Development of cluster models for municipal educational institutions of Tomsk region

This paper describes the cluster models construction for schools in the Tomsk region. K-means method is used to distribute objects between clusters using the multidimensional vector of variables (socio-economic status of students, qualification and age of teaching staff, students' participation in academic competitions, students in difficult living conditions, etc.). The cluster models were constructed for urban schools (regional center), country and ungraded schools. The computer simulation using STATISTICA system was performed due to large amount of source data and complexity of the developed models. The analysis showed the relationship between the values of cluster variables and the results of Unified State Exams (USE).

Recently cybersecurity issues have been taken more seriously because of highly increasing integration of industrial internet of things and manufacturing systems. These integrations make smart manufacturing systems more vulnerable to cyber threats. It is widely accepted that risk analysis is a function of (1) likelihood of attacks against an asset and (2) the consequences of such attacks. From a manufacturer’s viewpoint, forecasting behavior of attackers to estimate likelihood of attack is far more difficult, while the second variable is easier to determine based on the system’s configuration. In this paper, cost functions are considered as financial loss to address the consequences of attacks. The game theory approach is utilized to model the rivalry of cyber attackers and the manufacturing systems as the defender. Then, to solve the game, a statistical approach, the quantal response equilibrium (QRE), is applied to find the likelihood of attack and predict the behavior of attackers. The attackers’ behavior is investigated under different circumstances to find the best defensive strategy against expected attacks and analyze the cybersecurity risks in manufacturing systems.

This is a companion paper of [Mixed equilibrium solution of time-inconsistent stochastic LQ problem, arXiv:1802.03032], where general theory has been established to characterize the open-loop equilibrium control, feedback equilibrium strategy and mixed equilibrium solution for a time-inconsistent stochastic linear-quadratic problem. This note is, on the one hand to test the developed theory of that paper, and on the other hand to push the solvability of multi-period mean-variance portfolio selection. A nondegenerate assumption has been removed in this note, which is popular in existing literature about multi-period mean-variance portfolio selection;and neat conditions have been obtained to characterize the existence of equilibrium solutions. Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Elsewhere, the incidence remained stable or increased, whereas deaths generally decreased. In the paper the online fuzzy clustering recurrent procedure has been introduced that allows the forming of hyperellipsoidal clusters with an arbitrary orientation of the axes is proposed. Such clustering system is the generalization of a number of known algorithms, it is intended to solve tasks within the general problems of Data Stream Mining (DSM) and Dynamic Data Mining (DDM), when information is sequentially fed to processing in online mode.

Currently, variable gain PI (VGPI) controllers are used in several applications. Its structure is built around PI controller tuning and usually an entire number is chosen for the order or degree. This paper deals with a study of a VGPI with fractional order (VGPIFO). For the PI controller tuning, a method called general method (MG) is adopted. Then, the VGPI one is established. The proposed controller is applied on a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) inserted in a chain of wind power conversion. Simulation results show that this new controller leads to good performances as test tracking, disturbance rejection and robustness with respect to system operation variation and parameters variation. © 2017 IEEE.

Probabilistic graphical models like Bayesian networks have been widely used in process monitoring and fault diagnosis, however, their application is mostly limited to discrete variables or continuous Gaussian variables due to the difficult in estimation of multivariate joint density. In order to deal with the estimation problem of multivariate joint density for continuous variables, this paper decomposes the graphical model into hierarchical structure so that the problem of joint density estimation can be transferred to estimation of several conditional probability densities and low-dimensional probability densities. The conditional densities can be effectively estimated from data by a nonparametric kernel method and the low-dimensional densities can be estimated using the kernel density estimation (KDE). Based on the estimated densities, process faults can be detected by examining which probability is lower than the cutoff value. Application to the blast furnace ironmaking process is used to illustrate the advantages of the proposed method. © 2017

The paper describes three methods for finding the source of an airborne contaminant in a turbulent wind field. Weassume that an unmanned aircraft samples the atmosphere at a constant altitudewithin the planetary boundary layer, measuring the contaminant concentration. The turbulent wind field is generated using the openly available software TurbSim. A concentration field, or plume, is created by advection and diffusion of the contaminant from its source. The plume is modeled using a filament-based method proposed in the literature. The unmanned aircraft is assumed to sample the concentration field quickly, relative to the plume dynamics;once the plume has matured, the concentration is fixed and the sampling strategy is executed. A recursive Bayesian estimation approach is compared with a gradient descent algorithm and an extended Kalman filter. By comparison, Bayesian estimation requires relatively weak modeling assumptions, and simulation results suggest this approach is less sensitive to error in the initial state. The controllability of complex networks has received much attention recently, which tells whether we can steer a system from an initial state to any final state within finite time with admissible external inputs. In order to accomplish the control in practice at the minimum cost, we must study how much control energy is needed to reach the desired final state. At a given control distance between the initial and final states, existing results present the scaling behavior of lower bounds of the minimum energy in terms of the control time analytically. However, to reach an arbitrary final state at a given control distance, the minimum energy is actually dominated by the upper bound, whose analytic expression still remains elusive. Here we theoretically show the scaling behavior of the upper bound of the minimum energy in terms of the time required to achieve control. Apart from validating the analytical results with numerical simulations, our findings are feasible to the scenario with any number of nodes that receive inputs directly and any types of networks. Moreover, more precise analytical results for the lower bound of the minimum energy are derived in the proposed framework. Our results pave the way to implement realistic control over various complex networks with the minimum control cost. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we propose a novel equilibrium solution notion for the time-inconsistent stochastic linear-quadratic optimal control problem. This notion is called the mixed equilibrium solution, which consists of two parts: a pure-feedback-strategy part and an open-loop-control part. When the pure-feedback-strategy part is zero or the open-loop-control part does not depend on the initial state, the mixed equilibrium solution reduces to the open-loop equilibrium control and the feedback equilibrium strategy, respectively. Using a maximum-principle-like methodology with forward-backward stochastic difference equations, a necessary and sufficient condition is established to characterize the existence of a mixed equilibrium solution. Then, by decoupling the forward-backward stochastic difference equations, three sets of difference equations, which together portray the existence of a mixed equilibrium solution, are obtained. Moreover, the case with a fixed time-state initial pair and the case with all the initial pairs are separately investigated. Furthermore, an example is constructed to show that the mixed equilibrium solution exists for all the initial pairs, although neither the open-loop equilibrium control nor the feedback equilibrium strategy exists for some initial pairs.
