Nonlinear Filtering With Sample-Based Approximation Under Constrained Communication:Progress, Insights and Trends

The nonlinear filtering problem has enduringly been an active research topic in both academia and industry due to its ever-growing theoretical importance and practical *** main objective of nonlinear filtering is to infer the states of a nonlinear dynamical system of interest based on the available noisy measurements. In recent years, the advance of network communication technology has not only popularized the networked systems with apparent advantages in terms of installation,cost and maintenance, but also brought about a series of challenges to the design of nonlinear filtering algorithms, among which the communication constraint has been recognized as a dominating concern. In this context, a great number of investigations have been launched towards the networked nonlinear filtering problem with communication constraints, and many samplebased nonlinear filters have been developed to deal with the highly nonlinear and/or non-Gaussian scenarios. The aim of this paper is to provide a timely survey about the recent advances on the sample-based networked nonlinear filtering problem from the perspective of communication constraints. More specifically, we first review three important families of sample-based filtering methods known as the unscented Kalman filter, particle filter,and maximum correntropy filter. Then, the latest developments are surveyed with stress on the topics regarding incomplete/imperfect information, limited resources and cyber ***, several challenges and open problems are highlighted to shed some lights on the possible trends of future research in this realm.

Traffic signals and other signs like parking., stop signs., etc. have become very crucial in autonomous and s elf-driving cars as it helps the smart system to comply with the basic traffic rules along with that it helps navigate routes based on the signs thus enabling a more secure driving experience for the drivers. There have been a lot of new algorithms that have emerged in the past recent years regarding this. In this paper., this research has used the new YOLOv8 object detection system to help us detect traffic signs as it is much fas ter and more precis e than its previous iterations. To improve the algorithm., this paper has used a dataset comprising photos of traffic signs taken at different angles and different light intensities. This system can predict the traffic signs with 93% accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Gridlet allocation in a computational grid environment is a major research issue to obtain not only the efficient gridlet allocation technique but also the time needed to obtain the efficient allocation technique. Grid computing networks have various nodes to process user jobs. To achieve the high performance of computational grid, task scheduling is an important issue. The users who are using services of grid systems are more cautious about time to complete their job. Hence, this work concentrates on gridlet allocation method used for time reduction by a genetic algorithm with the MapReduce programming model for independent tasks in computational grid. In computational grid environment, multi-objective problem formulation minimization of makespan and flowtime is considered. In this proposed technique, fitness function formulation for makespan and flowtime has been formulated mathematically. The genetic algorithm with the MapReduce programming model is implemented using MapReduce written in Java and then combined with GridSim. The experimental outcome with regard to time needed, flowtime, and makespan clearly reveals that the genetic algorithm with the MapReduce model effectively optimizes time, makespan, and flowtime in computational grid environment. A comparative study of performance efficiency among genetic algorithm with the MapReduce and sequential genetic algorithm (SGA) and parallel genetic algorithm (PGA) depicts the usefulness of the model. The execution time achieved by GA with the MapReduce model in small grid is 10.48 s, medium grid is 18.76 s, and large grid is 33.73 s. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature.

Finding individual strategies for storage units in electricity market models using deep reinforcement learning

Modeling energy storage units realistically is challenging as their decision-making is not governed by a marginal cost pricing strategy but relies on expected electricity prices. Existing electricity market models often use centralized rule-based bidding or global optimization approaches, which may not accurately capture the competitive behavior of market participants. To address this issue, we present a novel method using multi-agent deep reinforcement learning to model individual strategies in electricity market models. We demonstrate the practical applicability of our approach using a detailed model of the German wholesale electricity market with a complete fleet of pumped hydro energy storage units represented as learning agents. We compare the results to widely used modeling approaches and demonstrate that the proposed method performs well and can accurately represent the competitive behavior of market participants. To understand the benefits of using reinforcement learning, we analyze overall profits, aggregated dispatch, and individual behavior of energy storage units. The proposed method can improve the accuracy and realism of electricity market modeling and help policymakers make informed decisions for future market designs and policies. © 2023, The Author(s).

Decision making framework for heterogeneous QoS information: an application to cloud service selection

In recent times, appropriate decision-making in challenging and critical situations has been very well supported by multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) methods. The technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) is the most widely used MCDM method for solving decision problems. However, it restricts decision-makers to use only one type of Quality of Service (QoS) information, and it suffers from the rank reversal problem. Restriction to only one type of QoS makes the decision problems more challenging, as it restricts the decision-makers freedom. Further, the rank reversal problem makes the decision result unreliable. To address these issues of TOPSIS, we have proposed a reliable rank reversal robust modular TOPSIS (RMo-TOPSIS). RMo-TOPSIS allows crisp, interval, fuzzy, intuitionistic and neutrosophic fuzzy QoS metrics. It does not suffer from the rank reversal problem. Cloud computing provides computing services on-demand basis without involving maintenance by its users. The availability of many cloud service providers and their services makes cloud service selection a challenging problem. To validate RMo-TOPSIS, we select the cloud service selection consisting of different types of QoS metrics as an application. The pandemic creates a more complicated providence of medical assistance and diagnosis procedures. In the world, Covid-19, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS Cov-2), and plague are widely known pandemic disease desperations. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic tragedies, various medical diagnosis models and intelligent computing solutions are proposed for medical applications. In this era of computer-based medical environment, conventional clinical solutions are surpassed by many Machine Learning and Deep Learning-based COVID-19 diagnosis models. Anyhow, many existing models are developing lab-based diagnosis environments. Notably, the Gated Recurrent Unit-based Respiratory Data Analysis (GRU-RE), Intelligent Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-based Covid Data Analysis (Thermal Images) (I-UVAC), and Convolutional Neural Network-based Computer Tomography Image Analysis (CNN-CT) are enriched with lightweight image data analysis techniques for obtaining mass pandemic data at real-time conditions. However, the existing models directly deal with bulk images (thermal data and respiratory data) to diagnose the symptoms of COVID-19. Against these works, the proposed spectacle thermal image data analysis model creates an easy and effective way of disease diagnosis deployment strategies. Particularly, the mass detection of disease symptoms needs a more lightweight equipment setup. In this proposed model, each patient's thermal data is collected via the spectacles of medical staff, and the data are analyzed with the help of a complex set of capsule network functions. Comparatively, the conventional capsule network functions are enriched in this proposed model using adequate sampling and data reduction solutions. In this way, the proposed model works effectively for mass thermal data diagnosis applications. Modernization and intense industrialization have led to a substantial improvement in people’s quality of life. However, the aspiration for achieving an improved quality of life results in environmental contamination. A primary consequence of environmental degradation is air pollution, resulting from rising levels of poisonous chemicals in the atmosphere, which may induce detrimental health conditions in humans. It is harmful to both humans and agriculture. Given that the effects of air pollution on plants may not be readily apparent, it is important to analyse the necessary data and compute the outcomes. Farmers prioritise on pests and plant diseases, frequently neglecting the detrimental impacts of air pollution. Some plant species can withstand high amounts of pollution from suspended particulate matter and accumulated gases, while others are more susceptible to harm. Therefore, plants’ reaction to air pollution is influenced by the kind of harmful compounds, their levels, and the plant’s susceptibility to them. The LSTM +CNN Proposed Ensemble method may be used to analyse the impact of air pollution on agriculture by examining trends in crop production over time and predicting which crop is more resistant based on the pollution data. The initiative created for this aim may assist farmers in determining the most suitable crop to cultivate in their fields to minimize the impact of air pollution on agricultural yield. The findings show deep learning algorithms correctly predict hourly pollutant concentrations such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, ground-level ozone, and particulate matter 2.5, along with the hourly Air Quality Index (AQI) for California. A proposed model used test RMSE values as a measure to evaluate prediction performance, achieving the best possible results. © 2025 SCPE.

Researchers have recently created several deep learning strategies for various tasks, and facial recognition has made remarkable progress in employing these techniques. Face recognition is a noncontact, nonobligatory, acceptable, and harmonious biometric recognition method with a promising national and social security future. The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing face recognition algorithm, investigate extensive data-driven face recognition methods, and propose a unique automated face recognition methodology based on generative adversarial networks (GANs) and the center symmetric multivariable local binary pattern (CS-MLBP). To begin, this paper employs the center symmetric multivariant local binary pattern (CS-MLBP) algorithm to extract the texture features of the face, addressing the issue that C2DPCA (column-based two-dimensional principle component analysis) does an excellent job of removing the global characteristics of the face but struggles to process the local features of the face under large samples. The extracted texture features are combined with the international features retrieved using C2DPCA to generate a multifeatured face. The proposed method, GAN-CS-MLBP, syndicates the power of GAN with the robustness of CS-MLBP, resulting in an accurate and efficient face recognition system. Deep learning algorithms, mainly neural networks, automatically extract discriminative properties from facial images. The learned features capture low-level information and high-level meanings, permitting the model to distinguish among dissimilar persons more successfully. To assess the proposed technique’s GAN-CS-MLBP performance, extensive experiments are performed on benchmark face recognition datasets such as LFW, YTF, and CASIA-WebFace. Giving to the findings, our method exceeds state-of-the-art facial recognition systems in terms of recognition accuracy and resilience. In this fast-paced Digital Age, Natural Language Processing (NLP) can prove beneficial in consuming quality information efficiently. With the ever-growing number of learning resources, it is becoming onerous for students to choose the best-suited learning resource. Furthermore, many students find it difficult to understand and retain highly factual information. To overcome these issues, this paper proposes a novel Automated TExt Summarization of scholastic text in Table format (Auto-TEST) to provide information at a glance by mimicking the student’s style of note-making. The Auto-TEST framework is achieved through two steps which is Summarization and Tabulation. Initially, the Extractive Single Document Text Summarization (ESDTS) method is adopted to identify the salient information from the non-fictional (scholastic) text which is extracted and grouped together to form a concise summary. A Named Entity Recognition (NER) method is implemented to extract noun chunks and then arrange them in a tabulation format that aids in memorizing essential facts and figures by enabling effortless retrieval. The performance of the Auto-TEST framework is gauged by using scholastic domain-specific dataset using ROUGE as an evaluation metric. The extracted entities gives an average Recall of 71.40%, an average Precision score of 75.80% and an average F-score of 73.54% for the dataset respectively. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.
