Background Diarrhoeal diseases claim more than 1 million lives annually and are a leading cause of death in children younger than 5 years. Comprehensive global estimates of the diarrhoeal disease burden for specific age groups of children younger than 5 years are scarce, and the burden in children older than 5 years and in adults is also understudied. We used results from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to assess the burden of, and trends in, diarrhoeal diseases overall and attributable to 13 pathogens, as well as the contributions of associated risk factors, in children and adults in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2021. Methods We used the Cause of Death Ensemble modelling strategy to analyse vital registration data, verbal autopsy data, mortality surveillance data, and minimally invasive tissue sampling data. We used DisMod-MR (version 2.1), a Bayesian meta-regression tool, to analyse incidence and prevalence data identified via systematic reviews, population-based surveys, and claims and inpatient data. We calculated diarrhoeal disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) as the sum of years of life lost (YLLs) and years lived with disability (YLDs) for each location, year, and age-sex group. For aetiology estimation, we used a counterfactual approach to quantify population-attributable fractions (PAFs). Additionally, we estimated the diarrhoeal disease burden attributable to the independent effects of risk factors using the comparative risk assessment framework. Findings In 2021, diarrhoeal diseases caused an estimated 1.17 million (95% uncertainty interval 0.793-1.62) deaths globally, representing a 60.3% (50.6-69.0) decrease since 1990 (2.93 million [2.31-3.73] deaths). The most pronounced decline was in children younger than 5 years, with a 79.2% (72.4-84.6) decrease in diarrhoeal deaths. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, such as machine learning (ML), are being developed and applied for the monitoring, tracking, and fault diagnosis of wind turbines. Current prediction systems are largely limited by their inherent disadvantages for wind turbines. For example, frequency or vibration analysis simulations at a part scale require a great deal of computational power and take considerable time, an aspect that can be essential and expensive in the case of a breakdown, especially if it is offshore. An integrated digital framework for wind turbine maintenance is proposed in this study. With this framework, predictions can be made both forward and backward, breaking down barriers between process variables and key attributes. Prediction accuracy in both directions is enhanced by process knowledge. An analysis of the complicated relationships between process parameters and process attributes is demonstrated in a case study based on a wind turbine prototype. Due to the harsh environments in which wind turbines operate, the proposed method should be very useful for supervising and diagnosing faults.

Single-crystal copper (Cu), whose atom arrangement is in the same direction and has no grain boundary, is widely used in defense technology, civil electronics and network communication. As a diamond turnable material, fan-shaped patterns appear on the machined surface, which affects the machined surface quality and the optical function it carries. Previous studies on the surface generation mechanism in single-point diamond turning (SPDT) of Cu were limited to experimental analysis, while there is a lack of fundamental understanding of the fan-shaped pattern generation mechanism and suppression method. In the present study, the different fan-shaped patterns, surface quality, cutting force and chip morphology of the typical crystal planes (100), (110) and (111) planes of Cu were studied by both theoretical and experimental analyses. A molecular dynamics (MD) simulation was conducted to present the fundamental generation mechanism of the fan-shaped patterns from atom arrangement directions and its angle change with the main cutting direction, while a cutting dynamics model was established to simulate the generation of fan-shaped patterns on the machined surface. Photon time-of-flight information increases the effective sensitivity of time-of-flight (TOF) positron emission tomography (PET). We have previously quantified the relation between the size and shape of the TOF-kernel and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the TOF-PET data for a very simple detection task. In addition, it was shown analytically that for the center of a uniform cylinder, the variance of the reconstructed pixel values is inversely proportional to the squared SNR for this detection task. With this analytic result, one can compare TOF-PET systems with TOF-PET kernels of different size and shape, and rank them according to the variance in their reconstructed images for the same number of measured coincidences. This approach only considers the efficacy of TOF for noise suppression in the reconstruction of the activity image, when the attenuation is known. Here, we apply a similar approach to predict the performance of TOF-PET for joint reconstruction of the attenuation and activity images. A simple and elegant expression is obtained, which is found to agree well with the variance observed in MLAA reconstructions in a simple 2D TOF-PET simulation experiment.

This paper describes the cluster models construction for schools in the Tomsk region. K-means method is used to distribute objects between clusters using the multidimensional vector of variables (socio-economic status of students, qualification and age of teaching staff, students' participation in academic competitions, students in difficult living conditions, etc.). The cluster models were constructed for urban schools (regional center), country and ungraded schools. The computer simulation using STATISTICA system was performed due to large amount of source data and complexity of the developed models. The analysis showed the relationship between the values of cluster variables and the results of Unified State Exams (USE). © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

An overview of existing urban software mobile applications of the transport and economic direction is given. A model of a functional rationalizer of consumer behavior is being built. The software model of the functional rationalizer of consumer behavior (SM FRCB) was developed for the first time. PMFRCB allows the user to expand the number of his preferred needs (occupations, activities) during the daily cycle through intelligent recommendations. Also, SM FRCB allows you to optimize needs (activities, activities) at the cost and rate of their use. The SM FRCB is made in Python_3 using the libraries matplotlib, collections, numpy, pyplot, mplot3d. The analysis of consumer behavior before and after using the functional rationalizer model is carried out. The graphical results of a structural analysis of the costs of old and new consumer behavior, analysis of consumer behavior within the boundaries of the theory of possibilities and the model of transport behavior of a resident before and after applying the functional rationalizer model are presented. The prospects of further improving the SM FRCB are considered. © 2020 IEEE.

The direct calculation of the absorption coefficient spectra of various tissues from spectral measurements allowed to retrieve the contents of melanin and lipofuscin. In the rabbit brain cortex, 1.8 times higher melanin content is explained by the neuron degeneration process. Similar melanin and lipofuscin contents were found in the rabbit pancreas as a result of the tissue aging process. The conversion of 83 % of the melanin in the human normal kidney into lipofuscin in the cancer kidney indicates that lipofuscin can be considered a kidney cancer marker in humans.

Background: Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide, and affects people regardless of country, age group, or sex. Using the most recent evidentiary and analytical framework from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD), we produced location-specific, age-specific, and sex-specific estimates of diabetes prevalence and burden from 1990 to 2021, the proportion of type 1 and type 2 diabetes in 2021, the proportion of the type 2 diabetes burden attributable to selected risk factors, and projections of diabetes prevalence through 2050. Methods: Estimates of diabetes prevalence and burden were computed in 204 countries and territories, across 25 age groups, for males and females separately and combined;these estimates comprised lost years of healthy life, measured in disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs;defined as the sum of years of life lost [YLLs] and years lived with disability [YLDs]). We used the Cause of Death Ensemble model (CODEm) approach to estimate deaths due to diabetes, incorporating 25 666 location-years of data from vital registration and verbal autopsy reports in separate total (including both type 1 and type 2 diabetes) and type-specific models. Other forms of diabetes, including gestational and monogenic diabetes, were not explicitly modelled. Total and type 1 diabetes prevalence was estimated by use of a Bayesian meta-regression modelling tool, DisMod-MR 2.1, to analyse 1527 location-years of data from the scientific literature, survey microdata, and insurance claims;type 2 diabetes estimates were computed by subtracting type 1 diabetes from total estimates. Mortality and prevalence estimates, along with standard life expectancy and disability weights, were used to calculate YLLs, YLDs, and DALYs. The efficiency of the conventional hot embossing or molding technique is restricted by the long bulk thermal process. In this paper, a highly efficient hot embossing technique was developed through the localized rapid heating approach, where a thin coating layer functioned as the resistant heating source to heat only the surface of glass sample. Herein carbide-boned graphene (CBG) coated on silicon wafer, served as the heating coating, by taking advantage of its high thermal and electrical conductance, superior mechanical properties and excellent anti-sticking performance. The previously reported CBG-based hot embossing applications are limited to low temperature below 250 ℃, due to oxidation and adhesion defects. To extend the application of this technique onto glass micro-embossing where the operating temperature is much higher, the CBG-coated silicon mold did not contact the glass sample when the coating was electrically charged in our modified process. Based on the modification on process diagram and delicate design of embossing equipment, successful fabrication of a closely packed microlens array was realized by using the CBG-based hot embossing on N-BK7 glass where the embossing temperature was chosen as high as 800 ℃ in this study. The measured form error of embossed microlens array were small enough to meet the demands of precision optics, therefore the authenticity of precise and uniform replication was demonstrated. It was finally concluded that compared to the conventional method, a comparable optical performance was successfully achieved by using the newly developed technique, meanwhile the process duration and energy consumption were enormously reduced. © 2019 European Society for Precision engineering and Nanotechnology, Conference Proceedings - 19th International Conference and Exhibition, EUSPEN 2019. The publication is focused on description of the results of developing a hardware and software complex for the system of human gait parameters registration by means of accelerometers. In the presented work, the modern techniques for recording the human gait parameters and subsequent analysis are considered. At the moment, gait analysis with the help of wearable sensors is an inexpensive, convenient, and efficient way to provide information on human movement for a variety of health-related issues. For example, as a clinical tool used in rehabilitation and diagnosis of the patient's health condition. Registration of such parameters and subsequent analysis require implementation of hardware component of the system: selection of components, system assembly. Creation of software for processing the indications (accelerations, including angle acceleration and Euler angles) from the measuring devices, such as gyroscope-Accelerometer (hereinafter referred to as sensors) for recording the human gait parameters. The publication also deals with the initial interpretations of readings and creation of a 3D gait model. The proposed complex can be used both as a part of the gait analysis system and individually. This work is based on the use of accelerometry as a tool for step analysis with development of common parameters. © 2019 IEEE.
