Fatigue driving is a common potential traffic safety hazard. To detect and analysis the driver Fatigue degree in real-time, more attention have been increasing paid to application research of EEG fatigue detection device. However, existing methods suffer from complex model structure or large-scale model parameters. In the other words, they requires high computational consumption and large memory footprint, which creates a contradiction between model and portable EEG machine with limited hardware resources. In this work, we take both time and frequency domains of EEG signal into account and design an lightweight and efficient driver fatigue detection network based on GCN (EEG-GNet), which is available edge-end device application. Experiments on 4th Raspberry Pi on a public baseline dataset show that our EEG-GNet outperforms the state-of-the-art methods and takes good tradeoff between detection accuracy and resource consumption. Our EEG-GNet provides a new potential opportunity for future applications in practical portable/wearable (P/W) devices.

Multi-person pose estimation is a fundamental and challenging problem to many computer vision tasks. Most existing methods can be broadly categorized into two classes: top-down and bottom-up methods. Both of the two types of methods involve two stages, namely, person detection and joints detection. Conventionally, the two stages are implemented separately without considering their interactions between them, and this may inevitably cause some issue intrinsically. In this paper, we present a novel method to simplify the pipeline by implementing person detection and joints detection simultaneously. We propose a Double Embedding (DE) method to complete the multi-person pose estimation task in a global-to-local way. DE consists of Global Embedding (GE) and Local Embedding (LE). GE encodes different person instances and processes information covering the whole image and LE encodes the local limbs information. GE functions for the person detection in top-down strategy while LE connects the rest joints sequentially which functions for joint grouping and information processing in A bottom-up strategy. Based on LE, we design the Mutual Refine Machine (MRM) to reduce the prediction difficulty in complex scenarios. MRM can effectively realize the information communicating between keypoints and further improve the accuracy. We achieve the competitive results on benchmarks MSCOCO, MPII and CrowdPose, demonstrating the effectiveness and generalization ability of our method. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The paper explores the possibilities of using augmented and virtual reality technologies to create distance online courses in order to ensure the acquisition of hard and soft skills of electrical engineering specialists. The use of 3D visualization, animation, sound accompaniment, subtitling in the development and formation of training courses of educational components allows you to fill it with the necessary informational content, immersing the student in a real production environment. The optimisation of crop harvesting processes for commonly cultivated crops is of great importance in the aim of agricultural industrialisation. Nowadays, the utilisation of machine vision has enabled the automated identification of crops, leading to the enhancement of harvesting efficiency, but challenges still exist. This study presents a new framework that combines two separate architectures of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) in order to simultaneously accomplish the tasks of crop detection and harvesting (robotic manipulation) inside a simulated environment. Crop images in the simulated environment are subjected to random rotations, cropping, brightness, and contrast adjustments to create augmented images for dataset generation. The you only look once algorithmic framework is employed with traditional rectangular bounding boxes (R-Bbox) for crop localization. The proposed method subsequently utilises the acquired image data via a visual geometry group model in order to reveal the grasping positions for the robotic manipulation. SimpleTrack: Rethinking and Improving the JDE Approach for Multi-Object Tracking

Joint detection and embedding (JDE) based methods usually estimate bounding boxes and embedding features of objects with a single network in Multi-Object Tracking (MOT). In the tracking stage, JDE-based methods fuse the target motion information and appearance information by applying the same rule, which could fail when the target is briefly lost or blocked. To overcome this problem, we propose a new association matrix, the Embedding and Giou matrix, which combines embedding cosine distance and Giou distance of objects. To further improve the performance of data association, we develop a simple, effective tracker named SimpleTrack, which designs a bottom-up fusion method for Re-identity and proposes a new tracking strategy based on our EG matrix. The experimental results indicate that SimpleTrack has powerful data association capability, e.g., 61.6 HOTA and 76.3 IDF1 on MOT17. In addition, we apply the EG matrix to 5 different state-of-the-art JDEbased methods and achieve significant improvements in IDF1, HOTA and IDsw metrics, and increase the tracking speed of these methods by about 20%. An Orthogonal Least Squares (OLS) based feature selection method is proposed for both binomial and multinomial classification. The novel Squared Orthogonal Correlation Coefficient (SOCC) is defined based on Error Reduction Ratio (ERR) in OLS and used as the feature ranking criterion. The equivalence between the canonical correlation coefficient, Fisher's criterion, and the sum of the SOCCs is revealed, which unveils the statistical implication of ERR in OLS for the first time. It is also shown that the OLS based feature selection method has speed advantages when applied for greedy search. The proposed method is comprehensively compared with the mutual information based feature selection methods and the embedded methods using both synthetic and real world datasets. The results show that the proposed method is always in the top 5 among the 12 candidate methods. Besides, the proposed method can be directly applied to continuous features without discretisation, which is another significant advantage over mutual information based methods. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

Taking into account the modern realities of industrial production, today the task of improving the quality of welding wire in the drawing process using the electroplastic effect is relevant. The advantage of direct electric contact heating is substantiated by the possibility of obtaining the implementation and construction of a controlled process for the formation of the heating temperature during drawing. The control system is based on a proportional-integral-differential controller (PID controller), a power controller, a current source and an Apir-S measuring pyrometric complex, consisting of a primary pyrometric and secondary converter. By setting the appropriate coefficients of the PID controller, it is possible to form a stable operation mode with the formation of a controlled temperature regime during electric contact heating of the wire. It was experimentally established that, using the formation of a controlled temperature regime of annealing, due to the control of the heating temperature by a pyrometer, the control error did not exceed 1.3%. Compliance with the temperature of the annealing mode in the specified range provides the mechanical parameters of the products, namely wire, specified by the technological process. The methods adopted by the formation of a controlled temperature regime and the system of elements during its implementation are characterized by ease of use, reliability and ensuring the quality indicators of the technological process being performed. A further line of research is to substantiate the need to use the controlled cooling process to obtain the specified physical and mechanical parameters of the annealed wire.

Objective. Error-related potentials (ErrP) are generated in the brain when humans perceive errors. These ErrP signals can be used to classify actions as erroneous or non-erroneous, using single-trial electroencephalography (EEG). A small number of studies have demonstrated the feasibility of using ErrP detection as feedback for reinforcement-learning-based brain-computer interfaces (BCI), confirming the possibility of developing more autonomous BCI. These systems could be made more efficient with specific information about the type of error that occurred. A few studies differentiated the ErrP of different errors from each other, based on direction or severity. However, errors cannot always be categorised in these ways. We aimed to investigate the feasibility of differentiating very similar error conditions from each other, in the absence of previously explored metrics. Approach. In this study, we used two data sets with 25 and 14 participants to investigate the differences between errors. The two error conditions in each task were similar in terms of severity, direction and visual processing. The only notable differences between them were the varying cognitive processes involved in perceiving the errors, and differing contexts in which the errors occurred. We used a linear classifier with a small feature set to differentiate the errors on a single-trial basis. Main results. For both data sets, we observed neurophysiological distinctions between the ErrPs related to each error type. We found further distinctions between age groups. Furthermore, we achieved statistically significant single-trial classification rates for most participants included in the classification phase, with mean overall accuracy of 65.2% and 65.6% for the two tasks. Significance. As a proof of concept our results showed that it is feasible, using single-trial EEG, to classify these similar error types against each other. Path planning algorithms are current research hotspots. Heuristic algorithms that can solve dynamic environment problems are gradually becoming the mainstream research direction. The D* algorithm, as one of the new heuristic algorithms, has the advantages of being more computationally efficient than the A * algorithm and being able to solve dynamic problems, and has played an important role in two-dimensional path planning projects such as the NASA Mars rover. But its theoretical research and practical application in 3D environment are very rare. In this context, this paper carries out an in-depth study of the path planning problem based on the D* algorithm, and completes the theoretical derivation and simulation process in 2D and 3D environments. In this paper, a complex random 2D map is established by random generation, and the simulation of D* algorithm is realized on the map with the help of Python language, which realizes the finding of the relative optimal path. Then, in order to study the feasibility of D* solving in 3D environment, the simulation of D* algorithm under 3D map is realized with the help of Python and Unity3d. The research results show that the simulation results are good, which is valuable for the theoretical research and practical application of heuristic algorithms, and plays a role in the application of robot path planning algorithms.

English Language-Based Virtual Assistants (ELB-VAs) are AI-powered systems designed to comprehend and respond to user queries in the English language, exemplified by virtual assistants like Siri or Alexa. The need for balancing transparency and user privacy in ELB-VAs is paramount due to their pervasive integration into daily life. Ensuring transparency imbues user trust, while safeguarding privacy addresses ethical concerns associated with personal data. Existing methods involve clear privacy policies, user-controlled data sharing settings, and encryption. However, drawbacks include user confusion and potential biases. To address these limitations, this study proposes a novel approach. Methodologically, it integrates pre-processing techniques such as lowercasing and tokenization, coupled with a Natural Language Understanding model. This model undergoes intent and entity recognition training, enhancing accuracy, and incorporates privacy-aware response generation, ensuring informative yet privacy-conscious interactions. The implementation of the study's results is carried out using Python tools, showcasing improved metrics and response times. This approach contributes to a more transparent and privacy-respecting user experience, aligning with evolving ethical norms and setting the stage for advancements in ELB-VA technology. This comprehensive exploration bridges existing gaps, emphasizing the ethical imperative of user-centric and privacy-aware AI interactions in ELB- VAs. The proposed NLU model exhibits a substantial increase in accuracy compared to other methods, with an impressive accuracy value of 99.1 % • On average, it outperforms the Random Forest and Decision Tree models by 15.7 percentage points, highlighting its superior predictive capabilities in the evaluated task. This comprehensive exploration aligns with evolving ethical norms and establishes a foundation for future advancements in ELB-VA technology.
