In this fast-paced Digital Age, Natural Language Processing (NLP) can prove beneficial in consuming quality information efficiently. With the ever-growing number of learning resources, it is becoming onerous for students to choose the best-suited learning resource. Furthermore, many students find it difficult to understand and retain highly factual information. To overcome these issues, this paper proposes a novel Automated TExt Summarization of scholastic text in Table format (Auto-TEST) to provide information at a glance by mimicking the student’s style of note-making. The Auto-TEST framework is achieved through two steps which is Summarization and Tabulation. Initially, the Extractive Single Document Text Summarization (ESDTS) method is adopted to identify the salient information from the non-fictional (scholastic) text which is extracted and grouped together to form a concise summary. A Named Entity Recognition (NER) method is implemented to extract noun chunks and then arrange them in a tabulation format that aids in memorizing essential facts and figures by enabling effortless retrieval. The performance of the Auto-TEST framework is gauged by using scholastic domain-specific dataset using ROUGE as an evaluation metric. The extracted entities gives an average Recall of 71.40%, an average Precision score of 75.80% and an average F-score of 73.54% for the dataset respectively. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

The deployment of distributed multi-controllers for Software-Defined Networking(SDN)architecture is an emerging solution to improve network scalability and ***,the network control failure affects the dynamic resource allocation in distributed networks resulting in network disruption and low ***,we consider the control plane fault tolerance for cost-effective and accurate controller location models during control plane *** fault-tolerance strategy has been applied to distributed SDN control architecture,which allows each switch to migrate to next controller to enhance network *** this paper,the Reliable and Dynamic Mapping-based Controller Placement(RDMCP)problem in distributed architecture is framed as an optimization problem to improve the system reliability,quality,and *** considering the bound constraints,a heuristic state-of-the-art Controller Placement Problem(CPP)algorithm is used to address the optimal assignment and reassignment of switches to nearby controllers other than their regular *** algorithm identifies the optimal controller location,minimum number of controllers,and the expected assignment costs after failure at the lowest effective cost.A metaheuristic Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)algorithm was combined with RDMCP to form a hybrid approach that improves objective function optimization in terms of reliability and *** effectiveness of our hybrid RDMCP-PSO was then evaluated using extensive experiments and compared with other baseline *** findings demonstrate that the proposed hybrid technique significantly increases the network performance regarding the controller number and load balancing of the standalone heuristic CPP algorithm.

An attempt is made to propose a data-driven approach for detecting islanding in large-scale power systems. The method utilizes data collected by phasor measurement units (PMUs) to develop an equivalent model of the system. In this model, the system is represented by multiple centers of inertia (COIs) linked to a central point known as the center of gravity (COG) through fictitious reactances. These reactances, which are interpreted as the electrical distances between the local COIs and the COG, serve as a valuable indicator for detecting islanding. The occurrence of islanding can be identified by comparing the temporal trends of electrical distance variations across different areas. The effectiveness of the proposed methodologies is evaluated using simulated data from the 73-bus IEEE test system. © 2024 IEEE.

AFuNet: an attention-based fusion network to classify texts in a resource-constrained language

In the era of widespread Internet use and extensive social media interaction, the digital realm is accumulating vast amounts of unstructured text data. This unstructured data often contain undesirable information, necessitating time-consuming manual classification efforts. An intelligent text classification system capable of automatically categorizing digitized texts based on semantic meaning is crucial. However, this task is particularly challenging for low-resource languages like Bengali due to a shortage of annotated corpora, issues with out-of-vocabulary words, lack of domain-specific hyperparameter tuning, limited ability to extract generalized text features, and class imbalances within the corpus. AFuNet: an attention-based fusion network to classify texts in a resource-constrained language. AFuNet undergoes a comprehensive four-phase experimental process, including baseline model evaluation and hyperparameter tuning, late fusion and model selection, attention-based early fusion and model identification, and an ablation study with impact analysis. Fine-tuned based on five Bengali text classification corpora, AFuNet achieves impressive accuracies: 96.60 ± 0.2 (BTCC11), 85.37 ± 0.2 (OSBC), 97.35 ± 0.2 (BARD), 93.74 ± 0.2 (IndicNLP), and 96.51 ± 0.2 (ProthomAlo). In comparison with previous state-of-the-art models on these corpora, AFuNet demonstrates significant accuracy improvements ranging from 0.54% to 4.49%, showcasing its effectiveness in advancing text classification capabilities for the Bengali language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

Cloud computing services and gig economy platforms vary in flexibility, efficiency, and scalability due to their pricing schemes. Cloud computing services provide flexibility and cost control via pay-as-you-go, subscription, and freemium models. Like gig economy platforms, workers and customers pay for task completion, time-based contracts, and premium services. Assessing how successfully different pricing techniques fulfil varied demands, from short-term initiatives to long-term commitments, requires identifying their strengths and weaknesses. The goal is to evaluate these models' capacity to meet shifting demand, save money, and scale. The methodology also assesses cost predictability and company and consumer advantages of each pricing structure. The comparison seeks to improve resource allocation and financial planning by revealing how various pricing systems function in different circumstances. The research helps decision-makers use cloud services or gig economy platforms for different operational purposes by emphasizing their economic consequences. From datasets, simulated pricing model data was examined. The first example includes settings such as Hours Used (5-25), Pay-as-You-Go (10-50 USD), and Subscription-Based (30 USD). The second instance has Job Size (Resources) from 5 to 25, Freemium Model (USD) from 10 to 30, and Usage-Based Pricing (USD) from 10 to 50. © 2024 IEEE.

Target tracking is significant due to the fact that detection and tracking methods are being developed in order to accommodate the system's requirements regarding accuracy and speed. This article will propose a method of target tracking that is intended to address the practical issues of signal loss or a significant amount of noise that affects the process of target detection. The procedure of predicting the course of the object is one of the most promising tasks at the present time, the value of the predictions is apparent in the use of robots, automation and smart tracking radars. The mathematical foundation of the process of predication is related to the previous behavior of the target, the preceding motion of the object conveys information about its general trajectory. This is similar to the Kalman *** created a module that predicts the movement of an object, the module is a hybrid of a Kalman filter and a numerical algorithm that estimates the path of any trajectory in terms of polynomial. The results indicate that the supposed method is a viable solution to the predication problem with the absence of a signal. © 2023 IEEE.

Abnormal event detection in video surveillance is critical for security, traffic management, and industrial monitoring applications. This paper introduces an innovative methodology for anomaly detection in video data, encompassing three primary stages: preprocessing, feature learning, and anomaly detection. We employ background subtraction and noise reduction during preprocessing to refine the data. The feature-learning stage involves training an LSTM autoencoder to capture the essential features of normal video sequences. For anomaly detection, we map video data to a lower-dimensional space (latent code) and compare it against the distribution of codes from normal sequences. We determine regularity scores and identify local minima points exceeding a specified threshold while scrutinizing shadows between adjacent maxima to confirm and pinpoint anomalies. When tested on the CUHK Avenue and UMN datasets, our methodology demonstrated performance with AUCs of 93.8% and 94.1%, respectively, outperforming several baseline models. Our results show the high precision of our method that can detect anomalies, highlighting its potential advantages that it can achieve for enhancing systems of surveillance. © The Author(s) 2025.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is pivotal in transforming the way we live and interact with our surroundings. To cope with the advancement in technologies, it is vital to acquire accuracy with the speed. A phase frequency detector (PFD) is a critical device to regulate and provide accurate frequency in IoT devices. Designing a PFD poses challenges in achieving precise phase detection, minimising dead zones, optimising power consumption, and ensuring robust performance across various operational frequencies, necessitating complex engineering and innovative solutions. This study delves into optimising a PFD circuit, designed using 90 nm standard CMOS technology, aiming to achieve superior operational frequencies. An efficient and high-frequency PFD design is crafted and analysed using cadence virtuoso. The study focused on investigating the impact of optimising PFD design. With the optimised PFD, an operational frequency of 5 GHz has been achieved, along with a power consumption of only 29 µW. The dead zone of the PFD was only 25 ps. © 2024 by the author(s).

The remarkable miniaturization of Internet of Things (IoT)-based systems and the rise of distributed intelligence are promising research paradigms in the design of smart cities. IoT and distributed intelligence are conjoined. On the one hand, IoT provides a digital connection to everyday physical devices, and on the other hand, distributed intelligence allows these connected devices to work together in a distributed environment to solve complex problems through learning and reasoning. In this article, we investigate and report the recent premier advances in distributed intelligence for IoT-based smart cities. We use bibliometric techniques which provide essential insights into many studies to evaluate the literature including publication year, type, and citation status on distributed intelligence and its variations published between 2013 and 2023. We categorize and classify literature by devising a taxonomy based on essential parameters, technologies, approaches, applications, and implications with respect to distributed intelligence. Moreover, we provide recent ongoing advancements in distributed intelligence and IoT such as sustainability, blockchain, 5G technologies, AI, edge computing expansion and IoT expansion. We also highlight some of the use cases which include traffic management, energy management, waste management, public safety, and healthcare. The rapid growth of mobile applications has led to serious security challenges, resulting in vulnerabilities. Automation in security testing methods is becoming popular, with the Automated Vulnerability Detection methodology being one such method. This work introduces a hybrid approach for detecting vulnerabilities in Android applications, combining static and dynamic analysis. The approach is accessible to both general users and expert developers, allowing for the identification of ingrained vulnerabilities in the source code. The hybrid model's effectiveness is assessed in various applications with different security flaws, providing a solid solution for automated vulnerability detection in Android applications, enhancing security and resilience in the mobile ecosystem. © 2024 IEEE.
