Principal Components Analysis (PCA) is one of the most wide-spread methods for dimensionality reduction, which is being applied in many research and problem domains. So far a lot of approaches to compute data matrix eigenvectors, which correspond to the Principal Components, were proposed, among which numerical methods and Hebbian-based learning for neural networks, including Generalized Hebbian Algorithm. In this paper a novel way for computing eigenvectors using evolving linear neural networks is introduced, which is not relying upon correlation between nodes, but uses special fitness function instead. Early removal of the low-informative linear subspaces is applied, which reduces computational complexity of the method, and besides eigenvectors coordinates are computed approximately to improve convergence and speed. The latter gave rise to the approach's name: pseudo-PCA. Experimental results show that not looking at inexact eigenvectors the approach allows effective reduction of the features space dimensionality with acceptable classification accuracy compared to some "classical" and modern approaches to solve classification problems.

In this paper, a real-time free space detection system is presented using a medium-cost lidar sensor and a low cost camera. The extrinsic relationship between both sensors is obtained after an off-line calibration process. The lidar provides measurements corresponding to 4 horizontal layers with a vertical resolution of 3.2 degrees. These measurements are integrated in time according to the relative motion of the vehicle between consecutive laser scans. A special case is considered here for Spanish speed humps, since these are usually detected as an obstacle. In Spain, speed humps are directly related with raised zebra-crossings so they should have painted white stripes on them. Accordingly the conditions required to detect a speed hump are: detect a slope shape on the road and detect a zebra crossing at the same time. The first condition is evaluated using lidar sensor and the second one using the camera.

In this paper, the distributed output regulation problem of multi-agent linear systems with communication time delays is studied, by means of both dynamic state and output feedback control laws. Given bounded communication delays, distributed control laws are designed via linear matrix inequalities (LMI). Both delay-independent and delaydependent conditions are discussed.

In this paper, the H_2 optimal state-feedback control problem is investigated for discrete-time Markov jump systems subject to periodic coefficients and multiplicative noise. First of all, an exhaustive analysis is pursued to set up an H_2 performance criterion (H_2 norm), which can be characterized by the periodic solutions of two generalized Lyapunov equations. Based on the obtained H_2 norm, the H_2 optimal state-feedback controller is designed in terms of the stabilizing solution of a discrete-time generalized Riccati equation with periodic coefficients. Moreover, this stabilizing solution can be computed efficiently by the available iterative algorithm.

The function circuit and performance characteristics of dual band radioelectronic facilities (DBRF) “Burevisnyk-3”, which is a new-generation complex integrated radio electronics system operating in the X-band and Ka-band wavelength with a unitary control system, are described. The above radar system is intended for technical surveillance and monitoring of open water area situation. It is located at coastal observation points in an effort to tackle the navigation issues, to control the equipment operations aboard river and sea-going ships, including high-speed “screenplanes”, hydrofoil vessels and air-cushion vessels.

This paper proposes a robust control scheme that prevents an autonomous 4WS4WD vehicle from lane departure and wheel skidding in presence of road curvature and aerodynamic drag. The control objectives can be specified as various closed-loop specifications, such as lane keeping, wheel slip constraint and disturbance attenuation. An LMI approach is used to deal with these objectives simultaneously, which combines the quadratic stabilization technique with constraints on inputs. Simulation results show that the proposed controller effectively limits the combined wheel slip and improves the lane keeping performance.

This paper is devoted to the modeling problem of hypersonic vehicle with significant couplings. An integrated approach is developed to analytically model the dynamics of hypersonic vehicle, in which the effects of variable mass, spherical rotating earth, and couplings among the sub-models are considered. Furthermore, a preliminary analysis is conducted using the general data of a hypersonic vehicle. The simulation results show that the maximum of the Coriolis force can reach values up to 7.02% of the vehicle weight, and that the thermal load determined by the nonuniform aerodynamic heating and the properties of the structure has a significant influence on the elastic deformation.
