination of logarithm bases that directly influence the conversion error. The article presents a simplified functional diagram of the ADFC, detailing the operational amplifier’s resistance configuration and the role of capacitive cells in the conversion process. The results demonstrate that the ADFC’s performance can be significantly improved without compromising accuracy, offering advancements in automation, control systems, and information-measurement technology.

Digital framework for metallic subtractive process planning: Liger optimisation case study

Metallic subtractive process planning is challenging. It requires a blend of expert knowledge, experience, and established manufacturing methods. Decision-making in this domain is multifaceted and complex, and this includes the need to satisfy multiple conflicting demands faced by the manufacturing sector today. However, with the evolving landscape of manufacturing, combined with increased adoptions of digital technologies, the traditional rules of thumb are becoming obsolete. In response, this research investigated these decision-making processes within a subset of the digital framework for subtractive process planning. In particular, it has demonstrated that an advanced open-source optimisation tool (Liger) could be integrated with commercial industrial software and applied to a machining case study. The integrated software intelligently executed and automated simulations using advanced optimisation techniques. The outputs are a range of optimised solutions that support manufacturing engineers’ decision-making. One of the major benefits of the open-source software is that it provides an intuitive to use interface suitable for the non-expert in optimisation, offers a varied range of state-of-the-art multi-objective optimisation algorithms, and is capable of incorporating many different third-party types of software, models and simulations. In this paper, the Liger software has been applied to a simple case study to find the best feedrate and depths of cut that simultaneously minimise the cutting force and the time it takes to complete the machining process. The case study demonstrates proof-of-principle results that the optimisation software can be implemented in a wider process planning context with additional digital manufacturing simulation models.
